I attribute my healing, in large part, to Railyard Fitness. It is such a special, inspiring and nourishing place. I honestly wake up excited to go the gym.
I have been an athlete much of my life, though never much of a gym-goer; they often feel too industrial and machismo to me. These years, the mountains are where I feel most nourished. However, after having my daughter and becoming quite ill, I had to halt much of my rigorous activity and limit my sun exposure. Though motherhood has been the deepest joy for me, I have often neglected my own health and wellness. Navigating single motherhood, school, work and so on, took over my days. I no longer felt strong or vibrant.
When I decided to join Railyard Fitness, I didn't expect much. I figured maybe I would exercise a couple of times/week for a month and then abandon it and return to my home exercises instead. I figured I could at least check that box off as something I "tried". However, this wasn't the case at all. This has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself, and consequently for my daughter. I feel GREAT!
I haven't taken any of the classes yet, mainly due to my tight schedule but I have utilized the gym well, from the weights to the cardio equipment, to the stretching area and even the rings. Every room is so light filled and welcoming. Instead of the stuffy/stagnant air that I often dislike in gyms, Railyard Fitness has huge windows and glass doors, often open to the beautiful high desert air and endless blue sky.
The staff and trainers are so warm and friendly. I feel encouraged and motivated by their kind words and also their commitment to their own health and well-being. All and all, I feel inspired. More than that (and I do not say this lightly), I feel HAPPY, STRONG and EMBODIED; it shows in my work, my motherhood and my body/spirit/mind.
If I had before and after photos, they would certainly show more muscle mass and a leaner body, but more than that, they would show a joy and strength that goes beyond any "gains".
Thank you, Railyard Fitness, for helping me wake up to my own healing and wellness. This is the beginning of a long journey yet.
