This yoga studio truly is sacred. The lessons learned here are not easily discerned, but readily offered. It welcomes humility as students are required to leave their shoes at the door. But once inside, one is graciously provided all the tools to have a positive experience: mats, blocks, throw blankets. While many yoga studios cater to the pretentious with "new age" distractions, this studio supplies what the soul truly needs to discover the essence of what we are, as we are. The windows, candles, and plants are an added bonus and a surprise to the waking soul. Like a child awakening to their senses of sight, smell, hearing and touch, the studio offers textures and elements to connect with the natural and nurture what is present but oft ignored. The studio's intimate and warm space, matches the demeanor of its instructor, Komal. Her gentle guidance through deceptively simple poses invite quiet exploration. For me, this journey to becoming more authentic as a human being, is to also honor the truth. "No frills" is what I have resisted all my life (thanks to my inflated ego) but what I needed all along. Here, one can sit alone and focus and hear those thoughts running...and let them all go. The awareness that I am a child when I'm holding "Child's Pose" is not lost as Komal instructs the students to hold this pose the longest. May all souls that wander here be made whole and open their hearts to all that is sacred.
