Enjoyed my drop-in visit. Squat racks. Deadlift platform. Lots of barbells and weight-plates. Tons of machines. Not too busy. Courteous staff.
Club metro is the gym I recommend.... to those who are looking for a calm and refreshing workout space. it's not only accessible with good neighborhood, but also please you with welcoming and friendly staff and instructors. A great gym with nice workout space and quite budget friendly.
Perfect location for working people like me in Newport. Nice friendly staff and very good ambiance. All equipments are in very good condition and maintained well. Highly recommended.
The cheap and best option you could possibly get in an area like Newport. The timings they have works out very well. The staff are very helpful and assistive. They have everything you need and I am sure will continue as long as I am in Newport.
The gym is at the heart of Newport and very cheap compared to other gyms in area. It's big and spacious and open 7 days a week. The timings are also very good as I go very late in the evening. You also have Sauna, Cycling and free exercise rooms. The staff is very helpful and polite. The equipments are new and are always clean. I am very happy with my membership and would love to continue here as I long a I stay in Newport area
Solid gym. I enjoy going here at night typically after 8pm. It's quite empty during this time; even more empty than going early in the morning. There is a nice shower and sauna area and the locker rooms are nice and of decent quality. The gym has everything you need and weights are organized in the right order which I always appreciate. I would recommend this gym to anyone in the area. The gym is in walking distance of my apartment and the price is reasonable so I'm really happy with my membership here. No complaints so far.
This gym is wonderful! The staff always greets you with a smile and they put in the effort to learn your name and favorite shake. Excellent equipment, knowledgeable trainers, clean facility.. what more could you ask for in a gym? Oh yeah! its reasonably priced!
My husband and I have lived all over the country and the trainers / instructors at Club Metro Jersey City are some of the best we've ever seen. Amazing facility, clean and well cared for with all of the equipment you could ever possibly need. Shakes are tasty, staff is friendly. Great gym!
Good towel service, shakes, lockers, sauna and is a clean facility. I usually go in the lunch break and its not overcrowded, but I have heard its a bit crowded after work. Conveniently located near offices for work days and near mall for weekend/shopping days.
First of all, the shakes are awesome and the staff is friendly! Secondly, it gets this rating for the price being decent. It can get quite crowded but if you're a cardio person there are plenty of machines for that. One call out is that there needs to be more plates, and they need to stop being ridiculously hard to put on the bar. I'd also like to add that I actually liked the music on Saturdays/weekends (often metal); some review down there complained, but every other gym plays pop stuff all of the time, I actually decided to sign up because I liked the music which has now changed. I appreciate you taking reviews into consideration, but maybe that person can use headphones. I can link a few good ones if they need.
I honestly wish I could star rate some of the patrons instead: I often see people leave their weights on bars or scattered around, sit on machines just checking their phones, or taking up one machine for an hour. As well, I don't know if it's because I'm female but some dudes will just walk up and take plates from my machine without even a glance at me to see if I'll need it. Sure, take one of my two 10lb plates, I don't mind being uneven. It happens more times here than at any other gym I go to (I have classpass and often use other gyms as well). Check yourselves, y'all. Other people exist.
I've been going to this gym for like 6 months. I think it's one of the cleanest gyms I have been too. Weights are all back on the racks. But I wish people would take their weights off the bars specially if it a lot of weight. The bathrooms are clean but I wish they had paper towels for a spill of something. The sauna and showers are really nice. The trainers are also really good. They have something for everyone. For example if you want a female trainer I would suggest my trainer Norma. But overall better gym then I have seen.

I had been looking for a decent gym in the Newport area at an affordable price. Most gyms in the area are considerably more expensive and the Club Metro hits the sweet spot. This is one of the reasons it became pretty popular in the area. The gym is very close to the PATH and has most facilities that you expect from a normal gym
The gym is pretty well maintained and looks new. There is ample equipment for weight training and cardio. The gym tends to get crowded during the evenings but haven't found myself waiting much for any equipments which is a great sign. There are about 2 of each for most machines and equipment. They are well maintained and have found the staff pretty responsive to feedback.
I have found the basic membership as the most value for money. It includes access to all the weight training and cardio equipment, sauna and lockers. I felt like the add-ons are slightly expensive. They also have a protein shake counter but the prices are pretty high.
Overall its a good gym in the area and you should definitely check it out if it meets your needs for training.
Conveniently close to my apartment. Welcoming staff. Gear is a little outdated but it gets the job done! Love their shakes!!!
I have been using this gym for over a month now.
So far, it has been an excellent experience.
1. Price - Probably the most affordable out of all nearby gyms
2. Location - convenient, easily accessible (e.g., you can get inside the building as soon as you get off the path train)
Facilities - There is pretty much everything you need for both cardio and workout including running machines and weights
3. Locker rooms - For men, there are 3 shower rooms with a dry sauna
4. Services - There is also towel service if you request
5. Staff - They are awesome (Hey Rowel!)
6. Try tropical shredder
Overall, probably the best gym for the price.
For 40 bucks/ month, Not a bad deal. Way better then the gym across the street ( Newport Swim and Fitness)

Club metro in Jersey City is a clean and excellent gym facility. The new location right by the water is both convenient and accessible. The manager has made a great effort to get new equipment and the locker rooms have significantly improved from the previous location. The timings during which the gym is open, are the best around.

Horrible customer service. When I went to ask the lady a question regarding when this place is going to move to the new location, she replied "I'm eating, come after I'm done".... 5 minutes later another man (white) approaches her and she chats him up for about 15 minutes bwhile eating.......
Also, it's 98°F today... And no fans are working or the AC... How is anyone suppose to workout... What is this Bikram Gym?

It's a decent gym when it comes to equipment, not so much when it comes to amenities. But still better than neighboring NYSC.
Love this gym. Not too huge, not small and never too packed. You see the owners all the time and this is a gym that will not kill your wallet.

This gym is better than a good number of gyms that I have been to in Jersey City! It's affordable with decent parking availabilities and a clean, user friendly gym. Highly recommend!
Your gym says starting at 19.99/ on the website but when you click on the link to enroll its the complete opposite of 39.99. That information needs to be taken down if your gym doesnt offer that price and its highly misleading.
The management is great and informative. The gym has everything you could need and is not over priced like over places in Jersey City. Truly recommend to anyone looking for a good gym that has the machines and free weights you need to get in shapes.
Two stars because it is the lowest cost in JC. -3 stars because the whole gym is filthy, no one cleans up after themselves or wipes down the equipment. The men's bathroom smells absolutely disgusting everytime I am in there. Most of the equipment works but is extremely worn down due to obvious neglect in maintenance (for example today I was on the two "newer" bikes and the one pedal was falling off and then the other you couldn't switch gears). The best is seeing some equipment Jerry rigged and held together by a bent screw. I have also been to the Union and Elizabeth locations and the Union location is wayyyyy nicer. Do not go to the Elizabeth location without a bullet proof vest. Buttttt I can't justify spending $100 a month to go to the other fancy JC organic vegan free range chicken xtreme CrossFit gym so this will do for now.
Overbilled me for months and refused to fix it. Super shady business practices - stay away.
Been a member since July and have yet to receive my welcome pack that was supposed to be mailed to me when I joined. I've sent emails and spoke to the guy who signed me and my boyfriend up. He apparently left a note on my account - still have yet to receive anything back. Nobody has ever even responded to the emails.
Additionally Wi-Fi rarely works, the guy who signs you up will remember you until you sign up and then will never have recollection of you ever again.
Here are the pros of Club Metro:
-good number of machines and decent amount of space. things are close together but even when there are a bunch of people, it usually doesn't feel too crowded
-clean locker room and enough space to change without falling over a bench; big lockers
-friendly and helpful staff
-shakes available
-generally clean all around
-def the lowest cost for a gym in this area
-parking available in the parking lot diagonally across the street
-good hours (M-F 5-11, S-S 8-8)
Cons:
-no towels (bc of the low cost)
-some of the garbage cans are broken and I have a thing about having to touch the lids. yuck
-no real spin bikes
All in all, this is a fairly basic but nice gym. Worth the low price.
Nj club metro is too good because , it is open till 11 pm. It has all machines you could possible want or need. Staff is good and friendly. People act classy which is desirable. What else , it is 32 bucks max , what else guys ... Seen some very inspiring guys and girls in gym so that is an add , some strong trainers which will inspire you... That's it ...
Great gym for a great price and the juice bar is perfect for a post workout shake! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a place to get a workout in without the added costs other gyms tack on for a bunch of useless bells and whistles.
I visited 3 gyms around grove st on same day since i was going to pick one of them to be my local work out place.
The Staff there was extream unfriendly and no passion at all. I only asked one question, and he literally rolled his eyes in front of me and i saw it obviously.
At the end I signed up the one with the best attitude even the fair was the most expensive one.
Great location. All of the essentials. Smoothies are incredible.
