I like it here, never that crowded. The front desk staff can be rude sometimes depending on who is up there. Otherwise great experience.

Great club and great location. Seems to have everything you would want. Generally clean and new, but showers and bathroom cleanliness needs work. The music playlist in the background to keep you motivated on your workout is a bit off the charts ridiculous , but interesting fun.

The new updates to this gym are great. It's big, clean and everybody is really nice. There's always a spot for me to do handstands and I love the sauna! Special thanks to Ron for helping me sign up.

This is by far the worst gym I have ever been a member of. The gym is extremely corporate and "cold" (not what you want a gym to be). The staff are rude and not helpful and will pass your issues and concerns to other colleagues to exhaust your effort. For example, I tried to set up a training session directly with the trainer...NOPE... I was redirected to "The Head of Fitness" to schedule. This is not conducive to busy people who do not have time to talk to 20 people in order to make a simple appointment! The attrition of staff at the gym is a testament to their unprofessional, unpredictable attitude.

Management will say anything to get membership - they're desperate. Don't be a penny wise and dollar fool and go across the street to Harbor Fitneess and join a real Fitness Community where staff will take care of you and your needs.

They have a variety of classes and things to do different machines and free weight options. Provide soap and shampoo (very decent quality ones at that) also I only went as a one day trial.

I've been part of this particular Crunch gym for over a year and a half. Before that I was part of their Fort Greene gym.

Pros:

- Tons of treadmills and bikes.
- It's a fairly large gym so there's never a long wait for anything.
- They are improving on cleanliness; there used to often be hairs and dustballs on the mats and in the (women's) change rooms.

Cons:

- Good luck trying to get the front desk to do ANYTHING that requires further work than scanning your crunch ID. Their response is always to politely absolve responsibility and pass you along to the bureaucracy of the Crunch mothership. I was given instructions to "contact the operations manager" and given his business card about some fee a different front desk receptionist had waived, instead of taking the time to chase up on the issue himself.
- Very limited mat space and open space in general for things like kettlebell exercises.
- Free weights are always strewn about the place - on mats, next to doorways, by machines and they are hardly ever put back by staff.

There were more personal trainers here than actual gym-goers (or so it seemed), but the gym has pretty much everything you need to get a full workout in, and the equipment is all in good shape.

Wouldn't recommend for a hardcore gymbro but it's perfect for someone who wants to get in shape or start going to the gym regularly.

Pretty great gym right in Prospect Heights. They have a wide array of equipment which is excellent for someone like me who wants to do cardio some days and cross fit other days. Their Saturday yoga class is so fun and offers a relaxing, yet challenging practice. Some of their larger machines (rowers) and small equipment (wall balls) need a little TLC. But if you can look past that then get a membership!

A pretty good gym.

Pros:
Towels.
Nationwide chain, so it is possible to go while out of town.
Lots of cardio equipment, in four years I've never had to wait.
Classes, more on that later.
Great personal trainers

Cons:
Hard sell with the personal training
Strength equipment are always in use.
Hard to get into the classes, both the times and the booking mechanism.

Crunch is a good gym chain, but this is a below average crunch gym. It is smaller than the others I've been to, with less equipment. Also visits to this gym don't show up on your crunch dashboard.

Hate this gym. Way overcrowded, dirty, most equiptment is old and damaged, no one puts the weights back. Almost never use this location.

Great classes and machines. Staff are always having competitions and offering free personal training sessions.

The showers are pretty grim and the sauna is equally gross. The actual gym is well equipped but if you try and go after work then it's too busy to get a workout in.

The gym is grimy and dirty. I really wanted to join but the equipment is old and feels greasy. Gross.

I love Crunch in park slope. This is my home gym. The trainers there are all supportive and want to see you achieve whatever fitness goals you have set. I have a trainer but others help with workout ideas on my days I visit alone. if they see me doing something incorrectly they jump in and tell me what's wrong so I don't injure myself.

As far as crunch gyms go, this one is pretty good. They just redid the locker rooms but the showers are less than nice. The equipments pretty modern and they have enough treadmill so that there's never a wait. Staff is pretty friendly and the classes are pretty decent but the classes at other Crunchs are a little bit better. But all classes come with membership.

Much better than New York sports club. Class Pass has a new blink membership which may be a better deal depending on what you're looking for.

Decent gym, though a bit cramped in some areas. Front desk is either really nice and friendly or completely dismissive (as in no greeting or any form of acknowledgement aside from scanning your card) depending on who it is.

Recently "renovated" the locker rooms but it was mostly cosmetic, patchwork, and shoddy. Kind of disappointing... especially if you've visited other clubs in the city and have seen how nice they are.

Mediocre location. Equipment is old, layout it bad, but the crowds are rarely overwhelming.

October 18, 2017 11:01

Very narrow gym. Always packed! But nice suanas, clean and helpful trainers!

October 18, 2017 11:01

This place is a metaphor for the neighbor, its way to expensive for what you get but what is the alternative? The Park? I dont think so. The place is way too small for the number of people that are in there after work. Its impossible to find a space to do anything, so unless you have a flexible schedule I would give it a miss.

Member for eight years. ..nice gym with all the amenities except a pool

October 18, 2017 11:01

Good facilities but the constant assault by the floor trainers to sell you overpriced training packages takes away the endorphines from your workout.
