JAMES S (JIM) DAVIS. I am a 74 y/o male, in very good health for my age, who has been going to Rob Morea at Great Jones for almost 13 years. I give Rob great credit for the fact that I am more fit than i have ever been.
Recovery from one recent accident says a lot: falling on an obstructed, uneven sidewalk, resulting in a fractured knee cap (patella), operation, and brace for the last 3 weeks so I cannot bend that leg. When I woke up in the recovery room they immediately started me walking with a walker, full weight on the injured leg, even testing steps. They said they had never seen anyone "get back up and mobile" as fast as I did. One person commented on my good balance (one dominant leg for the moment), and my upper body strength. "You're strong and strength is what it's all about." I attribute this result to the work Rob has done with me. (I was never actively athletic.) I have been able to stay at home alone; and a huge part of that is my agility in getting in and out of bed, chairs, sofa, with my upper body and one leg doing the job (brace prevents bending the hurt leg.)
All of that aside, I have been very happy with my time at the gym 2x a week, with Rob as a steady, focused, congenial person. In addition, the facility is great, normally with just 2 trainers and 2 clients: large enough for us to stay out of the other client's arena and small enough to feel "at home". There is a lot of focus and energy; but there is also enough limited exchange with some clients to make us all feel at ease being there with each other.
Bottom line, I highly recommend Great Jones; and I wish I had a recording of the comments in the recovery room to play for Rob. "Upper body strength". I'll take it.
