I'm from Maryland and had a hectic bus ride up to NYC. I decided to release my stress at PF to then run into one of the nicest employees at planet fitness, Lloyd. He welcomed me so nicely that I forgot why I was mad. He recommended me several places to eat which is above and beyond what most people normally do.
Very nice guy and I hope he gets the opportunities to further his career in planet fitness.
Its exactly what you'd expect. A Planet Fitness with no frills. All of the machines work, it's clean, most of the TVs work as well as a nice staff. However, wish they'd fix up the men's bathroom. A urinal has been broken for about a month.
Lloyd is a great person. Guided me through the entire gym. Made it an amazing experience for me. Actually, One of the best ! so far.
Answered my Questions in a professional manner.
Highly Recommend.
Will definitely go at this location more often!
I think this is the best location in Manhattan. It was a little cramped at peak hours, but I could still use everything I wanted/ needed. Staff were very friendly professional.
I actually like this gym! Compared to the other locations this one got friendly staff. They gave me a tour without even asking because it was my first time there. NEVER and I meant NEVER have I been greated at any planet fitness but this one.
Also very clean.
I'm really digging this gym. A lot of folks works out here yeah, but they do have some great workout equipment. And I only pay $10 a month too, so that's a win for me.
Oh I'm so feeling the burn from last nights work out. Got one of those $10 memberships just to save a few extra bucks. I think its worth it.
Got me one of those $10 memberships and been working out for a week and I'm seeing great results. Should have this months ago. Really digging this location too. Everything is clean here and the workout machine are not all out of service.
I love my gym. the entire place rates high, EVEN THOUGH EVERY BIT IF IT IS IN PURPLE, YELLOW & BLACK. yikes! stars for the equipment, the cleanliness, the tanning booth, the courteous people on staff AND the trainer, Brandor. cool guy! helping me a great deal.
the sit down elliptical machines are awesome for me as coming back from surgeries & need a lot of strengthening before hitting harder machines. wide variety of machines, free weights, aerobic space, and trainers are FREE. free!
i was so surprised that a planet fitness could outclass and far surpass the "sports" ah, gyms around, who jack ya on fees & hidden membership charges, not to mention roping you in and never living up to their supposed incentives.
planet fitness is fair, saves you a BUNDLE, and has the best thing of all: a truly judgement free zone.
I give it five stars but warn you lose out on any views of the outside world. the locker room for us ladies is good but not spectacular. serviceable. we're not talking "posh" in any way. just VERY GOOD!
Planet Fitness - no big surprises here, but a solid basement-level gym consisting primarily of treadmills, lots of various weight-training machinesellipticals, a few free weights
i go here offtend and tha staff is ok , don't really care for them to be honest but it is a good gym for Gains and tha night time is more laid back because no one is hogging tha machines so u don't have 2 wait on people to use tha machines , this is a good gym because is 24 hours .

I go in the am when it's less crowded. The showers are clean and the music played gets you pumped for a workout.

I used to hate this gym, turns out it was just me hating myself for not working out. When I finally got it together to start going regularly I realized with great joy that it provides everything one could possibly need for a good workout and it more than justifies the price- that's the trick, the more you go, the more it feels worth every penny. I'm pretty sure this company chose the color scheme to be as uninviting as humanly possible with the same philosophy of fast food restaurants picking aggressive colors so you don't want to linger and I see through their shenanigans but think of it as a miniature test of your willpower and you can be all the more proud of yourself for resisting the subliminal Barney looking "get out of here" message and still getting fit. The body wash smells like rancid bubble gum but I'm not exactly expecting my own personal Body Shop at a $10/month gym. The staff is friendly in a genuine way, not a "syrupy sweet but I actually hate you way" which I also appreciate. All in all, like most things in life, manage your expectations and you'll be overjoyed at what the world (or the gym) has to offer.

Planet fitness is my favorite gym .. you can pay only 10$ a month and have access to one gym .. if you pay 20$ a month then you have access to all planet fitness branches plus you can bring a guest with you every time you check in and you can have access to the chair massage as well
So-so. Could be more cleaner. Personal training staff is missing.
My first experience. I enjoyed
I live in Denver and came to NYC for work just last week; staying a block away from this PF location. Not being a PF member myself, I came here for a single workout. The day pass cost $20 which would've been worthwhile to me had the gym been up to par. It wasn't. I was flabbergasted that they lack even the most basic strength training equipment like an EZ curl bar (for free weights) and hex bar. I walked all around on both levels and upon not finding either piece of equipment, I was sure I just didn't know where they were since I was new. I went to the front desk and they confirmed they don't have them; in fact the girl appeared to have never heard of either item!
Besides that, the equipment they do have is sorely inadequate; a couple of benches, very selective sizes of dumbbells, etc. I did not do cardio so can't comment on that.
I was supposed to be there for a full hour long strength-training session but left after about 40 minutes, feeling completely ripped off. There are better options nearby and their higher cost is worth it.

Not too packed on the hours I show up. The staff is friendly and you can't beat the price.
I've been going to this gym for a year. It sucks overall in that it's very cramped, doesn't have all the machines, not sure how often the showers are cleaned but whatever, it was fine for what I was paying.
The main issue is MULTIPLE TIMES in recent months, male employees have entered the female locker room unannounced. I get ready for work in their locker room every single morning so I know this isn't a one time mistake. Obviously the locker room is where women change their clothes and shower and I'm 100% sure none of these women signed up for a gym where a man can just waltz into the locker room while they're half/fully naked. It is inappropriate, disrespectful and just wrong. Canceling my membership today because I'd like to be able to get a workout in without getting violated.
Train your employees. Respect women and their privacy and get a clue.

Love it. Inexpensive gym where I can try to achieve my goal of losing 150 pounds
Great gym, big space snd really cheap. Only bad thing (but I don't want to take them any star) is there don't have free bars for bench press, only Smith machines.
Three floors, the bottom is dedicated to the locker rooms. A little smaller than other locations. Have the same ratio of machines.
I generally love Planet Fitness for the value. I've come at all times of the day, on various days of the week for many months, and it's never that crowded. Honestly hard to find a gym in NYC that isn't packed at all times of thenday. This one also has more machines than most which is a big plus. It's a bit dark and gloomy though in case you don't like that. I wish the showers were nicer. The toiletries (i.e. the body wash as they provide nothing else) is terrible. This is the biggest negative about PF. I wish they provided a better body wash and more toiletries like Q-Tips. I bring my own now and recommend you so the same.
I exercise there almost every day. The staff are helpful. The men's locker room and showers need improvement and more sanitation. The equipment is good.
Forgot planet fitness bar code, asked attendant to Look up my phone or to look at. My license, was told no... I must go back to my home planet fitness to get Barcode... Going back in morning to CANCEL MEMBERSHIP.. Good luck
Good Cardio section upstairs and down. It's usual pretty quiet too, even at peak after work hours.
The changing rooms are in need of some attention though. There's always a pretty unpleasant smell down there and not much ventilation.
Not what you need when using the only water fountain in the gym.
I feel comfortable exercising here. The machines are clean and on good repair. Mt trainer listened to my individual story and helped me developed s plan the addresses my personal rotator cuff limitations. I pay the extra ten bucks a month because the hydro message and massage chairs are more than worth it.
Can you all get rid of the chair bikes and get more of the regular bikes???? 5 really? For the whole place...but it's always clean I will give you that
Ideal for the person who wants to work at their own pace. Practically every piece of equipment is included for your use. Showers are provided for post-workout refreshment and lockers are available for use. You'll find an added treat at the door.
Great deal for the price you pay... Assuming you'll be able to take advantage by working or at least 3 days a week. Don't forget to bring a towel.
