Great staff , good mix of free weights and machines. Locker rooms are old and not very clean but on par what you get for LI gyms.

Friendly staff, generally clean and kept together. The gym needs alittle touch up (ripped machine covers, missing pins or clips, wavy floor by dumbells) but otherwise it's a nice workout spot close to Nassau College. In comparison to the retro in farmingdale, it definitely has more plates which is awesome.

My gym location for a year now. Staff is kind and facilities are cleaned efficiently. They also have equipment that not all Retro locations have.

Decent array of equipment - can get a bit cramped at busy times waiting on a bench or a specific set weight of dumbells - or cable machines - but at other times it's quite ample...

I do wish they had spin bikes & classes here but sadly they don't...

The Owner is exceptionally nice and a stand up guy though and he keeps a great staff...

Most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. Cancelled my membership in December and I am still getting charged. It took months to get a manager on the phone. Finally I was able to catch them one day and they assured me that they would handle this and make sure I get reimbursed the extra charges. 2 months later still getting charged. How do you run a business this way? Customer service should be their #1 priority but they have zero interest in making their customers happy.

[Update May.20] Guys I finally found out a way to cancel this membership. You have to go to BBB's website and file a complaint with "ABC Financial", which is the gym's billing company (they work closely together). About 2 weeks after I filed up the complaint, I received a call from ABC and the lady basically told me that the gym said I have to delete this review in order to cancel my membership (the gym is worried because everything I said is real and I keep evidence). This is absolutely ridiculous, so I did not delete this review but I promise that I will update this review after my account is canceled, and guess what, after another week, ABC responded to my complaint and they canceled my membership without any further request. They also sent my a confirmation for proof. So, if you are having trouble with cancellation, simply send a certificate mail to this gym and after a couple month if they are still billing you, file a complaint with ABC on BBB's website and ABC will handle everything for you. Do remember to keep a record of everything just in case they ask for it. Do not try to file a complaint with Retro Fitness East Meadow. They don't care about complaint because their score is already "F". There's nothing to lose for the gym. But ABC do have a score of A+, so they have to solve the prob.

Really hope the managers of this gym see the problem and stop playing the games.

And now I live one hour away from East Meadow, you ask me to "stop by the gym"? How funny is that? I can't believe this kind of situation is really happening on me.

If the gym keep charging me, I will probably take legal way to stop being charge with no reasons! And the manager, please don't worry, I do kept all evidence.

There's no excuses. If anyone join this gym, it will be a huge pain in the butt to cancel it.

Do be careful when you sign the contract. It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to cancel the membership. Do not sign the contract unless you want to be charged FOREVER.

I waited for a year and honored the unfair "agreement" they gave me, and they are still charging me monthly although the "AUTO-RENEW" is not on. Their financial company, ABC Financial Service once threatened me that they are going to send my debt to the collection agencies if I stop paying(to ruin my credit score). I called the gym many times and they always trick me on the phone calls. They felt my name is long and funny and they mocked at it, and always said that they couldn't hear what I say. I sent them certified mail to cancel but they never did. I've already contacted my lawyer and we will sue this gym in the next couple weeks. NEVER GO TO THIS GYM. GO TO OTHER GYMS. And for those who try to cancel the membership, do keep the records of your payment history, cancellation form and the certified mail receipt, membership agreement and other things together just in case you want to take the legal way. If you don't believe what I say, simply go Google "Retro Fitness Cancellation". The the company they use to bill you "ABC Financial Service", you will figure out what is going on with this gym. I didn't listen to other peoples' advice when I joined the gym, and now I have to spend more money taking the legal way to get rid of this membership.

By the way, when you contact the ABC Financial Service, they would say they are only there to charge and bill people, and that I should only call the retro fitness to cancel my membership. Also on the contract, it also states that do not contact ABC Financial Service. I don't understand why the general manager is telling other people to contact ABC Financial Service. The staff is awesome. The place is clean, and 99% of the time everything is working. The best time to go would be in the morning or towards the evening after 7, but that's like every other gym. Overall a great gym for the price you pay.

[11/21 EDIT: I CALLED ABC FINANCIAL AND THEY SAID YOU NEED TO CALL THEM, JUST AS YOUR EMPLOYEES TOLD ME time and time again the last 5 times I called and promised me the manager would call me, which has never happened yet. ABC Financial are just a financial company that processes the bills. Stop having them bill me, and stop ripping off everyone else, I see tons of this nonsense all over the internet. just stop and grow up, East Meadow Retro Fitness.]

I tried cancelling. They initially and correctly told me I had to wait for my year sign-up to end, which is fine. But then I tried cancelling and "sorry, Retro Fitness Requires a 60-day pending period before letting you cancel. "Your last payment will be at the start of October." this East Meadow location tells me in-person.

Fast-forward to the beginning of November and I get a charge on my credit card. I call, and they admit this is a mistake and that it will take a couple business days to reverse the charge. It is now November 11th, and the charge has yet to be refunded.

This location is a rip-off. even when I decide I can afford a gym again, I am not going back here.

Edit: On November 16, I received an email saying my account is in collections. I have tried calling multiple times with employees promising me that a manager will call their Financial dept to resolve this and either email or call me to confirm. It is now November 21, no response.

If I could give this gym zero stars I would. Not for their equipment, not for the staff, but for the fact that my husband and I cancelled our memberships in June and were told that we'd have to pay 2 months post-cancellation, and then we'd be removed from billing. Now, it's almost December and we've still been getting billed every month. We've spoken ad nauseam to the manager (I believe it was Christina) and their staff, and are told each time that it will get taken care of. And every month that goes by and we get billed, we hear nothing back from them! We call constantly, and the staff tells us that they are not authorized to remove us from the billing. My question is: how difficult can it be for the managers to do so? $20 a month doesn't seem like much, but now, two people and several months later, that money is adding up, with no sign of getting credited.

Stay far, far away from this gym -- unless you don't mind paying for something that you don't use anymore for the rest of your life. Shame on them for stealing their ex-customer's money.

Beware of trying to cancel your account. I was supposed to stop being billed in July and I am still being charged 3 months later. The managers are allegedly the only ones who can resolve this but it seems that they are never there when I call. Overall, I am very disappointed in my experience with retro fitness.

The owners are a joke. My girlfriend injured her knee and submitted doctor authorized paperwork to cancel her membership because she is unable to continue working out and they still continue to attempt to bill her. They return zero phone calls trying to resolve this and now have a secondary company trying to collect payment. Amanda the owner is a crook. You dont run a buisness this way. No wonder your gym has a F rating and 30+ complaints on the better business bureau. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional to the point it will effect her credit because you refuse to take 10 minutes of your day to fix this. I highly advise staying away from this gym and going to one of the other 20 local places to work out.

When I tried to cancel they told me they would still bill me 2 more months. They said it was in the agreement. The problem is that I was never told there was an agreement in between. When you sin in in person, they run your credit card and you sign in the screen as you do in a pharmacy, supermarket or restaurant. It was never clear or pointed out that there was an agreement. I didn't even checked a box or anything. This gym uses dishonest tactics... BEWARE!!!

Fine gym until you try to cancel. They make you go to the gym to cancel only to tell you you have to do an additional month at the end. This was not specified when signing up. I canceled in May and in September I'm still getting billed so I canceled the credit card. Now I get calls daily from some billing company that tells me my account is still active and I have to go to the gym to get it taken care of. Been there 4 times and there's never a manager who is the "only one that can do anything about it" and I'm still waiting for the manager to call me. And from all the reviews here it seems to be standard practice. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This place is terrible. They continue to charge after you cancel your membership and advise that they will refund the payment but it takes an extremely long time and they blame it on the financial company that they work with. I recommend that nobody join this gym because they will continue to charge you even after you cancel your acct. The manager also took several days to return my call and she is the only one who can even refund the payment. Then, I spoke to a rep there on the phone who spoke to me inappropriately and told me that theres nothing she could do because she's new. This gym illegally will charge you when you cancel your acct.
