Visiting on business. No walk--ins. Total bummer.
I travel all around the world and the Saint Paul Athletic Club is hands down one of the most beautiful clubs you'll find. They did a remarkable job updating this while preserving the incredible historic architectural detail. Spacious, open, inviting - and way cool pool.
They have free lockers that have dial combination on it. The front desk people are always super nice. Usually the locker room is clean.
Great gym. Not too many people here and plenty of equipment. Comparable to a LifeTime fitness. Keep records of when you elect to cancel your membership though, I was almost charged an extra month due to a mix up. Overall great experience, the staff is super friendly.
This gym has really been going down hill in the past six months or so and I don't not see it improving anytime soon. I have been a member here since they opened. I live in the Downtown St. Paul area, and I work out 4-5 days a week, so one of the ONLY reasons that keeps me here is the convenience, and the only other options are the YMCA in the area which is worse(I was a member there too for awhile), and an Anytime Fitness which isn't much better than a hotel gym. I think one of the main factors is the change in management. The current manager's name is Sarah. I have no problem dropping names because I know they don't read and or care about customer satisfaction. Just to be clear, I am not a difficult person to please, I just appreciate the same professionalism giving to me that is expected of me at my place of employment. I know it may not be her "dream job", but you can definitely tell that this Sarah really could care less about any member or gym issues. I was charged double for my membership in a month, and after multiple calls and being told "Yeah, yeah, it's being taken care of", I have yet to see a refund. Then there are some of the staff that work at the desk. 99% of the time they don't even acknowledge you because they are too busy with their feet kicked up on the desk looking down at their phones. It's really unfortunate because the staff used to be great. Then there is the issue of the equipment. The equipment wasn't the best when the gym first opened, and now after some years the bargain basement junk is getting even worse, partly because it's some of the cheapest equipment made and also from years of wear and tear and people who bang it up because they don't know how to use is correctly. All of the bench press stations are lop-sided, and something that should be as easy as taking it apart and putting back together again the right way I guess is too difficult for them to do. So it's very obvious they don't care about the quality of the equipment. I think they care more about people joining their "Fusion"(Cross-s##t basically) classes then anything else. Then the icing on the proverbial cake is the fact they charge about 100 bucks per month for a standard gym membership, which the price was raised about a year ago, and interestingly enough the "executive" membership wasn't touched. So all in all, the gym isn't the most horrible place I've worked out at. It has the potential to be a great gym, but it's obvious the owners don't care and they have no interest in putting any money into it. If you are a "weekend warrior" or a "casual", then this place will probably be your dream come true, but if you are serious about working out and want to feel like you are actually getting your money's worth at the same time, then I highly suggest going elsewhere, as I am working on doing presently.
Was very satisfied with the gym, equipment and staff. I was on vacation so MY wife and I got a one day pass. The staff was very accommodating. Would stop by again when I am in the area!

The location of this club is at down town. So parking is a big problem. Every time, I have to pay about 2-5 dollar for the parking fees. But the club is good. I like it.

Most of the staff is nice. I usually work out at night. Had two day sessions recently. Turned out bad. 80 bucks doesn't get you into the pool. Also, the basic membership cardio are equipment, the buttons do not work. They had signs up all last month about having a thief stealing from the lockers. They trend towards upscale lawyer types. The sauna was broken for an entire month. There is no music in the fitness area. The TVs when doing cardio are hardly visible. They do not offer any evening classes, but your gonna get charged.
been a member here for three years. Best gym I am ever belonged to.
This is a really nice club. More important, great trainers and instructors! #fusionbyspac is a workout of the day like crossfit, including heavy weights, cardio and HIIT. Come use a free trial!
