I have taken my CCW class and a kinfe class at RAC, and I greatly enjoyed both. Rick and Heather are very knowledgeable and are excellent instructors. I look forward to taking more classes in the future.

Heather and the other class members are all extremely welcoming and down to earth....as a new student it's very encouraging and easy to feel at home. So glad I joined!

10/2018 Wow. My friend goes here so i was looking into it as well.. But after reading the responses of the owners to the reviews of customers, im floored. Not just one nasty response, but bunches. Nasty, rude, arrogant responses to people. Obviously some google reviews will be from people who want to remain annonynous.. Ie fake names. It doesn't make them fake reviews. It makes them afraid to face bull**** attitudes that youve obviously already given them. You act like bullies Seems to me no one need bother go in face to face to experience the sad attitudes that this company is reflecting. Pull it up people. Reread your responses or have a co worker review them before you respond to your customers. This kind of behavior is whats going wrong w the world today. To be straight to the point, if you are looking to have fun while getting your butt kicked this is the place to go. We are all laughing while enduring the butt kicking of a lifetime. Heather and Rick will make sure that you get the best workout possible but make it as fun as possible. Heather's nutrition tips and tricks make sure that you get your workout's worth. Never have had so much fun during a workout as the classes Rick and Heather teach. Thank you guys!

Rick and Heather have been teaching weapons handling and self defense for a very long time as evidenced by their class content and quality of teaching skill. No fluff, just the necessary elements to bring most individuals to a higher level of proficiency with their weapon of choice. Thanks for simplifying things you two!

I've been going to RAC for 7 years now and couldn't reccomend a better gym. These guys are awesome! I started out in Heather's cardio classes then moved over to jiu jitsu, then eventually to the MMA. They have classes for everyone. I love to do all the classes they have to offer. I even took their CCW class and had a great time. Rick taught me many things in the their CCW class, along with a couple of cool tacticle moves, which was super fun. I also did Heather's nutrition plan and lost 15 pounds in two months! I seriously have done everything they have to offer here and am definitely not disappointed!. I have to add that it's sad to read some of these reviews on here are so disappointing and misleading. Some of these people must not be happy with their lives and sadly they didn't give Rick and Heather a chance. Or they must have RAC confused with another gym. Rick and Heather are good people and would do anything to help others improve themselves.

My wife, sister, brother-in-law and myself have taken a few CCW classes with the staff at RAC. Nothing but a good experience all around. I feel they have had our best interest in mind when they teach the way they do. I'm now more comfortable handling and shooting my pistol and a more prepared should I have to use it. Thank you Rick,Heather and Oscar for doing what you do.

Very unprofessional and rude staff! The setting was very uncomfortable and they mix too many levels together. Putting Advanced fighters with beginners is extremely unsafe in my opinion.

Estoy buscando un gimnasio para mi hijo y está lleno de gente aquí. la gente tiene edades diferentes, por lo que mi hijo no encajaba en ningún lado y el estacionamiento era malo. Tambien un poco caro.

OMG! Look at the owner's responses! So unprofessional. Do ju jitsu instead if you're in Reno. I spoke with Mrs. Collup who is a sweetheart but the Main owner was totally abrassive and a bit...creepy. Sorry guys maybe you should get some managers and let them help you with customer relations - lots to be learned. Also gym cleanliness is a must! Gotta replace those mats! Phewie! Old sweat smell permeating everywhere.

Folks... Just read the response. Brag, Insult and Lie just like I said. FWIW I am decorated as a sharpshooter in both rifle and pistol and put 30/30 right in the middle of their stupid paper plate. My wife's looked like 15 - 20ish hits to me but they have no clue. She might have legit failed with them demeaning and UNSAFEly rushing her but they don't keep track! I also still have written notes with the 14 answers they gave us before handing out the test! LIARS! CCW class. Absolutely TERRIBLE! One of the worst education experiences in 40 years. Rick is an egomaniacal narcissist. He confuses the authority of being a RO with verbal abuse and personal denigration. He didn't teach us at all. Just hours of bragging and opining and judgement! Then they massively CHEAT on both the written and shooting tests to whatever arbitrary outcome suits his subjective perspective. Folks, if you value your integrity you will RUN AWAY from this place. I promise he won't care. He told our class a dozen times that customers perspectives meant nothing and if we didn't like it we should leave. Everyone seemed pretty hardcore, not a gym for all shapes and sizes. Small gym with one entrance. No AC, expensive equipment, unfortunately didn't feel like the two owners could accommodate the 50 people in the gym - they could spend an extra dollar for extra instructors. Just the two owners as head instructors was a bit intimidating.

Owners care more about money than anything regarding the gyms quality or customer relations. Keep your distance, you'll get taken advantage of. Went to the gym and wasn't very impressed and interestingly enough, I was interested in a bronco online (turns out it was the owners) he had it parked out front for a month or two, unable to sell it. There were about three different ads I found of his online for this Bronco and all of them had the same skimpy detail and high price. When I reached out to learn more about the vehicle he didn't seem to know anything about it's mechanical issues just kept it short and sweet. The ads varied in price and the one ad I responded to was for 4k and on Facebook the vehicle was selling at $2800. As you can see everything was fishy, he wouldn't stop calling and texting me to see if I wanted to buy after he failed to inform me on the vehicles' condition many times. So, this guy will not refund you and will lie to get your business. Stay cautious gym lovers.

Expensive, dirty (fungus/staph) horrible location, no parking, boring training circuits, rude owners, not enough fighters to maintain a class which could help one improve with others at the same weight and skill. Story time! I paid a flat rate of $600 for 12 months of MMA and after attending 6 classes I caught a skin staph infection which spread across my body and later had to be taken to the ER for. I let Rick and Heather Collup know about the situation and was shrugged at (literally he wouldn't even make eye contact with me and shrugged at me) - Which leads me to believe they get a lot of cases of people paying a flat rate and not refunding them when their dirty mats produce expensive clinic visits. So it seems like they're a bit incompetent and money hungry. It was a very painful experience for me and impacted my family in a lot of ways. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I paid 600$ for a year of MMA and after attending a month I had a cut that got infected with staff and spread across my body. I let Rick know about the situation and he didn't have any advice or help by giving any kind of refund. It was a very painful experience for me and impacted my family and I in a lot of ways. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I have been attending the Reno Academy of Combat for over a year, and it is one of the best possible gyms for people looking to start out into Mixed Martial Arts, people looking to get in shape, or just looking to learn a few techniques to defend themselves. All of the fighters at the gym are always more than willing to help any person learn a technique, spar, or just overall assist in getting better. Everyone is incredibly friendly, and not one of the fighters at Rick's gym carries themselves with an ego, or puts on airs. Also Rick is in charge of Ultimate Reno Combat, an absolute top notch promotion for any amateur fighter. As a manager and promoter, Rick is as straightforward and as honest as they come. He never hesitates to put his fighters best interests first.
The workouts at the Reno Academy of Combat are very intense. There is a focus on going 'live' to learn how to think and operate under fight conditions. There is a lot of drilling as well to help teach proper form and technique and to help learn moves properly., Newcomers may feel like they were suddenly thrown into the 'deep end' with this style, but after only a week or two you will spot a difference in your endurance and technique. As long as you have the commitment, and keep attending classes you will get better.
Reno Academy of Combat is a first class operation run by an individual who truly cares about his fighters. It is a clean gym, with top notch trainers, and filled with good people who are always willing ot help a newcomer because they remember what it is like to be new. If you have ever wanted to try Mixed Martial Arts, I cannot encourage you strongly enough to attend the Reno Academy of Combat.
