Always busy, not much space to lay a mat to work out. The upstairs would be perfect if they removed a row of machines which are barely used. The cleaning spray are filled with water and no cleaning solution. Not a terrible gym, just a few things can improve.

Best time to go for me is after midnight or early in the morning like 7-9 am. Go there after 430pm and good luck trying to get a decent work out because you'll be killing time waiting for machines. Pretty large facility though. No parking available. Except after midnight on the street due to the location being a shopping area.

Very good gym for beginners and intermediate fitness people.
PF 86st has a lot of workout (all body parts) and cardio machines (stair master, row, bike, treadmill etc).
There are kettle bells and dumbells (5 - 60lbs).
The Dumbell don't go past 60 lbs because that's PF model. Can't blame them since it's geared to beginers and moderate lifters. If you KNOW what you're doing you can have an awesome workout. Just know your full body and cardio exercises to combine for an awesome workout.
The community is very friendly.
Sometimes it can get extremely crowded but that's normal for commercial gyms from Jan to May. The locker room is clean and someone is always in there cleaning. Staff is awesome. Very good for the price you pay, but no community based classes because everyone works out on their own. The facilities are good and are varied that you can use to exercise. There are certainly better workout facilities in the city, but Planet Fitness is pretty decent for what you pay.

Amazing workout facility for the price! Sadly it doesn't have free weights so you're forced to use machines, dumbbells, or smith machines. Even though you can do everything you would want to with a free weight bar, there are only 4 smith machines at this location which is usually packed so you most likely will have to wait for your turn. Other than that, planet fitness has everything you need to live a healthier and better lifestyle.

A few homeless women have been taking their huge black trash bag and luggage into the shower. The gym is not a shelter. Members deserve to have a healthy, clean environment. It's not fair to cause harzoudous situation for hundreds of other members for the benefit of a few homeless. It's unhygene, extremely unpleasant. The management wouldn't do a thing. I am definitely switching gym.

24 hours fitness was better and convenient. I hate planet fitness. I signed up last week for Planet Fitness in a different location and I am not allowed in this planet fitness. Because they said that I had to go to that Planet fitness where I signed up. I thought I could use all planet fitness in the same city.

There is a 2nd floor dedicated to just cardio. I was there for Free Pizza Monday. There's only Cheese pizza though. Still pretty good.

It's basic but very stylish and pretty much clean gym. BUT front desk stuff....is unfriendly. They either talking or in their cell phones and never smile or greet their customers. So when you approach them, it always feels like they being interrupted from something more inprotant then their direct job. I think management of this location should do something about it.

This is an edited review of this location. I changed it from one star to two stars. Overall experience is not comparable with other locations I've been to (other states and around NYC). Reasons - unattended bathrooms/changing rooms, air conditioning could be more powerful, very poor water pressure in drinking fountains, front desk employees are probably made to be there, as they show zero interest in adding to positive experience. Patrons hog equipment, do not re-rack, dumbbells are always scattered around the whole gym, people often do not wipe off the machines/benches. The admin added a response to my review, and suggests me to address such issues, (as though it's my and not their business) that should not even be there in the first place, directly to the club management. I don't care about the success of your gym, I care about service I personally receive, hence the review.

Beyond disappointed by overall experience. First thing you notice - the gym feels unclean, crowded with machines and poor ventilation/ac. People who workout there prefer to not have any courtesy towards others. I don't know what is it with this particular gym, perhaps the location, but I have never seen so many hoarders in one place. The weights racks are completely empty with dumbbells being kept by people near smiths, other machines, second floor, anywhere else but where you would expect them to be found. That was my experience during any time after 4pm, every time I visited. No one re-racks either, as there are groups of people who work out together, hoarding several sets of weights to themselves. The water fountains have almost no pressure, a bit weaker and you would have to suck water out. The gym is very packed. The front desk lady was sitting down looking at something on her smartphone, and completely ignored me even after I approach to scan my card and said "Hello". Um.. ok. The worst PF location I've visited, counting NYC and other states.

Awful management! Canceled my membership because I was "using a mashine for too long". Though, no one would explain how long you should use the equipment. I would say "zero points"! And why would I try to contact you? To ask "please let me in back again"? I don't want to be a member of a place where anybody can throw you out without reason.

The gym is okay.
Some of staff have an autocratic attitude when handling situations if verbal discussion arises from a customer (may be the way they're instructed to handle customers..? Like a zero tolerance to compromise standard, in PF's favor). If you want someone moved or removed from the gym you can simply complain, they're like the mob, you pay them (membership) and they got you. Athletes, beware: be the quietest, most to yourself person possible. And please comply with staff if they say something you believe sounds ridiculous, for the sake of your membership. They handle it in a 2 strike policy kind of manner, the first strike being the complaint about you that you're unaware of, and the second being you made them feel you're questioning their authority by responding with anything else other than compliance and a smile.
Strong support system for non-athletic population, personal training available is good!
$40 a year, $10 basic membership/$20 black membership a month if I remember correctly.

My plan was to join for a month. When I was joining they never told about the cancelation fees and another charge after the cancelation fee. That is rude, cuz my plan was for a month.

Yes, the gym is dirty. Yes, it is smelly (it is a gym after all). Yes, the staff isn't the greatest. Yes, machines aren't being cleaned. And YES, it is only $10 a month. Bottom line ... we get you don't care about the appearance of your establishment. But can you PLEASE fix your damn showers for those who actually cares?!?!?!?! Water pressure sucks! Oh and lets not forget about standing water in your showers. Disgusting ! NYS Department of Health should pay you a visit

First, I must say, I really do LOVE this gym and location!! With that said, the reason for only 3 stars, basically has to do with the cleanliness! Returning back to the gym, a few days later, the water fountains STILL HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED!! PLEASE... CLEAN AND SANITIZE THEM!! Thank you!! Also, the staff isn't very friendly! They DO NOT acknowledge you when you approach the front desk.

It is a big place. I has a lot of machines to use and multiple options to do the same workout. People from different ages and gender goes el this gym which makes it very diverse and comfortable. The problem might be that It is always full. Plus

I really like this gym. Very nice machines, shower, massage, tanning. Very cheap. $10 for 1, can't use tanning and massage. $22 dollars premium membership. Can bring someone with you all the time (Good for 2 people). USE ALL YOU WANT.

Machines are nice, but few staff are a bit on the "why are you asking me to do something" attitude. Asked to use the massage bed...gave me #5, went there and it asked for a code. Went to front desk, lady with attitude walked with me and put in the code... But as I use it there no pressure at all! Walk back to front desk and ask then nicely to use bed #4 because #5 doesn't work. Another lady says it hasn't worked for a while and they are waiting for someone to fix it. They assigned #4 and I asked if I need a code, she said no (attitude face on) I walk back there again and ... Needs a code. I gave up and went to work out, see same lady chatting and dancing at the front desk... priorities first I guess when at work....
The only one that helps you is the girl with red hair, she's very nice and happy to help...other girls....well... attitude

Love this gym! All the staff is so friendly especially Ruth, she's always so sweat! It's so nice to be greeted with a smile when you walk in. The staff is always on top of their game keeping the gym clean.

Broken machines. Hidden fees. There is an annual fee $1XX. Dishonest company. I was trying out the $10 per month promo. Even though i canceled 2 days before new cycle i was charged $40 was told they process billing 5 days before due date. When i first signup i was told no fee if i cancel before new cycle.

Most staffs are very helpful, especially Amr (I think that's his name). I signed up my membership with this kid. He knew what he's talking about and he was able to address all my concerns and gave me great suggestions when it came to choosing the right plan for me.

Super crowded during Monday - Thursday nights.

Here's why the 3 stars...
1. Bathroom needs to be cleaner.
2. Disinfectant wipes need to be filled more readily.

Cleanliness of the restroom is sooooo important.
