Convenient overs me all I need. Great group classes are always clean.... more
The worst gym ever. I've been going to gyms for over 40 years and this place is the worst run ever. Unless you are paying their trainers, the management, trainers and staff will treat you like second rate citizens.... more
Began at this location while recovering from horseback riding accident that prevented me from doing any weightlifting. It is a good day if the AC is working; the TVs stay broken indefinitely; and you won't find 1/3 of the equipment they have at 73rd, 80th, or 95th.... more
NYSC seem not to value their members. I understand organizations are taking steps to protect due to virus. However NYSC seem not to have had any game plan/ lack management skill. They closed the Gateway gym without even an alert to client nothing to state steps they are taking how members can retrieve their stuff from locker, no posted signs .... more
Spacious, friendly and lotsa equipment. Basement atmosphere can be claustrophobic. But good place for serious fitness.. The gym facility they have here is amazing. Lots of cardio equipments.... more
I really like this location and my personal trainer, but trying to resolve the billing is going to make me cancel my membership all together. When I first got the membership, I was under the impression I had the passport .... more
The gym is nice, clean and convenient- staff seems pleasant enough but TVs are always broken as well as some equipment which is annoying- also my gym membership fee is increased every year without notice which I feel is very shady for which is supposed to be a reputable sports club! Shame on them!!.... more
Some really good instructors here. Facilities are decent too.. Honestly one of the better NYSCs in NYC. Facilities are well kept and clean, including the men's locker room. There is a nice studio in the basement with plenty of heavy bags and for me the working sauna is a huge plus.... more
They charge you after you canceled your membership. I've contacted the account executive who signed me up and she was very rude and I still paying while she didn't answer my emails any longer.... more
0 star. Called months ago to cancel my membership and was promised that I won't be charged an annual fee for next year. Months later found out $50 was charged for next year. Why would I pay for the annual fee if I cancelled months before the year ends! The manager said any conversation happened not in email doesn't count.... more
Lots of new machines installed this week and the bathrooms recently upgraded. Local staff are great. Can get packed between 6pm and 7pm but most other times fine. However, they lose a star for the way they handled the upgrade to the bathrooms.... more
My favorite place to workout.. A very small version of New York sports Clubs. Front desk person was not the least bit friendly. Bikes were very good. I would never go back here.... more
I'm a member and the 23rd and 8th Ave location is in dire need of a renovation. Locker room smells like stinky feet. Ceiling fell in over the machines about a month ago. Woodway tread mills are not taken care of and none of the treadmills are actually maintained or balanced, which causes them to rattle and bounce around as you run.... more
Average facilities, crowed place and poor management. Update: a quick response has been received from NYSC PR team, and really appreciate the team can listen to customer's words and comments.... more
Ms. Maria Cartagena, the manager of this Harlem NYSC, is Good People so I am thanking her! When I asked if anyone had change so I could get a snack at the machine so I'd have blood sugar for a class, she didn't give me change.... more
Terrible gym. The staff are absolutely clueless, their phones never work, the equipment is dirty. They do offer some decent group fitness classes but the gym is so dirty and the staff and front desk are all so terrible.... more
Definitely better than the NYSC near MSG. I was charged for months after canceling my membership. When I asked them to refund me the money they charged for in those months, I was sent to the manager who outright ignored my emails.... more
This gym is continuing to charge me 4 months after I cancelled my membership. So far I have had 4 incorrect charges. They are very slow to respond and have only reversed 2 so far. Be careful.... more
I have signed up for this gym in the past and it was fine but i signed up again for their cheapest membership, recently, and was surprised to see that they have been charging more than the agreed cost i signed up for.... more
I let the management know about canceling my membership because I was going to study abroad in college, and even though I canceled the contract. They charged me the next month in advance and charged me with a $99 cancellation fee for canceling my membership! Do not join this gym!.... more
I've gone to this gym for about a month. Overall, it's pretty mediocre. The thing that's disappointing is that if the management were a bit more proactive about a couple things, it could actually be a really good deal.... more
air conditioning has been broken for months. no towels in the locker room. stairclimber has been broken for at least 3 months.. All of the gyms that I have attended were the best staff this gym has ever employed.... more
I called regarding an issue on my girlfriends account. The manager refused to speak to me because it was my gf account which is understandable. I then requested to speak regarding my account in which I was then told shes now in a training session and cannot speak to me .... more
You get what you pay for. NYSC is a mid-tier health club for mid-tier prices. I like that membership allows you to visit all non-Premier clubs and there are plenty in the city. You get fresh towels and this club is very large over 4 floors with the same equipment as most other clubs.... more
Good gym. Many different simulators, good trainers with which you can deal individually. Large area for workout. Group classes are held in the morning and evening, the schedule can be viewed on the club's website.... more
This location is in a ideal spot right in between from work and home for me. The actual gym can definitely use some color, it looks very dingy and worn out. Some machines are ripped up and kinda old.... more
Equipment, especially the treadmills, is constantly broken. There is currently four treadmills broken, one of which has been broken since December. The inclines don't work on the newer treadmills.... more
Canceling your membership is a nightmare. The holding company has been sued by the attorney general over this issue. The BBB gives them an F for similar reasons. Save yourself the headache.... more
Terrible place to work out. There is no AC, and the air is so bad, it almost makes you pass out after 5 min time spent. A lot of the machines are not functional. The smell on the second floor is absolutely repulsive, which makes you want to run away even before any attempt to exercise.... more
An ok gym when everything is working. First off, many cardio machines are broken and remain broken for a really long time . And a lot of their TVs don't work. Elsewhere it feels really cramped and you kind of have to walk through other people's personal sessions to get to the locker rooms.... more
I am impressed with this location , and I feel like it's a hidden gem. Not very crowded at peak hours, and they are constantly cleaning. My favorite part about this gym though is Sierra.... more
This club is more than adequate and the staff is amazing. I live here in the area and have been a member for years. I am very fortunate that my schedule allows for me to workout on off times so when I am there the place is pretty much empty.... more
Half the machines are always out of order. The weights are never organized. The place is cleaned with about the same effort as my 8 yo son cleans his room. I can't be sure, but I think the place might have BEDBUGS OR FLEAS.... more
I was a member of NYSC for over two years, until they raised my membership rate twice within 12 months, increasing my monthly dues over 40%. This was all after I was told that my rate would be locked in over the same period of time.... more
Absolutely worst experience ever. They'll do anything to get you to sign up. I transferred over from another location and got hit with two annual fees within a month and then a year later they bumped my monthly fee even tho the guy who signed me up said that wouldn't happen.... more
This is the Rego Park gym of the New York Sports Club . Its right off of Queens Boulevard and convenient to the 67th Street Subway Station. Street parkign can be hard to find- there are parking lots in the area.... more
It was a quiet place. Worked out left. . I was a member here for a year and a half. Facilities at the Irving Plaza gym are pretty bad. The AC went out for months during the summer, I once helped the manager and a trainer catch a cockroach in the turf area, the steam room is constantly broken, and I'm pretty sure I got athletes foot in the locker room.... more
Do not go with NYSC- THEY ARE THIEVES! I've been trying to cancel my membership for 2 months and wasn't able to because you have to go in person. They were not able to accommodate the fact that I was not able to come in person.... more
This is my first time at nysc. I was unclear about which membership is best for me. I am a college student and a full time single mom. I wasnt even sure I could afford it. I took a risk and got and called.... more
Pros: Much less busy if you know when to go, generally between 10 and noon. Staff is pretty friendly, the place typically kept up well. Cons: Not directed at the gym/staff but holy cow the members are comprised of awful people.... more
No a/c I'm the exercise room.. Worst experience ever. Disappointed. Bad management!... more
Very good teachers and classes, not kept very clean in studios and class. areas ,am very worried with virus situation ,may avoid going here ,no wipes floors dirty old stains on floors.... more
There has been no hot water for over three weeks, nobody can predict when it will be back, and there is no extra cleaning protocol during a pandemic. Equipment is broken for months and the 50lb weights disappeared sometime in the spring.... more
I have had billing issues regarding the personal training. I asked that it be cancelled, but my request was not honored and the membership was frozen so that they could charge me for more sessions.... more
Very good! Very fancy. Best branch of NYSC in the city. I travel from midtown just to use the Netflix powered treadmills. The weight room is huge and spacious. Whatever anyone complained about before is fixed.... more
BEWARE!!! Stay away!! My friend's husband became a member. My Friend was NOT interested. The club created a membership for her anyway and has been charging her husband's card for it.... more
Let's see no cell service and YOU CANNOT DRINK FROM THE WATER FOUNTAIN. HASNT NEEN CLEANED IN WEEKS. The Monday Burn class with the Japanese Teacher was good. Also they need to fold the towels at the front desk.... more
In a environment of more and more gym facilities, NYSC remains a real classic gym environment for those serious about fitness and none of the "frills". Been a member for 19 years. For those that felt it more productive to trash your gym facility, ask yourself have I really been a part of the change I seek? Have I practiced proper gym etiquette and contributed to my gym ? Anyone can walk in and request a printed copy of your Agreement.... more
Good gym. Some equipment is dated but good gym overall. Be careful when you sign the contract.... more
I worked at this location for 4 months. From January 2018 to April 2018. As everyone can see from the comments the issues at this location started way before I worked there. I did as much as I could to fix as many issues as I could and anyone who was a member there knew I had an open door policy for ALL members.... more
My wife canceled her membership 7 months ago New York sports club continued to bill us we spoke with managers every month to no avail we had to call our bank and put a stop to New York sports club otherwise we would still be getting billed.... more
This gym leaves much to be desired. Poor layout, small locker rooms with tiny lockers, old showers. Yes, they have equipment but its extremely limited. I kept expecting that I was missing a level.... more
