Arrogant and rude staff. No thank you.
Receptionist asked me to fill up a form with my email, phone number and a lot of other details. I said I want to just want to take a look first before filling forms, and the guy gives a long lecture asking me whether I'd be comfortable letting strangers into my house!
Then he goes on to ask if I'm new to the city or new to gymming. Apparently every single gym in the city requires this. When I mentioned the NYSC around the corner just let me see their gym without filling forms, he gets on the back foot saying they've been running for much longer than NYSC and they're much better than them. That's when I just left.
No problems with him enforcing rules (the rule is stupid imo), but that arrogance in dealing with a new customer is definitely not a good sign for me.

As a writer and media consultant in the fitness and bodybuilding for around 30 years I can be pretty fussy when it comes to gyms...in other words it takes a LOT to impress me!
But I have to say I LOVE this place. Spacious,clean and if you choose your time wisely not so busy that you have to compromise your workout to fit machine/weights availability.
This is now my second home in the city and has been for 5 years now.
Highly recommended!

But I have to say I LOVE this place. Spacious,clean and if you choose your time wisely not so busy that you have to compromise your workout to fit machine/weights availability.

I don't understand all the negative reviews???? I have been here for 2 years and nothing but courteous friendly staff. Yea it is a little outdated but if you are serious about your work out NONE of that would matter. The price is great and I always get a machine. I don't know maybe the negative reviewers were HIGH MAINTENANCE. I go to sweat and relax and that is achieved EVERYTIME and I go everyday!

Decent gym: moderately aged equipment, pleasant staff, clean, never crowded. However, towels are a problem: every 5th time I go there, they don't have them. It's like running a restaurant without napkins: a small but crucial detail! Either invest in more towels or replace the person in charge of your laundry. With five other gyms in the four-block radius competing competently for the same clientele, Synergy's owners/managers should try to do better. I'll change this review when the problem gets addressed.

Me and my wife visited this location and all I can say is believe everything you read in these other reviews. The place is a SCAM and a half. The machines are broken daily. The filth is real. I would rather join a planet fitness. You will also have your closed account directed right to collections which will result in your credit score dropping 50 to 90 points. Thank god I have a nephew in collections law who was able to get around this mess. Find another gym.

Honestly I DO NOT understand the negative reviews. I read them before joining and was skeptical. But it is close and I decided to see for myself. I brought up the reviews to the man signing me up an he was very transparent about them. I trusted him and joined. THIS GYM ROCKS, the staff is friendly , the times I go I feel like it's my own private gym. They are open all the time. It serves it's purpose for my workout needs. If you want to pay double or triple a month for the "fluff" other gyms offer..... be my guest. 8 months of membership and NOT ONE complaint and believe me I am picky.

I love this place, I go in , workout , and leave. If you are having a negative experience I am assuming you are trying to get something for nothing. I gave 4 stars because I just wish it had more classes, and a Jacuzzi would be nice ;) But in all fairness it's near by, clean and I can always get a machine .

Typical Gym Scams. Super slimy, I had a free coupon to try it out and they tried to charge me 25 dollars! They said it was in the "terms and conditions" and by that they pointed to a text blob that says "there are terms and conditions to this offer" someone should investigate this place

If you don't care about frills and just want to get in and out, this is a good gym. It's inexpensive and it has what you need. If you want to do a little socializing and want it to be prestine and perfectly clean, this is not your place. The owner seemed to be a pretty straight up guy. My friend liked Crunch better because it was closer to us and had some specific machines he likes, even though more than twice the price, so we're there. But, after 15 years of gyms and moving, I think it's a pretty good "lifters" gym. Do the one day pass and try it out.

It's all LIES, TRICKS and SCAMS. NO QUALITY. NO management to take care of anything. Manager whoever it is lies all the time just in order to SCAM. All they care is to get your credit card! You have been warned. NEVER sign up for any program here. You will be very regretted to pay anything. I am saying this from my hard learned experience. Even you pay money, you will end up lose sessions in the end. They will make you jump loop holes!
I totally was scammed $1,500 here. JAMES the Mexican trainer is a very bad trainer! He is a liar lying about a lot of things. He treats his clients cold and rude. He likes to schedule a week ahead 2, 3 sessions at a time. He sets the date and time that's ONLY convenient for him. I can make NO changes. Why even bother to ask me if those time work for me?! I had to work around his schedule!! Unbelievable. Funny thing is In the end this dude still tried to fool me to sell more of his packages. Like a piece of cheap garbage! He always threatened not to me train after our program started whenever I asked about all sessions I paid for to be fulfilled. He did stopped our program in the middle and forfeited some of my sessions before all is finished. He has very POOR customer service. He always cut my time short for each session with no stretching in the end. Once he cut short 15 minutes! He is a slacker for his work. He shows no care about his job! No merit in this guy. At the first session, I paid him $50 a hour to sit in office to talk to me for half hour during our training session. Then he refused to deliver what I paid for - 12 sessions. No one takes any responsibility for my money. They are all thieves! They play games. I was been pushed around and running circles, wasting time to get trained for all the sessions I paid for.
James claims he has credentials but the funny thing is he looks at his phone to do measurement and training. Sounds like a pro. :)
Cheap garbage place. Period.

Initially, I was impressed with the customer service until when I tried to cancel my membership over the phone, I learned I had to come in (the original reason I stopped going--it was out of the way) or mail a letter.
Well this part was my fault, because even though I only used the facility TWICE the account was sent to collections. I was still being billed monthly even though the original credit card couldn't be charged. So now they are claiming that I "owe" $335 which is additional monthly charges, late charges and a collection fee.
Supposedly this is all contractually legal, but we already know the law has little to do with ethics, because this is most definitely NOT an ethical practice or how to conduct customer service. A reputable gym would not send an account to collections for money that is not actually owed.
My lesson? Read the fine print AND don't take it lightly. It's quite expensive when you don't. I just wish they would drop the collections claim.
