I highly recommend Haritos Martial Arts.
My 2 sons love the classes and never miss it.They learn self defense, discipline, focus and have fun playing games.
My kids are with Master Steve for 4 years.
Really good school
Both my daughter and son have been coming to Haritos for four years. Not only have they learned martial arts, but Master Steven has taught them how to be disciplined, confident, and stand up for themselves. My kids love coming here not only for classes, but also for the camps that are offered during breaks. I would highly recommend Haritos!!!
I started at Haritos Martial Arts when I was 8 years old. I stayed there until I was 12. I was always a small girl, but one of the best things about his way of teaching that I look back on is that it didn't matter what gender, weight, or age you were; everyone fought against everyone. Master Steve uses "games" for much his teaching style and some people prefer more 'structure', but what they don't understand is that there is a point to the games he uses; communication, innovative thinking, teamwork, and of course fitness. However, it's not ALL games. There is structure there. There's a time for everything. I remember being younger and he was scolding a kid that did wrong, the kid looks over at the parents watching, and Master Steve said "Don't look at them, your on my time, they're not going to help you". This teaches respect for the teacher and the other students. Here's the deal. He tells is like it is and sometimes it's not all rainbows and butterflies. I can understand how some people are not a fan of that type of personality, but we need people like that and it doesn't take away from the fact that he really cares about his students (adults & children) and he gives much more than what we pay for.
When I grew up, even though I only did martial arts for a years, I actually remembered everything I was taught. I went into the military and guess what. Boot camp was all about getting yelled at and broken down just like in Full Metal Jacket (RIP R. Lee Ermey). This is where the weak kids who have never been told any hard sounding constructive criticism would break down and quit. Do you see what I mean when I say we need people with this kind of personality?
Anyway, years pass, I get out of the military, come back home to Northern NJ and I see an ad online that Haritos Martial Arts is having a 6-week challenge. I had to sign up right away and to my delight I had finally found my tribe. A group of women who are funny, nice, know how to take a joke, and want to learn how to defend themselves rather than simply "work out". It's a community atmosphere there which is something I had been looking for in fitness for a long time. (I've dabbled in it all, crossfit, barre, etc...). Within the six weeks, I lost a 12 lbs. (without following a strict diet) and I as well as the other women got stronger. You can see the transformations in these women, not just in looks, but fighting technique when you are holding the pads for them to hit. It's really amazing to watch someone who's afraid to hit the bag and look goofy turn into a beast. I had been doing martial arts on and off my whole life, and there are novice women who learned to throw better hooks than me. Right now, I'm back at Haritos doing a 3-month challenge and once that ends, I don't intend on stopping. I'll do private lessons because 1) I want to stay fit and have fun doing it and 2) I want to be the best I can be in this art form and Master Steve will get me there. (Remember, being in the military I have lived in many many places and have tried several martial arts dojo's and styles. There's a reason why I chose to go back to my childhood studio)

Master Steve helps my daughter beyond M.M.A. I highly recommend this school to every one!
I highly recommend Haritos Martial Arts! My son was 4 years old when we enrolled and we have been there for over a year now. It has taught my son discipline and how to focus. Master Steve is a great guy who has a way of teaching children with a masterful mix of tough love while still incorporating fun into his lessons. My son admires him & looks forward to each & every class. We will be there for many years to come!

Master Steve is great with children. The environment is great, up beat and challenging. So happy to find a neighborhood place that my kids and all kids are treated like family. Best dojo around.
My 3 kids have been training with Master Steve for many years. I have seen them evolve from beginners to advanced levels. Master Steve is excellent at making the classes interesting, educational and what he teaches can be applied in real life self defense situations. Moreover he works with the parents to identify any problems that the kids might have at home or school and he goes out of his way to rectify them.

Master Haritos is fabulous with the kids. Great balance of discipline, focus, and fun. My daughter loves it there and so do I.
My Kids were Haritos students years ago and they loved every minute of it! Now I take kickboxing classes and Steve and Cindy have brought out things in me I never knew I had!!! Recommend 100%!!!!!
I've been living 3 houses away for a year and a half and I have never seen it open. Never.
Both our kids attended Haritos Martial arts and both my husband I were incredibly pleased with the results. Not only did our 8 year old daughter learn self defense but she has also gained more confidence. Our 6 year old son also learned self defense but has also gained better listening skills . In the short time we joined I can definitely say we saw a huge improvement in our kids discipline as well as respect towards others. Sir and Mrs. Cindy are wonderful with the kids and demonstrate incredible patience with each child as everyone is different, however treating everyone equally.
Master Steve (Sir) has a great way with children especially younger ones. He combines fun with discipline by playing games that are all about training. The price is good if your looking for a good school. Also, you will notice your child become more focused and calm. Martial arts is a great thing for college resumes and getting any level of belt will make your child build self confidence. What Master Steve teaches is real.
