'To be a Gym' NOT the cleanest place especially the bathroom and room where classes are held. The cleaning people DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CLEAN! NEED NEW CLEANERS!! When you walk in the gym it NEVER smells clean. Employees are friendly/helpful, class instructors are good, equipment good and feel comfortable around clients.

Horrible experience.

Staff knows nothing about anything. Takes no responsibility as if they work for the building not retro fitness.

Gym equipment is ok.

Membership comes with hidden fees and a headache to cancel. Literally try everything not to let you cancel and will continue to charge you months after.

Suggestion, go anywhere but here.

I don't believe it this place, when I get a membership they say after year contact you can cancel anytime now I and my son more than 3 year I come to cancel my membership they don't want to do it. Why ? They're trying to like to me about so you guys be careful to sign into the gym. Thank you God bless them
I hope you guys don't come back there anymore this place so bad reviews in Google about cancel a membership

Place is dirty and they charge a maintenance fee but the gym still looks the way it is. Gym near me so i go cuz gym is life. "Goooo Retro!"

A bit disappointed. My first day I asked for a tour of the facility, since I got my membership online. The girl points towards the weight room, machine and classes. Wow! I had more questions she got annoyed and brushed me off, because she wanted to flirt and chit chat with her other coworkers. A different day, I reached out to someone regarding my free train day. He couldn't accommodate me and i never heard back. I physically been here only 3 times. These incidents speak volume. Front desk sucks. I wonder what management will say after he reads this?

Nice clean gym, free parking, you have to have the right times to go (could get very crowded which means you must improvise your workouts) but I make it work. Plus my bf is a celebrity here, his boxing and weight workouts inspires everyone including me.

I have sent multiple communications to cancel my membership via email, phone, and certified letter.
A certified letter was delivered early January to the route 440 in Jersey City. I still get stupid calls and e-mails form the billing.
I have visited the club in person and my membership is still not cancelled. I feel harassed for the past 6 months dealing with this cancellation and paying you money for services I do not use and have multiple time explained i do not need.

Please cancel my membership and delete the card you have on file.

I've been here once just to ask about membership. I'm in a contract with another gym. I can't join at the moment, but will join eventually. Just having a child care and good machines, smothies and friendly staff. This place deserves five stars.

Left a lot desired as far as staff and courteousness. I came in on Monday evening for a free day pass to try the gym before I committed to it but within the first few minutes of trying to speak to a staff member I was almost shooed away. I was given an excuse "the free pass is only valid the day you sign up online" and I would have to pay for the day before even stepping foot in the gym. After eventually talking some sense into the staff I was told to "go ahead in and enjoy your workout" and was left standing in the front. OK? I still had questions regarding plan pricing, hours of operation, what amenities were included, where is the restroom, etc. The gym itself isn't bad but unorganized. Weights are scattered all over the place, weight trees are left empty, random dumbbells sitting near workout stations, quite a few broken machines, and only a single squat rack with no platform or area to dead lift. I left unimpressed. This place could be so much better.

I been trying to cancel my membership, every time you call them they say something new and say everything is in contract. People please take printout of contract and read one year and then think of joining this Gym. Never go with their words. Everyone on-call claim to be manager of this Gym.

They will sign u up in split second but when it comes to cancellation, they will not cancel at any cost. I was trying to cancel after two years, sent them certified email with two month notice and they still have not closed my account and i am still being charged.

The staff will behave very rudely with you when you try to sort out the cancellation matters. I will not ever try to join Retro again, nor will recommend anyone.

Before you join, just google the reviews about retro fitness cancellation and you will see how much hard time they are giving and scam game they are playing behind the curtains.

The ABC financial company will ruin your credit if you refuse to pay them.

The child care hours are INCONVENIENT!!!!!!!! 6-9PM Mon-Thur closed on Fridays & Sundays and 9-11 Saturday morning! Hello people have their children on the weekends...ONLY 2 HOURS ON SATURDAY FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND! Gyms usually give you a 4pm option during the week and atleast 9-1 on weekends..Totally Defeats the purpose of GOING to workout and being able to bring your kids. YET I PAY FOR CHILDCARE MONTHLY BUT CAN'T EVEN USE IT, OR MODIFY MY MEMBERSHIP UNTIL MY NEXT YEAR!!! THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE..THE MANAGER WAS A SUPER RUDE!

This gym is #1 Top dog! Since my debut in 2017, whenever I exercise, I get more and more healthy with each workout! Retro Fitness is the best Gym EVER!!!

this gym is awesome!!! i went there today to try it out for the day and Alyssa helped me. she was helpful and was told all the information i needed! awesome and i would love to deal with her again. after my workout she helped me pick a shake and it was delicious! i will be signing up and cant wait to be part of the retro family!!!

Been going here for a while and I've spent a good amount of money. Customer service sucks specially the girl that works in the morning Allisa. She aways has an attitude and argues with you for no apparent reason. Horrible staff, rude and unprofessional with the exception of a few. Used to spend around $15 dollars a day but now I rather drive the distance and go to another gym. I'm not one to write a review unless necessary.

Staff is great equipment is great the nutrition bar no complaints there, but godamm those bathrooms and the showers are a complete mess I've been then at 5 am when it first open and checked if the showers had been cleaned since I left at closing time, and hadn't been.
There a lot of hair all over the shower floor one of the shower heads doesn't work. Please fix

These particular gym location is meant to rip off its customers. i have send cancellation notice since 2 months and still being charged on my card. when i called to find out the rep is telling to send certified mail which was never mentioned to me earlier. and it will take 60 days to cancel my membership after sending certified mail. so basically i will end up paying 5 months of membership fee for free. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM.
if manager of this place is even bit concern with these types of reviews, better stop with this scam. or else we will file fraudulent complaints against this location.

I've never had any issues with the gym, I actually like it. What I do not like is the callousness of staff when cancelling a membership. I cancelled my wife's membership due do her not going. I agreed to the 60 day cancellation and guess what... they still automatically drafted their fee on the 3rd month. I call and according to them the membership was never cancelled. There's never a manager there when I call so I filed a dispute with my bank which was found valid. My wife them started receiving emails about a past due balance which she doesn't owe which is now in collection. So I have ANOTHER dispute to file all because one staff member doesn't know how to see a task to completion...

Horrible staff, rude and unprofessonal with the exception of few. They have no control on themselves, they act like they're somebody and as if they're giving us a favor by working there. Manager needs to step up their games.

I was ripped off by this gym. I reported them to Consumer Affairs because they were taking money out of my account even though I haven't receive personal training. I even cancelled the contract within the time allotted but they're still taking my money. I was injured there the year prior and went there to see what I can do since I couldn't train. I didn't want my credit to be affected. The personal training manager tried to act as if he has more knowledge than my doctor. The managers are very disrespectful, devious and refused to follow the contract agreement. The next step will be small claims. It's the principal that matters and have some integrity. They need to have a zero rating.

I have been attending this gym for 3 years now i never had a problem I have recommended 5 of my family member to go to this gym and they joined it was a young man that kept this this gym clean every time I went he was cleaning but recently I have been going to the gym i haven't been seeing this young man and the gym have been disgusting it paper towel in the treadmills and the lil smoothie cups all over machines the class room is a complete mess everything is all over the place I am about to cancel my membership and tell my family to do the same

I First began working out in retro about a year and half ago before i became. It's such an awesome environment with amazing staff and retro members. I come in to workout twice a day because its full of motivation and keeps me going! They offer the best shakes and love to switch it up. Retro welcomes everyone with open arms and if your contemplating joining, don't! Just do it!!!
