Loved this gym, so sad they closed! Was such a great price and had great variety of equipment. The neighborhood has no real alternatives so it's really unfortunate that they had to close.

I'd say that Synergy at 22nd St. is the reason that I've been able to go to the gym as often as I have since I moved to the Kips Bay area. The gym sits one block from my express bus stop, so I can hit the gym straight from work and is open 24 hours much of the time. It's quiet (and clean) at the various times that I've gone.

Close your other browsers and stop your search. This is the gym you want ... and need. I came to the same conclusion a few months ago.

No lines to get in.
A courteous and helpful front desk staff.
Attentive and well-trained maintenance staff.
Fresh towel service and clean restrooms.
A plentiful array of tried and true equipment.

I've worked out for years, so admittedly, I'm not easily impressed. There's always an apparent catch when it comes to the gym (and gym memberships), but not here. I'm lucky to live in the area and 22nd Street Synergy gets two calloused thumbs up from me.

This gym is everything you need.

+ Free group fitness classes in a sun-lit room with polished wooden floors.
+ Heavy dumbbells that stay tight and don't shimmy or shake.

I'm happy with my membership. Five stars.

I was in the city for the week on business and needed a place to work out, after seeing the gym on Google. The fact it was a 24 hour gym, it was just what I was looking for. . There I met Nicole and Maria who treated me as if I'd been a member for years. Whenever I'm in the city I will always work out at this gym. P.S THEY WERE THE ONLY GYM IN THE AREA OPEN DURING THE SNOW STORM GREAT JOB GUYS !

Be very cautious of this gym. Read your contract carefully and trust nothing they say verbally. A lot of their locations are closing due to lack of trust in their product.

A great gym for the price you're getting - in the summers it was $75 per month which is the best option around in the Murray Hill or East Village area. It is 24 hours on weekdays so unless you have work in the morning, you can't be scared about the gym closing. However, during peak hours, the gym can get a bit stuffy.

In terms of equipment, the only thing missing are bars of different weights, meaning that you will have to physically change the weight of bars each time. There are only two seated areas that tend to get taken up during peak hours so you'll have to alternate with another person.

The staff is great. Once they entered the wrong information that led the membership to be displayed as expired, but managed to resolve it without pothering me, telling me to take my time to resolve the problem.

As a traveling professional and avid fitness enthusiast, I have been to gyms around the country and believe I am a fair judge of my experiences and gym conditions. I am a longtime member of 22nd Street Synergy Fitness, and I can assure you that the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the club cannot be matched. If you've spent time at any gym in America, you would know that 22nd Street Synergy offers far more than most clubs.

Unlike big box gyms like NYSC which offer passport passes that allow any of its clubs members to crowd the gym at any time, 22nd Street Synergy is privately owned - which creates a friendly neighborhood atmosphere that is lost at most gyms in Manhattan. I mostly frequent the gym in the evenings after work and have never found it to be over crowded. The staff is SO friendly, and most of the members have even developed friendships with the staff during their memberships and considers them like family.

I've never worked out without a clean towel provided upon entering the club. I find the entire space and especially the locker room/bathroom to be exceptionally well kept and clean at all times. The locker room and bathroom are even nicer than high end clubs I've been to like NY Health & Racquet and 24 Hr fitness. Although I've never taken a class, I know many members that attend classes every week and the feedback is very positive. All the equipment is state of the art and new, and there is something for everyone whether they are a casual gym goer or an experienced weight lifter.

The convenience of having a 24 hour gym for someone like me cannot be beat. The fact that I am getting all this at such a low price compared to other clubs is almost criminal! I feel like I should be paying way more for the happiness this neighborhood gym brings to my life :) And I know I speak for more than just myself when I say that.

5/5 - Thank you for keeping so many of your neighbors happy!
