Went to this gym today. I'm not a member, but got 7 day free pass. Gym was very clean, young man at desk, was very polite very helpful. I was working out in a few minutes. They have all the equipment u could ask for. I give genesis club 2 thumbs up! If u live in independence check them out!! Thanks 4 all your help, see u tomorrow.. ( Get Some)...
The gym is clean and the equipment is well kept. The only complaint I have is related to the few, very few, who will not re-rack their weights or stand on equipment for 30 minutes talking, but you will have that almost everywhere you. If you are the outgoing type you will make some new friends. If you are the focused type you should do fine as well. You make it what it is.
Been with genesis since they took over 24 hour fitness. Still a great gym. My gym could use a face lift but still a great atmosphere.
Training with Andrew was great, I felt really comfortable, learned a lot, and felt more confident moving forward with a new routine. The ladies in the kid's club are so sweet and my daughter never wants to leave. Nikki has been great since day one - she gave us the tour, got us signed up, helped me on my first day, and has been there for any questions I've had since.
You have to give them collateral (edit: phone, keys, wallet, ID) to even use the medicine balls. It took months to get parking lot lights on after the last time change which was a major safety issue. I have creepy interactions with male members all the time, from one asking to rub my forehead to another trying to publically shame me for not avoiding them in the dark parking lot.
EDIT: Uhh nice try putting the onus back on me communicate with you... I actually did email you about this at this email address months ago with no response.
I enjoy this gym. Childcare is included in my membership so that's a huge plus for me. Genesis has plenty of ellipticals and treadmills and a fair amount of weight lifting equipment. I like the basketball court and the sauna. There's a steam room, pool and hot tub as well.
I thoroughly enjoy this gym because it's clean, it has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. The Staff members are polite & professional/supportive fitness trainer's.
I love the new exercise equipments they have along with the exercise programs they offer: yoga, Zumba & more. Plus, it's a 24/7 facility except on holiday's and the membership fees are reasonable.
I have been a member since 2000. The club looks like new with all equipment replaced and a new line-up of classes. The staff is friendly and ready to help you have a great workout.

Great place to workout! Sometimes can be a little packed but great person trainers and equipment always clean and everything stocked no matter the hour. Always something improving and looking better everytime I go in. Very friendly and hardworking staff.

Feel like I'm in a cattle store when I visit. I've visited several times and it's been busy, busy, busy all times if the day. They have all the equipment you'd want, but at a premium membership price. I don't want to sign up for a two year agreement at a place with aged equipment. Lots of better options in my opinion.

Love this place. They support a wonderful swimming pool, offer classes led by knowledgeable instructors, and offer a large variety well kept up exercise equipment including free weights. The staff is supportive.
Bad Customer Service! That new guy Ed, shouldn't be at the front desk. His demeanor is harsh and not welcoming. Unlike the Ed that has been there for years, he comes across like an upset security guard. When you pay the amount we do you should be greeted with a smile, it feels good to walk in like that. Almost every time I come in he looks at me stern and barely belts out a greeting like it's taking everything in him to be nice. And he's stopped me multiple times because he can't multitask between his duties. Get him to be nicer at his job or find someone more qualified!
Thanks,
Long time member

Basically just the leftovers of 24 fitness with a new sign out front. Be careful they will leave your CC information laying around. I was able to see many credit card numbers on contracts just laying around. All their computers seem to be running unlicensed Windows OS as well...
The staff is amazing. They always ask questions making sure you are squared away. The trainers are very useful and full of information. To have multiple free weight and machine choices is great for when I need to switch up my routine. Definitely happy I switched to Genesis.

I love this place. Awesome staff, good equipment. Some people here will creep on you in the hot tub but usually they back off if u go into the steam room. The bathrooms are clean, but they need towels (especially in the pool room). They are a bit more pricier than planet fitness but well worth my money and time. If you ever wanted to cancel the cancellation fee is $275 so if you sign up make sure your committed.

I have been a long time member of this club as 24hour fitness. The previous owners let it run down. The club now called Genesis's new owners r making some much needed repairs, improvements, not to mention maintenance. In spite of it all I have been a faithful member. I'll b happy to see the end results of all their efforts.
I walked into this club thinking that maybe they have changed from when they were 24hr fitness. I was a member more than 8 years ago and the equipment was far from new then, so I kind of expected a different look and feel to the club sense they are under new ownership. The equipment that was there was the exact same equipment that has always been there. I read the reviews before I went and a lot of them said that they were promised new equipment soon but never came through with it. The sales guy said the exact same thing to me when I told him the equipment was the same thing that was here 8+ years ago.
The sales team there is just to make sales with whatever promises and lies they can manage. I was told that there wasn't another gym that offered child care in the area (one of the reasons I looked into genesis is because I knew they had childcare). But as it turns out, there were a lot of options for gyms with childcare and better more up to date equipment and facilities just down the road with lower costs.
They also have insane fee's that they so generously wave for you, but the prices are crazy high too. The only way to get the prices down to just somewhat expensive is to sign a 3 year agreement that will cost you $150 to get out of. I do not plan to live here for the next 3 years so signing a 3 year contract was not something I was willing to do. My wife and I looked else where and found something more affordable month to month with no contract.

Decent at best. Equipment is usually clean and in good working order. However the staff is pretty unhelpful, they usually just sit at the desk on their phones. You can pretty much bet on toiletries and paper towels not being stocked. Locker rooms are always pretty clean though. Good mix of clientele that is always respectful.

I've been a member since Dec, 2005. A gym being open 24 hours is a big thing for me. There are some that seem to think the gym is not clean or as clean as it could be, but I have never had an issue with the cleanliness of the gym - especially in recent times. The parking lot is a bit dark, but I've never personally had any problems. I really don't have any complaints about this gym.
While more expensive than other gyms this place makes it worth it. In a day I can sit in the sauna then go hit the free weights, do a cool down in the pool or on a treadmill or elliptical then relax in the hot tub. Then you can wrap up your day with some yoga.
I have yet to see another gym that can offer all of that wrapped into a nice well maintained package.
The place isn't brand new, its a little older than some other clubs but, I find the staff helpful, the clientele are friendly enough, but, it's not a social club. My trainer is awesome. I've never been made to feel out of place as a beginner. The pool, sauna and classes are great amenities. A welcome change from the other local clubs.
The staff here is so friendly and helpful. I have been to a few gyms before and none of them have taken a personal interest in me. Genesis actually wants you to be successful. They offer free personal training sessions to get you started and set up for success. The facilities are clean and well maintained. I really enjoy coming in multiple times a week and seeing familiar faces.

I love coming to the gym especially aqua class. With my health issues taking aqua class is an easy way for me to exercise and not out over do it. The instructors are amazing I can go at my own pace or even kick up a notch . I enjoy coming to the class and look forward to each new one.
I have been thoroughly impressed with everything. The staff has been extremely kind and helpful. I love the fact there are so many variations to getting healthy and fit. My personal trainer is amazing. He's very encouraging and patient with me. He has tons of knowledge on the body and what works best for my age group. I am very excited to be here and to get my weight off and get in shape!
