I had very few negative experiences coming to this gym for over a year. The only downside is the cleanliness among members. Not many people wipe down their equipment after using. Other than that, the machines are usually easy to get even during busy hours. Plenty of benches and a few squat racks are usually open without being hogged too much. The ceiling in the basketball court is quite low and never used the pool. Customer service is fairly well.
The place works for me, if you are the type of person that likes off peak time. Let's say, early Saturday morning 8am or 1-3pm work week. You can get in blast a nice get right to it workout in and get out, without a lot of people in your way.
I've been going to the Edina location for several months. Decided to call Hopkins to see if they had a pool. I asked if there was much of a difference between the Hopkins and Edina locations and the person on the phone actually said theirs (Hopkins) was cleaner.
I found that ironic since my review of Edina is mainly about how gross it is there.
Hopkins is cleaner.
For swimmers, there are only 4 lanes (Edina has 5). There aren't any strange mystery currents (at least in the lane I was in), which was really nice. Unless I missed something the hooks to hang things (like a towel for instance) are on the complete opposite side of where you enter the pool area which is a bit odd.
And the Hopkins parking lot is a LOT better!
Jordan A is the only reason I have continued to come back to La Fitness. When I signed up for personal training I knew it wasn't going to be cheap but I didn't know what to do at the gym. After my first year I signed up for more time with him. My friends and family have all told me how great I look and my body feels incredible. Highly recommend him.
I joined this club for group classes. It's a big facility with lot of equipment and doesn't get crowded even during peak times. I got a good deal for a single club location considering the amount of group classes and other options like racquetball, basketball and indoor swimming pool available. Locker rooms and showers need be maintained a little better and cleaner.
Nice location clean branch good equipment and maybe nice to upgrade to more modern and variety cardio machines.
a lot of theft happening at this gym. I joined April 4th and since then there has now been 5 thefts here. Mine was on august 8th. they broke the locker not the lock. luckily it was only my bag and not my wallet, phone, or keys. management (Matt) took a statement and said they would look at the video cameras the next day. the next day I was referred to another manager ( Natalie) who said she would look thru the video and let me know what they found. I was told by natalie I was not able to see the video as it is against la fitness policy. and when I stated you aren't going to do anything are you? she just stared at me, took my number and walked away. I was contacted by the district manager after I contacted la fitness corporate. he left a vm with the wrong contact number and when I tried to call the number on my caller ID that number would not go thru. now I have to carry my bag around to work out. go to the hot tub, or shower. and I'm not the only who does that. the only people who seemed like they cared were the trainers. I'm just waiting to pay off my training sessions and I will be finding another gym

The sound system in the spin studio has been breaking and being patched together over a year now. Now it's just plain broken ... and management is vague on when it will be actually fixed! Never mind that the spin bikes themselves are old and breaking down -- no displays, so you have no idea how fast your going, the resistance level, etc. A little like showing up to a swim class to discover that the pool has no water...

It was a nice gym with a good machine area, I was a little disappointed with their free weights. The free weights we're in a small back corner and seam old. That being said had a great work out and will go back

I like it, but the trainers aren't all easy to talk to. There are 2 that I've encountered that are awesome and helpful even if you aren't signed up for training. The equipment is good. I haven't tried the classes. The water aerobics class i want to go to keeps getting cancelled.
Sign up online.. don't trust the rates with the individual folks. They are like a car salesman. It does have a good set of equipments.
I went here for 5? years, and overall it's a great value for the money. If you're looking for premium quality such as towels and free lockers go to lifetime but for half the price it is worth it to buy your own lock for your locker.
Lots of people using their imagination pretending to run or walk places. Also various large gentelmen picking items up and placing them back down. 11/10
Kinda run down and customer service isn't the best. Lots of sales people who tell you what you want to hear and then the fine print hits. Locker rooms are disgusting.
Worst gym in Minnesota! I had to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get the company to cancel my membership.
This gym is especially dirty, none of the members clean the machines after using them. I rarely saw any staff cleaning and when I did the rags they were using would turn black the instant they started cleaning a machine, so dirty. Its a miracle no one has gotten a communicable disease form this gym yet. I was accosted by a employee looking for someone that "looked like me" who had assaulted someone in the locker room! What is going on at this gym, scary.
Gym is ok. You pay a third of the price to deal with three times as many people as Lifetime Fitness. Which would be a square but what ruins it for me is the parking situation. Too many times I haven't been able to park because there are no spots
Good space with everything I would need to work out. The pool, whirlpool spa, and sauna are a bonus! Classes are included in membership and are offered at a variety of times throughout the week and days. Personal training is a bit steep for prices, wish it was more discounted since you're already paying for membership. But the trainers seem knowledgeable and personable.

The parking lot can be slippery with ice and snow, and the actual entrance is around the other side of the atrium forcing you to walk in the bracing cold and wet weather. The doors are hard to open as well.

Love this gym! Staff are helpful & friendly! It gets very busy between 4-6 but still manageable. I work with a trainer and he is so helpful, I really look forward to working out! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the facility is humid!!! They really need ceiling fans & keep the temperature down!
Really got frustrated with the service. I wanted to cancel the membership and was seeking for an option to cancel it online and they said it's not possible through online and asked me to come directly. When I went there I got a reply that they cannot do it since manager was not there. I particularly asked them if can I go to nearby branch (Since I had moved from Edina to Hopkins I wanted to go to nearby branch and get it cancelled )and cancel it and their answer was absolute Yes.
Well now I went to Hopkins Branch to cancel and they are telling to go to Edina. WTH?
Are these procedure varies branch to branch ? C'mon then why you named it same?

Such a great, positive & friendly atmosphere. If you're looking for a trainer, highly recommend seeking out Tony R., worked with him for over a year, great personality and truly cares about your personal fitness success! Love this LA location.
If you can avoid talking to any of the customer service representatives that will try and sign you up, this LA Fitness is pretty decent. I was reluctant to make a public post about this, but I personally had multiple poor experiences at this specific location by male employees. Cancelled my membership and will never step foot in this facility again.

The hot tub is cold. The timer on the hot tub doesn't work. There's Nails sticking out in the sauna. The elliptical machine is broken. And the next time you come in? Do you think the pool light is on? Do you think the machine has been fixed? Probably not because they looked at you like you're stupid and it's not their responsibility. Oh by the way, no one can tell me how to access any of the TVs using a Samsung phone. Only an iPhone apparently will access their TVs in the workout area. Not a one can tell me how to do it. And they don't care. I would go back Lifetime Fitness, but $125 a month is not exactly my idea of a good deal.
