Liza, the manager, is super kind and helpful. She always says hello and goodbye and went above and beyond to resolve a minor issue. I enjoy Anytime as my neighborhood fitness center!
Beautiful spacious gym, with modern equipment.
I just moved to St Paul and for me - finding a gym that I am comfortable in is very important. After reviewing my options and trying a few clubs I chose AF. I have worked out in several AF clubs before and like others this club meets my needs. The friendly neighborhood club environment feels right for me.
Liza the manager who enrolled was very nice . She did not pressure me , gave me a thorough tour and she patiently answered all of my questions while clearly reviewing the membership benefits and options.
The facility is very clean , well equipped and the members take care of their club. Another thing I like is the AF app that has sample workouts that I can use to design a workout program. (Very helpful:)
I am so happy to be a new member and I will be recruiting my friends to join.
Keep up the great work! - Christian C
I've been a member of Anytime Fitness (Grand Ave - St. Paul) for 6 months now. My experience with the gym/staff has been wonderful. The gym offers everything that members need to conduct a diversified work out regimen. Staff is ALWAYS warm and inviting and willing to help you out with anything you need. Very clean and functional. No place I'd rather workout.
When I moved to the St. Paul area, I was looking for a gym that had a positive, welcoming environment. I found that here at Anytime Fitness Grand Avenue St. Paul. The moment I joined, Liza made me feel so welcomed. She said hi to me every day, and when I was not going for a few days, she was always wondering why I was not there! She held me accountable, and I really appreciated her kindness.
I definitely recommend this Anytime Fitness to everyone!!!
This gym offers a good amount of equipment and the staff is friendly, however this smaller-sized Anytime is starting to suffer from overcrowding. If you want to hit the weights in a consistent and comfortable manner, FORGET ABOUT IT unless you go after 11pm. My other gripe is the air quality. I get it, its a gym, but the amount of sweat, chemicals and body odor lingering in the air is due in part to the location having only a single set of windows and no natural ventilation.
It would be great if the cancer-inducing tanning salon would move out so this business could double in size. Too small for west Saint Paul.

Good cardio set-up. Free weights and machines are really lacking. Wear and tear is showing. With only two bathrooms you can find yourself waiting to change, etc. Staff could engage more with the customers.
EDIT/UPDATE: Met the owner and new manager. They are working very hard to improve the overall functionality and experience. Great improvements so far.

First of all, I think it's important to evaluate this gym on its own terms. In other words, an apples to oranges comparison between Anytime Fitness on Grand Avenue and say, Planet Fitness or a Gold's Gym or a Crossfit Box isn't a fair metric. For what it is - a very basic, compact, 24-hour-accessible neighborhood gym - it rocks. Liza, the general manager, and Jessica, the personal trainer, have gone out of their way to build a sense of community and culture among everybody who walks through the doors, and there's very much a "family" vibe going on. As somebody who's lifted at hardcore gyms filled with aspiring (or already minted) IFBB bikini pros, as well as retirement-home rec center facilities filled with fairly feeble octogenarians, this is a great middle-of-the-road gym that can accommodate everybody from those whose idea of "fitness" is steady-state cardio to those with more advanced understandings of training for functional movement. The facilities are very clean and well lit with natural light, there's towels in abundance, the aesthetic is neutral and understated (take a clue, Planet Fitness), and with the exception of an inclined leg press, they have pretty much everything almost anybody would need. Is this a gym for serious competitors or athletes? No, nor does it pretend to be. For 99% of other people, it's a nicely appointed, super positive, well-staffed, affordable fitness solution.

ATF is my first gym membership and I'm happy I chose this location. I was afraid I wasn't going to like "going to the gym" but that was quickly resolved from the amount of help and support i received from the manager and personal trainers.
From day one Liza (manager) and Jessica (personal trainer) were so positive and willing to answer any questions and show me different techniques besides using the many machines and weights that are available. I've been here just over two months now and the positive energy from not only the staff but also the members is one of the many reasons I keep going back to my Grand Ave gym. I find it's refreshing to be greated with a smile and treated like a member not a number.
Thank you for reading! Hope to see you there!

The good:
great location! Right on Grand Avenue, across from the Lexington. They have strong wifi, some small item lockers, cubbies, community fitness events, fun music and it is usually clean.
The bad:
The new owner was unpleasant when I went to sign up after my trial. She was not willing to budge with sign up fees or let me know when the next 'sale' would be. I went to a different location and signed up with no fees and a free first month. The punching bag is broken and could easily injure someone.
Great gym. It's small but well-maintained, had most things you could need, and it's rarely crowded. The new manager Liza is the best!

This location is nice for an Anytime gym. There are plenty of free weights and two squat/bench racks as well as cable machines. Small group classes are also available. *New treadmills and ellipticals with tvs were added this year to to replace the old machines.
Poor customer service! I recently moved and am in need of cancelling my membership. If you email them with regarding signing up for a new membership they respond within minutes. If you email them about anything else you do not get a response. I was charged a fee for billing which was due to their website being down. I contacted them and was told they would refund the fee but never saw it and never received a response to my multiple requests. I should not need to take work off to drive there to cancel my membership, a simple contract (which has lapsed) can be canceled vie email. They intentionally ignore you if you have any request other than something resulting in a sale for them. I would not recommend this gym.
It's often dirty, consistently out of towels and there always seems to be at least one treadmill not working. While the staff is nice, they could be doing a lot more for the general upkeep of the gym.
Location is great and it's the most convenient place to workout for anyone in the area, but this probably contributes to the sub-par conditions.
I paused my account and they started it again without notifying me. Didn't realize right away and they didn't respond to my messages to cancel (phone calls and emails from the anytime website to this gym). I had to show up in person and they did not refund me for the months they charged me without notification despite saying that the owners would contact me. They never did. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they didn't respond to that either. To me, this is an unresponsive and unethical operation.
Switched from Stratera. Great gym. Little tight, but well thought out
