Great place to train, competitive prices when compared to local gyms and a professor with a pedigree that is difficult to find. For example, Prof Lawrence special super power is that he doesn't feel cold, which is very helpful in this time of global warming.

Staff provide a discount for year-long memberships, and its easy to put your account on hold with a simple email. As someone who wrestled in the past it would be nice to have a bit more space for stand-up, but this is a typical problem for gyms in NYC. I've been to a couple of gyms in the city and am very happy here (and if the staff is reading this I can accept free drinks/memberships for additional compliments haha). Great place.

I have been training Brazilian jiu jutsu at this school for a little over a year now and it has been an absolutely fantastic experience. The instructors are great and you will be sure to find great training partners who will help you in your martial arts journey. Highly recommend to anyone interested in training.

I've taken classes here through their I Love Kickboxing franchise since January and loved it - intense workout, convenient class times, positive and motivated instructors (shout out to Stoney!) and egalitarian, mixed-group classmates and environment make this place a plus for me. Took advantage of a 3 class special and fell in love with my new favorite workout hobby. Highly recommend!

Do you need a change from your gym routine??? Then you should sign up for Kickboxing at Brooklyn Martial Arts. I always wanted to try kickboxing and I bought the 10 classes on Groupon and I was hooked after my first class. I really enjoy the class and the instructors are great-- Meg, Grace and James- make class exciting and fun so it doesnt seem like a workout!!!

Good instructors, but the staff at the front desk is always trying to get people to sign up for there program. It is quite annoying to be constantly asked the question when you have already responded. I understand you want to grow the members but the constant questions is not helping actually limiting joiners.

I love Brooklyn Martial Arts! I've been taking the kickboxing classes for more than a year. They're so fun, you can almost forget you're working out! Highly recommend this gym to everyone.

Have been training here since January (although I don't have time to come as much as I'd like). GREAT teacher - professor Lawson really cares about the safety of his students and that they use good form. I've attended schools where other professors don't pay enough attention and some students fall through the cracks..not here! Lawson gives attention to all the students and focuses on form and technique over brute strength. Great for people seeking to learn self defense and a martial art.

I have been a member since 2012 and love this gym!!! The hour routine includes 15 mins warm up, 19 mins on bag, 10 mins partner drills and stretching (plus necessary water breaks) make it a complete cross training workout that never gets boring. Great deals on memberships and classes never expire. I left Brooklyn and came back years later to use my classes. Also very diverse classes and fun and friendly atmosphere.

Intense workout and intimate feel studio. There are 4-5 instructors and some are better coaches than others. Some, though, feel like they are just there to get through the time and that's it. My concerns are that the schedule is not published online, so you have to make it a point to call and ask who is teaching when. Also, instructors cover for each other, so you might get a surprise. I signed up in summer 2016 and after I took 30/70 of the classes I signed up for, and a couple of less than satisfactory sessions, I decided to take a break. 5 months later, all classes paid for, I am making an effort to try again - to give it another chance and not be out $400. There is a new addition to the schedule for Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 am. I am already a member of another gym and do cardio, strength or yoga every day, so it is not a matter of it being "hard". It's a matter of me being a paying customer and expecting a certain level of service. Fingers crossed to add more stars here. Now I'd say you can find somewhere with more ease/transparency on the schedule and trainers.

After 3 months of coming to classes 2-4x a week, I can honestly say iLoveKickboxing at Brooklyn Martial Arts has been a worthwhile investment! The classes give you a complete, full body workout that you will feel the next day. I joined to have a more active lifestyle and I'm meeting my goals. I've seen an improvement in my endurance, strength, and breathing, amongst other areas.

Each of the staff members is knowledgeable in their area from the owner to receptionists to instructors. The instructors themselves have been doing this for a while and keep a watchful eye on you, especially as a beginner. So far, I've had classes with James, Meg, and Sal and they each have their unique teaching methods. All are very encouraging and great instructors. Recently had my first class with Sal and if you're looking for a high pace, more intensive class than you've previously had, he's your guy! He works you out intensely for the first 30 mins, limited water breaks, but has such an energy that you will have you "fighting it for it"! He pushes you throughout the entire hour and you will feel so great afterward! Overall, Brooklyn Martial Arts is a great place and I highly recommend it to everyone. I can't wait for my next class!

Health, discipline, sense of community, workout, wonderful martial arts masters as instructors, all in one place. If you are bored at the gym and if you want to use your brain while working out, this is for you. I'm a musician and cannot get injured or it will affect my work, here, they teach us not only about martial arts but also how to do it sustainably and without getting injured. Two thumbs up.

Perfect place for my two little kids 6 and 4 years old. People are super nice and kids are always motivated to go to the karate classes. Price is very much affordable**, and with the same payment every month, you can go to the class every single day. What I most like about this place is that teachers teach kids what discipline and respect are. Not only kids learn how to karate, they get to lean the most important part of the martial arts.

**Note: they try to hide the price until you go to the actual one moth trial class, but no need to be scared. I was a bit worried but the price was lower than other dojo.

The best place to train BJJ hands down in Brooklyn. I always get a great workout and the instruction/team is top notch. I can't say enough good things about this place!
