Stinky studio! It stank of sweat. The instructor was rude and fat shamed me (I'm 70kg) and said I was maybe too heavy for her class! We are paying for their service they should focus on helping us rather than criticizing us in an unprofessional and unproductive way.
The instructors are great and very welcoming! I'd never used a reformer before and they walked me through it. The intensity of class depends on the level, but I love that all of the moves are supported with the machine. Clean, bright studio, but FYI, it's a 4th floor walk up.
HORRIBLE. Signed up for a Level 1 Beginner Pilates Reformer class having done Pilates before but never on a Reformer Machine. The instructor was very unprofessional and rude and instead of teaching how to use the machine, came over multiple times during the class to ask if I'd ever done Pilates and to inform me that they had an even lower level of class. No matter the level of class or student, instructors should encourage and cultivate their students (who are paying for their service) and focus on helping them rather than criticizing them in an unprofessional and unproductive way.
This place is under new managment now as I understand. No longer Brooklyn Pilates, but now Brooklyn Heights Pilates. Took a great "Pilates for Skiers" class last week that they are offering on Wednesday evenings through the ski season. The class was excellent, the teacher very knowledgable and very attentive (i had only done Pilates once before and never on a reformer). And the studo is very nice and clean. I highly recommedn this place if you're in the Downtown Brooklyn area.
