Great Facility. Strict on rules but for good reasons. Restrooms could be kept in better working order outside the weight lifting area.

This is a state of the art workout center with a few unique options beyond all the machines, weights & cardio. There is a 9lap per mile indoor track. The pool area is divided into a lap swim pool plus another separate room for physical therapy, lazy river, 0 depth entry kids pool and water slide. Also steam and sauna rooms. The climbing wall is a real nice option for adults and kids.

Really nice facility, I would strongly encourage you not to have swimming lessons there though. I am done taking my kids there, classes are regularly getting done 15 minutes early. I paid for an hour not 45 min. My daughter has an hour long class and you rarely see the instructor helping much, more less getting in the pool. In past swimming lessons I had tried to get a hold of the aquatics director, but would never get a call back. The lessons are a lot of time taught by kids, I think my daughter's current instructor is around 13.

I gave this facility one star due to having a vape in my possession. A staff walked by inside but didn't say anything to myself nor my brother we were not using it. It was sitting out while we were changing and we put it back in our bags when we went to go into the sauna. We come back from the sauna and swimming to find a note stating our bag is at the front desk which they took our towels as well. After waiting about 30 minutes we realize the cop has been called and I was escorted out and had to sign a no trespassing. Since e-cigs and Vapes are not allowed on the property. No staff satin spoke with me or my brother on what was going on at this time. They have not contacted my mom about what was going on either. She is the main person on the account. I've tried to email managers and the director over there explaining it was a simple accident I apologize very professional and very courteous and I have not heard anything back. The reason I have not called yet is because I am out of the country on a vacation and I don't have international calling. I find the staff unprofessional and I find it Shady that they do not contact my mom and they contact the police right away. The staff didn't let me know what was going on. I have never gotten in trouble and went there on a regular basis. The fact that the staff can't have any respect and even contact me or let me know what's going on while it's happening is very rude.

Never again.

I moved to the St. Cloud area for 3 months, so I was looking for a place to play basketball. I joined the YMCA without trialing it; a HUGE mistake.

If I go to play basketball after work, there are sometimes over 50 people on one court. If you're playing a pickup game, people will start their own game while you are on the other side of the court. It's a complete mess, and there is absolutely no regulation of anything.

In addition to that, while playing at noon or after work, the games that do begin are complete chaos. I have never heard so many profanity in my life. Fights nearly break out every day. It's impossible to finish even one game without the game stopping for trash talking, arguing, etc. It is a complete joke, and the YMCA does NOTHING about it.

Nonetheless, I still wanted to get something out of my membership, so I tried to come in before work some days. That does not work either, as I consistently get kicked off the court for their children's program, even though they are already using all of the other courts.

If you want to use the basketball courts here, go somewhere else. STA Fit has a court in town, and the Whitney center is right across the street.

I messaged a manager at the YMCA epxpressing my concerns, especially about the hostile environment when playing, and she did nothing. I requested a refund for the remainder of my membership (since I purchased for 3 months, and she didn't even bother to reply). If you're looking for a nice weight room, then you will probably be fine. If you want to use a basketball court , save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

Usually do not review places unless it is a 5 star review. This time is a bit different. Every time I have come except this one has been close to 5 stars. There have been a few instances along the way where they tell me a given "rule" they have that most other gyms have no issue with (Taking off your shoes to do squats, Listening to music on your phone w/o headphones as long as the noise does not carry). These rules don't really bug me, I can get past that part.

Came into the gym tonight, pumped up ready to do some cardio. I mind my own business like I always do, plug in my headphones and blast some tunes. As I am running on the elliptical a song comes on that I really like and I am in "my zone". I may have muttered some lyrics out loud not realizing that I did at all. Another member most likely complained to a staff member. The staff member comes over and says something but I could not hear him as my headphones are in. I take them off and he says "tone it down". Does not use any context, and super rude in the tone.

I come to the gym to workout and get the job done. There may be some loud noises but it is a gym, you should be expecting this when you go to a place like this. I don't like feeling like I am at a public library when I go to a place that is meant to get you pumped up and feeling good.

Facility part is good but staff and members need to be a bit more understanding of the environment they are in.

Great new building with lots of equipment with a very open concept. Staff at front desk OK, but certainly not as polite as other YMCA's I have visited. Our daughter frequently visits this YMCA and she loves it, especially the locker rooms and aquatics center. As far as faculties and equipment, certainly one of the best YMCA's there is.

Great facility, aquires most accomadations needed for a recreational facility the only thing's it could use or improve are adding water softener so the showers don't dry out the members small & skin as much when used & the facility could hire some ball rebounder's that only rebound & pass the ball back out to you so the members didn't have to go get the ball after each shot, or maybe the trainers on the downtime between clients could for a cardio workout, just a thought. Thanks

The Saint Cloud YMCA is great facility for all people ! At the Y I feel welcomed and comfortbale. I am able to get my workout in at anytime I come in as well as meet inspired and dedicated people who have simalar health goals as me.

This is a great facility and people here are nice throughout, but the front desk has the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Majority are teens that cares more about fixing each others hair than helping out members. They are also hesitant to help you unless you are their friend. Very unprofessional front desk and it feels like a bunch of high schoolers running the show.

It is hard for my child to have fun here, as rules are so strict, very oppressive but on the other hand appreciate order so still fair for 5 stars as they work hard to have nice facility. We would like to use a certified float for our two year old to master swimming but are told they have life preservers that do not work at all for two year old. I just give up leave this place for the others.

Awesome facility! Wish I lived closer so I could go more often. Love the open concept and their running track!

This is one of the cleanest YMCAs i have ever been too. The staff is very friendly and always seems to be helping someone when they need it. The pools and locker rooms are kept clean . The staff innthe weight room area know how to train and know about all the equipment. I always see them wiping the treadmills down. I am very happy with this place.

We're winter YMCA members, and I'm trying to think of a bad experience I've had, but I can't. Some things do take a bit longer (like most of us, I hate filling out forms) and the facilities are heavily used. However, I always see the staff cleaning and trying to keep up with the user load. I have never seen staff being disrespectful to minorities or others. The YMCA strives to be open to all, and I appreciate that. My exercise classes are fun, members are generally friendly, and I love being a part of the St. Cloud community.

Wow.....what a beautiful facility! Very nice staff as well. Everything looked very clean and well kept. And it has just about everything you could ask for. I'm overall very impressed and glad I became a member.

Went to enjoy the pool and hot tub yesterday. Everything (waterside, hot tub jets, jets for the lazy river, steam in the steam room, etc) shuts off half an hour before the pool closes. Then the pool closes half an hour before the facility closes. Okay, whatever I can deal.
Then I went today to get in some pool time as it helps with old injuries of mine. My fiance and I were told no fewer than three separate times that open swim started at 7pm. At a 6:40pm we were then informed that open swim in the frigid lap pool started at 7pm but the nice warm pool with the lazy river did not have open swim until 7:30pm. Over half of both pools were empty and there were lifeguards on top of the swim instructors. There is no reason for there to not be at least one of the pools open at a reasonable time for open swim, or for a reasonable amount of time, an hour and a half is all you get of open swim and only an hour in the actually nice to swim in pool. Also, what good is a waterside you can almost never use? The membership is anything but cheap and the ENTIRE reason I have a membership here instead of another gym is THE POOL. Seriously considering cancelling our memberships as the poor scheduling is making them useless. We thought this would be fixed with the brand new facility as it was boasted as an "aquatic center" but that is laughable at best. I'm sure the other facilities are nice but they are not the reason for my membership.

If I could leave zero stars I would. I was so excited to join/visit the YMCA because it was newly renovated and supposed to be awesome! We have a 2.5 year old son and were excited for him to get to swim in an indoor pool. However, we were sorely disappointed. When we entered the building, not a single person greeted us, despite several workers standing at the counter. I told them that we have never been here before and we weren't sure of the process. He handed me a form and said "fill this out", so I began to fill out the form. All the while my son was anxious and wanted to go swimming. I filled out the form and handed it back to the, rude young gentleman. He said "$15". I said, actually, we were interested in a membership. He sighed heavily, and at this point, I should have just said forget everything. He came back to me and said, now you need to fill out this form. So, I filled out the form. He said, "Do you have a card?" I gave him my credit card and then he told me it would be about $70 bucks. I asked him what would happen if my health insurance offers a discount, he said, "Oh, I already ran your card". He brought me a brochure and said, if you have any of these insurances, we partner with them and we waive the initial fee, which would mean I would have saved $60. Well, I did have one of those insurances. So I told him and he said I would have to come back next week to talk to Jacob because he didn't know how to process a reversal. No apology. My problem with all of this is that, if he simply asked me what I was there fore and whether or not I had insurance, all of this could have been avoided. All he did was sigh the whole time and treated me like I was such an annoyance to him. Nobody even thanked us for our membership or anything. Finally, we were able to go swim! However, nobody showed us where anything was, so we wandered the halls until we could find the family locker room. It was FILTHY. Like disgusting. I am no germaphobe, but it was horrid. The entire floors were soaked with water. There were bigger family changing rooms with no hooks or anything, so where were we supposed to put our clothes, all over the wet floor??? Then the floor was not only soaking wet, but it was COMPLETELY COVERED in hair! It was so filthy. We also didn't have towels, so I trotted back to the desk to ask them if they had any. They did for 75 cents a piece. Another thing that they could have offered me or told me about right away to save the time. Anyway, we finally went into the pool and my son had a lot of fun. However, there were a lot of 10-12 year old children that were just being brats. The lifeguards would blow the whistle at them and eventually told them to leave, however, these kids didn't listen and so the young and shy lifeguards just got ran over by these kids. They didn't even do anything about it. I was so disappointed. Nobody even thanked us when we left, we said "thank you" and there was silence. I would be extremely horrified if I was the owner or responsible party for this team of incompetent, rude people. Then I called back for a refund and they told me that they wouldn't be giving me a refund and if I want to cancel my membership, they will still charge me for the next month. I am BEYOND right now. I will never go back.

October 25, 2017 14:53

The staff were not very willing to work with me. I just wanted to view the building, but I had to $10 for a day pass before they would even show me around. The weight area is huge, as a previous review states, however they have more room than actual equipment. The equipment they do have lacks variety. This last comment is more personal, but dumbbells only go to 100lbs and all other dumbbells and plates feel much lighter compared to other gyms I go to. The pool, cardio area and basketball courts look very nice for a good bonus. However I will not be going back
