This is an apartment (fist), work space (second) operation. It is not a fully operational yoga studio. Michelle offers a lot of "Rooftop Yoga", on top of the building. (I am not sure is this is legal or would be covered under her insurance since the class is not taking place in the space where the business has procured insurance.)
"Rooftop yoga" equals, "I DON'T WANT YOU IN MY STUDIO AT THIS TIME, BUT I WANT YOU TO PAY FEES AS IF YOU ARE GOING TO A FULLY EQUIPPED YOGA STUDIO."
For the prices of the classes here, students should not be sent to the roof of a building in the heat, cold, sun exposure, and have to deal with the elements for no other reason then it's the owner's private apartment. .
The price of the classes here are the same or even more then other studios in Jersey City that are paying customary operating expenses, such as rent, commercial city taxes, utilities, etc. on their businesses and offer much more to their students.
A walk-in here is $20 and a walk-in at Yoga Shunya, a legitimate studio, is $18, a place where I am not being sent to the roof of the building and where I do not disrupt the private life of the studios owners.
This is simply deceptive marketing.
