Awesome, and clean gym!! They have extensive equipment for everything I need. Chance helped me get set up with my membership. Great guy and he genuinely cared about helping me. I love this place!
Chance was very helpful and kind. He answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. Thanks for making me feel comfortable. I can't wait to bring the kids tomorrow.
Very nice place! The equipment is great and the staff was very helpful. I've worked with Chance and personally he's been awesome to work with. I have always been one to be in and out of the gym, and he has kept me motivated to stay at it and work towards my goals!
Clean facility, attentive staff, excellent range of equipment and the amenities offered are a good bang for your buck. I signed up with Chance who made pricing very affordable for me and was very knowledgeable about where I should start in my workout journey... was even able to throw in a few personal training sessions! Definitely recommend Genesis and more specifically, Chance.
New manager is making changes! Cleaning the gym up, getting equipment repaired and has more improvements planned in the near future. Very pleased and can now recommend our gym.
Have been a member since it opened and love location. Today front door broke, 2 light fixtures next to men's locker room sink missing cover with wires hanging out, parts laying on counter from sink, and no hand sanitizer in dispenser. I'm about done.
Josiah was incredibly rude and pushy to my sister, who came in for a free day pass and to checkout the club. He gave her the high pressure sales pitch, and made her feel like she was going to be a "turn and burn" sale. Made her feel like He obviously didn't care about her as a person, just wanted the sale. When she didn't signup that day, he was dismissive and even more rude to her.

It is a great gym and the classes are great. However, it is very irritating when nobody shows up to open the gym at 5:00am. This happened this morning, and it has happened many times before in the past.

i got a free guest pass to this gym and thought I would try it out. Wow.
This is the dirtiest gym i have ever been in. My hands actually had an odor that stuck to them for 24 hours from gripping the equipment. I noticed the smell when i was on the stair machine and my hands just stank afterwards even though i cleaned it before i used it. There are stains all over the carpet and dirt everywhere. There seems to be a lot of people working there in sales but no one to do the work to maintain it. No paper towels or cleaning solution in bottles. Had to ask to have them refilled. Would not spend money to join here as if it were to go downhill from here I'm not sure how bad it could possibly get. Pass.

I asked my friends who go still go there if the gym was any cleaner and they said if anything it has gotten worse. I am unclear how you run a gym and do not clean the bathrooms at least once a day. There were stains in the toilets and on the counters in the bathroom FOR DAYS. An odor is prevalent in the restrooms that is horrible. Also apparently a bathroom stall that has been out of order for over a month. Wonder if the health department ever pays them a visit? Apparently there are several people working the "desks" up front but no one that can refill paper towels or wipe off a counter or piece of equipment. I started going here in February and it appears to be going down hill. Biggest thing is it is not clean! On some of the equipment I don't like using it as when you look down there is so much hair and dust it make one almost ill. At least they finally repaired the equipment that had the padding sticking out all over. I took the time to sent an email to Genesis and heard nothing back and nothing done to clean the gym. It also seems there are fewer and fewer people in the gym.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. I went to this gym location every since I was a kid in high school learning out to workout when it was Summit Fitness. All of the gyms since them were decent. But since they became Genesis it has by far been the worst gym I have ever been a member of. It is filthy and disgusting. If you go to the leg machines like the leg press for example, you will notice an ungodly amount of leg hairs, toe nails, and other types of hair that I don't want to know what part of the body they came from. You will also find that in between the mats by the dumbbells. For the price they charge you'd think they would have a decent cleaning crew. On top of all that, after I cancelled I was charged for the next month and they wouldn't refund my money because I have to give them a "30 day" notice. Well the employee that went over all of the cancellation paperwork with me never mentioned this. I hope my one month payment was worth you guys getting blasted on every website you can possibly write a review for. It disgusts me that you ruined the gym I was so passionate about growing up to the point that I had to cancel and join another gym.

I just started using the Lee's Summit Genesis gym, and I love it so far. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. There is so much equipment to meet all my needs and a list of group classes included to give some extra challenges is my workout routines.
We have been very pleased with Genesis Lee's Summit West! My husband works with Brett on Mondays and it is really helping with his Parkinson's! We are always greeted with a friendly smile at the front desk when we arrive. I take Silver Sneakers classes and love our instructors Lita, Lisa and Jodi! They are the best--feel so much better after each and every session.
Love the friendly staff and always clean facility. I used to work at an excercise club so I am very particular when it comes to organization and cleanliness and I am very impressed with Genesis Lee's Summit West. I also utilize the personal trainers and they are fantastic! Knowledgeable, encouraging, and tenacious! They pull the best out of you! This club is a place where you can feel comfortable in who you are and can press into who you wish to become! Excellent!!!
I'm not sure if this one is talking about Oldham pkwy or 291 HIWY as I go to both. Oldham pkwy is my personal favorite. The locker room is always clean, the equipment well kept, the ladies rest room is always supplied whenever I use the facilities. However I'm forced to go to 291 on water aerobic days. where the instructors are very kind, and know their job. But the ladies rest room never have toilet seat covers. I feel it is unsanitary not to stock them. So I have to give 291 a 2 star review and Oldham pkwy gets the 5 .
Quiet gym. Nice clean locker rooms. Equipment free to use. People are out of your way. Friendly staff and always helpful.
Family friendly atmosphere with great up to date equipment to use and awesome trainers that are eager to help you with questions or help with the equipment. All around awesome place to work out.
Not a bad place to work out but disappointed that they continued to charge me after I canceled. Its bad enough that you have to go in to cancel and get pressured not to, then to deal with charges still coming out is far from ideal.

The front desk staff at this gym are friendly and knowledgeable. I take many different group classes here and have loved every class and every teacher, especially Julia!
There are many aspects to look at when reviewing this gym. I was fortunate to have been grandfathered in from my old 24 hour fitness days, so there have been no fees or changes in my rate since the switch to Genesis. I know the start up fee is sometimes waived or reduced with promotions but the thing to me that's a hard sell about Genesis is I hear it's a 3 year commitment. Regardless, there are many joining. With most if not all gyms, there are start up fees. With Planet Fitness, for example, they charge you a startup fee every year regardless of whether or not you cancel, which I've never understood.
As far as this particular Genesis location is concerned, it inherited the old Gold's Gym hours, so it is not open 24 hours a day like the Genesis on 39th Street in Independence. It's much more spaced out than what I was used to, which is a good thing. It's a very large gym with a lot of equipment. The contract/monthly payment aside, I can't see anyone not enjoying their workout here as long as they can get there before 11. I primarily go to the location in Independence because I'm a night owl.
