Great team. Lots of options.

This is my gym and to be honest and you blink location is great

March 3, 2020 08:36

They require you to show up in person if you need to cancel your membership. It seems a bit odd to me that this can't be done over the phone or online.

Its always clean and the staff is pleasant. The machines are kept in top conditions and the locker room is always clean.

The manager at this location is very biased and allowed a guy to harass me at the gym then tried to act like a nice guy when I called in the police

Their deal where you can come for free as a guest of a member is pretty cool bc otherwise i wouldnt go ;D

From the seamless multi floor layout, to the quality staff and people whom you share the gym with, easily my favorite Blink location to date. Could be a bit more spacious, but beggars can't be choosers.

Incredibly wonderful and helpful staff. Though I'm not a member, I did have some questions that required some fairly thorough looking into by them. I spoke with one of the managers, Monique. She absolutely went above and beyond in helping me.

I gotta say this blink is by far one of the cleanest and friendliest blinks I've gone to. I've been going here for almost a year now, and the staff is amazing. Major shout outs to Isa for his hard work in keeping the machines and bathrooms super clean & fresh, and being one of the most friendliest ppl there to everyone that walks past him. This location is A1!

Not the best blink, but I'm reviewing based on cleanliness and equipment availability. It's not a huge gym, but it serves the purpose very well, especially since you have great access to all the other gyms if you are a green member. Showers are clean too. Lots of cardio equipment.

Conveniently located by the Union Street R train station though we just walk over. People at the front desk always greet you. I usually see someone cleaning when I'm there, so the gym is generally clean. Can't beat $15/month membership.

Clean and bright space with all new equipment. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Soo many stairs, it's a workout to get to the locker room and then to the squat rack...it's pretty clean though

LOW COST TO JOIN, HIGH COST TO CANCEL- YOU WILL BE BILLED WITHOUT REALIZING IT!!

I signed up for Blink because I thought this was a gym convenient to my home and work and the monthly fee was very low. The facilities itself are pretty good for $15 a month. However, the trouble began when I tried to cancel my membership. I am moving to an area without any Blink locations and wanted to cancel my membership so I emailed Blink Member Services ahead of time to ask how to do that. They said either a certified letter (first gym I've seen require that level of documentation to cancel membership not in person) or go to my location and speak to a Mood Lifter, or a specific type of employee at the gym. I went and did that on April 22nd (after calling ahead to make sure a Mood Lifter WAS working that day), cancelled my membership via the Kiosk, and was told to keep my card as I could use the gym until June 3rd. I noticed I was billed in the beginning of May and figured this was the prorated charge. But in June I was billed again and I stopped by the Park Slope location to ask what was going on. Apparently sometimes the Kiosk cancellations "don't go through" and I was billed an additional two months without even realizing it! I had no idea my membership was still active. This time, I waited at the location to get an email with proof that it was cancelled. The Kiosk cancellation didn't work AGAIN so the front desk person did it manually and had that email sent to me and explained that sometimes this happens. I had to pay a prorated charge on top of the two months of membership I was billed for without anyone notifying me via phone text or email that my membership was STILL active. The front desk person who assisted me very honestly told me I could try to get my two months of payment refunded to me but it was "probably a lost cause" given this gym's customer service. I contacted the Blink billing department and emailed membership services again - the billing department said this was a corporate issue and there was nothing she could do, the employee at the gym who assisted me the first time at the gym "isn't one of their employees" and "it's all location based," and membership services is yet to reply to two separate emails. This gym might pull you in with low costs to join, but keep in mind the high cancellation costs!! You will pay for months of membership without even realizing it! Another gym in Park Slope might have been more expensive but this experience taught me that the extra costs of that per month ARE worth saving myself this headache now, and feeling completely swindled in the end.

Moral of the story: save yourselves the phone calls/emails trying to get your money back and just take your business elsewhere!!!!!!

I've been a member of this gym for a little over 8 months and I'm really happy to work out here. i usually go after 7pm and I've rarely seen the gym crowded. Sometimes I will have to wait for a machine, but never for very long. The staff have all been really friendly, but they stay out of your way unless you need them. The patrons come in all shapes and sizes, most are only there to work out, they keep to themselves and don't generally try to engage in small talk with other members. The place is CLEAN, really clean, from the equipment to the locker rooms and bathrooms. Not only is the cleaning staff always on premises but the patrons themselves usually wipe down the machines with supplied anti-bacterial wipes when they are finished using them. All in all I think my membership is well worth the small monthly price, in fact my gym partner and I spend more on our after gym bar tab (1 or 2 light beers each to "re-hydrate") every week than we do on our combined monthly memberships.

The equipment is strewn throughout 3 separate floors so you have to spend an extra 20 minutes searching for what you need and migrating from floor to floor between each set. On the bright side, it's extra cardio.

tiny gym, layout is ridiculous. That's of course not the problem, aside from poor ventilation, this gym gets crowded with only 30 people. Not a great variety of equipment, very basic, yes its very clean but not the best of Blink's gyms.

I've been going to this blink location since it opened (and shut down the amazing body reserve gym down the block). Things were going okay but moving from a gym like body reserve to this place has highlighted some major issues. I understand with a lower price point like blink you get what you pay for. But some of these things are just unacceptable in my opinion.

First off, this place gets WAY too crowded (time of day doesn't seem to matter too much). I understand thats an issue with all gyms sometimes but this is extreme. There's plenty of cardio equipment but the weight area is a mess and there aren't enough clips or bars most times I visit.

What makes it worse is that there is absolutely NO gym etiquette here. No one wipes equipment down, I've seen guys sit on racks using 3 bars at once (how could you use 3 bars at one time? You can't you're just being rude to everyone else trying to workout at a busy time). I've seen guys walk around carrying cable attachments to their next exercise equipment so they don't lose the cable station. I've seen guys "workout" together and just sit on a bench press machine taking pics of each other for long enough that I can complete my entire workout. A new thing I've noticed is that people will just leave 200+ lbs on the bar and just walk off and in order to use it I have to spend my short time there spent re-racking them or watch some other person have to do it. There's no respect for space here either. It's disgusting really.

The worst part is that staff does nothing. I understand this can be difficult to manage but there has to be some type of way to enforce or at least teach proper etiquette at a gym upon signing up.

Most people in here have no idea what they're doing. I've been accused of "outside training" while working out with my girlfriend while a staff member 20 feet away worked out in his uniform while taking videos of himself. I was told its their responsibility to show members how to use the equipment and use proper form. That's a joke unless you're paying them to train you. It's just totally negligent. The person who approached/accused me by the way, introduced himself as the General Manager, and was dressed in street clothes , showed no credentials or evidence he even worked there, and was also in the middle of working out with someone.

The saddest part is I'll still continue to go here because they moved in and body reserve moved out. There's no other option in the neighborhood. I assume Crunch is just as bad and its further away from me. I just hope they can take some steps to make this place more efficient and safe.

Maybe start with getting more bars so that people aren't taking the bar off the bench press bench to do a deadlift while they also do an overhead press on the same rack? Or stop hanging out at the front desk while all goes to hell upstairs? Who knows.

My employer put us up in a hotel for a few months, in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. While staying at the hotel, we've had the opportunity to use the gym. I must say that it is one of the cleanest gyms I've ever been in. I wish there was one in northern New York. The staff here is always very kind. I would recommend this location to anyone!

Very low cost , $16/month. Equipments are new and very good. Showers are average, and bathroom stinks. But that should stop a Gym enthusiast to try this place.

Google Tried to hide this review but I will repost it ! I posted this 2 months ago but it never showed up public which is very annoying...

Has high hope for this location but it fails on many levels, will go to back to boerum hill which is better or sunsetpark when it opens. Not coming back unless I have no choice, go to another blink location.

Management sucks. Why? The staff doesn't want to be there especially one of the semi tall tan guy who is by the front desk. Just notupbeat or friendly.
Just terrible staff some of them.

Often dirty bathrooms, floors, sinks The staff doesn't care to maintain it. toilet always has crap or pee stains or unflushed

Horrendous plumbing issues. The shower pressure is literally a mist, the water takes 15 minutes to get lukewarm. The toilet have weak flushing power, very flawed plumbing.

The layout of the gym is 3 floors but very cramped hallway leading downstairs to changing room. It is the artic pole during the fall summer time , too cold in the locker room.

They close early random times & the staff literally kicks everyone out on the dot at closing. They seem to have annoying side random events there which makes them close at random times as well.

The location & building is terrible as there is no good restaurants, coffee or shops nearby, just unhealthy delis

Hands down the best Blink location in NYC. Great space in renovated bath house, high ceilings, wrap around natural light. 3 Squat Racks, 2 Flat Bench Press Stations, 1 Incline Bench Press Station, Full Set of Bumper Plates, Weighted Balls, Boxes, Group Fitness Studio, Spacious Clean Locker Room. The only two Blinks that are not deficient in equipment is Park Slope and Harlem 125th. Bryant Park has full equipment but low ceilings and bad layout. I would avoid all other locations except for these three, with Park Slope being the best. If Blink used Park Slope as the model for all other locations, they would be ruling the gym market in NYC.

Scam artists. Good luck trying to cancel your membership. What an awful company.

Less Cardio Machines and more benches, squat racks, space for deadlift/cleans PLSSSSSSSSS....

Blink did a good job restoring the old bath house; much of the exterior architectural details have been well preserved. The interior is modern and equipped with high quality audio sound system.

Brand new, bright and clean gym with plenty of free weights and cardio equipment. The price is nice, too.
