If you are a member of Brooklyn boulders and a new climber, I would recommend the queensbridge location. Although this has some v1,v2 level climbs, I think it swings more towards the advanced climber. With that being said, it is definitely a fun place to climb and the entire staff is very nice. The only reason why I rated this place 4 stars is because the facilities, specifically the locker room is not as clean as some other rock climbing gyms.

We had such a good time! We opted not to do a class though I think next time I might so we got a quick instruction on the auto-belay and bouldering and then were left to our own devices. It was great fun climbing as high as we could for a while. Lots of space to relax and regain strength before trying again. Will definitely be back

I was a member for about a year until I recently moved. Great spot to climb, it can feel clustered at times. I preferred top roping at qb, they do have a better lead section though

Great time! Super helpful staff and a really fun experience all around. Instructor was awesome and very helpful. It's a really bIg place. Lots of room to climb, even on a Sunday afternoon. Can't wait to return. Thank you!!!

This place is awesome. I see many reviews about it being dirty or gross which is just not accurate. In fact its sparkling clean and super well made.

The setting was thoughtful, challenging and varied.

The training area and shower area was excellent.

The brief walkthrough the host gave us was efficient and appreciated.

The price is a little steep for a day pass if you're visiting, but they made up for it by selling $10 shoes.

Will be back every time we visit brooklyn!

The classes are sometimes over booked but I definitely enjoy taking my son here. It's right by the R train so I don't need to travel far and can do some shopping while my son is climbing. My only issue is the website that doesn't work well. I have not been able to pay online at all nor can I see the schedules. Unfortunately that means I have to call to book every class and that leaves it open to mistakes.

This place is awesome. It has a vibe that I'm really into. The facilities aren't quite as fresh as the Queensbridge location, but they just redid the back wall if that's something that's important to you. Good vibes. Great people.

Great place for climbing! I went to day camp there for about five or six years and always loved it. Rental equipment is pretty good if you remember to bring socks (you can also buy some, though!) I really enjoy this place.

Good gym, but small. It's clean and the routes are changed often enough to keep things interesting. My main frustration is that there are a lot of little kids running around and they tend to either monopolize the autobelays or bounce around on the mats under the boulder routes. Make sure you look down before you fall! Or climb after 8pm.

I was actually thinking of coming here but after reading the reviews kind of changed my mind. To the owner I think you need to get better staff because that seems to be the number 1 complaint. I can't deal with rude staff members. I just called for information and the guy who answered the phone was the most rude person like how do you let people like that work for you it totally made me book another rock climbing gym instead shame on the owner you should listen in on how your employees basically push away potential customers.

My son comes here for their "Summer Adventures" camp. He loves it and so do we! Lots of interaction with the kids, positive energy and great skills learned. He wants to come back every summer!

Great place for families and confidence building in children and adults. I am afraid of heights but was able to successfully climb a few walls. My 3 children loves it. Great hang out spot for playdates and parties.

I read some bad reviews but decided to go here anyway, instead of traveling an hour to another bouldering gym. This could've been an amazing place. It's big, they've got different sections, free weights. They dressing room was okay, I got shown around for a few minutes.

But for the negative. I'm a one day visitor and had to sign up, took 10 minutes to sign a waver. And I know now why I should sign a waver. The holds haven't been changed in years. They're slippery, all grip that used to be on there wasn't anymore. If this is your first and only climbing gym, you're probably used to it. But I'm used to having decent holds in different gyms, where difficulty comes from the problems they've set out instead of bad materials. In addition, I've felt quite some holds wiggle, which added to the tension about slipping.

This is not the standard for a climbing gym. For $30, this is ridiculous. Let them show they fix these (repeatedly communicated) issues before spending your money here.

This is a 1-star gym for the following reasons:
- very limited lead / top-rope section
- wooden walls
- greasy holds
- lack of natural light
- overpriced day pass ($30 !!)
- still using tape instead of hold color to mark routes
- no showers available
- poor ventilation (other gyms have better hvac systems)

One of my favorite climbing gyms in NYC. It's really the original bouldering gym in NYC, though they've updated the walls recently and it looks more sleek and modern. It's usually pretty crowded after work and on the weekends, but if you get there early (or stay late) you can have some really great sessions. Friendly people and challenging routes keep you coming back!

I went here once years ago. I have unsubscribed from their emails countless times. In the last two years I actually have a log of the unsubscribe attempts I have made. That list is at 8. They continue to email me. It's not the worst thing that has ever happened but it is annoying and I really don't understand how this is still happening.

Sloppy staff on reception. One came prancing in like "cock of the North" clearly by the smell of him as high as a kite on dope.

No locks for lockers as they'd "run out". How many lockers do you have? Err ...that's how many locks you'll need then Sherlock! Even more disconcerting was the sign in the locker room informing you of thefts.

The holds were dirty and clearly the routes hadn't been reset for years and the route setting lacked imagination. Tapes falling off the bouldering routes so you often had no idea where the route went.

The whole place is poorly maintained, expensive and dirty.

I climb alot, and have visited walls around the world when I travel. I'm also a share holder in a climbing wall in the UK and have been involved in the constriction of two walls so I think I'm reasonably well qualified to comment...avoid this place..it's a dump.

A great place for adults and kids. Plenty of very high climbing walls of various difficulty, some with auto belays in case you don't have a belay partner. There is also a well equipped gym area. Polite and friendly staff and generally warn atmosphere and nice clientele. On weekends the place is full with kids.

Awesome spot. A little pricey for the day pass, but the facility is awesome and has tons of great equipment and areas to use. Haven't done the top-roping sections but the bouldering is pretty good. There's even a mini-slackline! Really nice people, from the staff to the climbers.

Pretty amazing place. Great variety of routes, awesome atmosphere! The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable! About a 5 minutes walk from the Union Street subway.

All they need is to get a coffee machine for customers and they're set.

the queens facility is like another company compared to this one in respect to smell and cleanliness, but the community and people at Gowanus are the best of any climbing facility I've been to. However, the brooklyn facility smells, is not super clean, they do not maintain the equipment, nothing is sanitary(i.e. they let people walk in the bathroom with climbing shoes then go climb...). Also they do not have enough the v0-v2 routes other than 1 or 2 that exist. Just a beginner climber, but from what i have read and saw online the setters here are not good because the routes do not meld from difficulty to difficulty. enough said. They also have kids running around unsupervised making it dangerous for you if you accidentally fall off a free wall. Staff is way better than last year's and they are adding things slowly...

Awesome climbing spot, staff were mad cool. The bouldering walls are second to none, tons of really interesting problems and the Beast section will definitely challenge your upper limits. Will definitely be back!

Love this place. Great for beginners and they change up the levels enough for more experienced people to be challenged. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
