The staff here is really great. My 5 year old daughter has really enjoyed taking martial arts lessons and is improving quickly. They are very respectful with great communication and positivity.
My daughter has been doing karate here since the school opened (actually before that as they started with classes through the after-school program). She is now a black belt and still going. The teachers are dedicated and the prices are reasonable; the classes are very inclusive. Your kids will be challenged here, they will have fun, and they will grow. (There are adult classes also).
Great place for youth karate. Mr. Palleson and the other instructors are wonderful! My boy loves taking classes here and is always excited for class.
My son has been a member of Hive Martial Arts for almost a year and the experience has been excellent. The instructors and support staff are inspiring, engaging, firm, and even entertaining - perfect for keeping young people engaged as they rigorously work their bodies. The lessons incorporate not only physical skills but mental skills and awareness. I highly recommend Hive Martial Arts.
The teachers here are awesome! My son has been doing karate at this studio for a couple years. He loves it here. I drive into Minneapolis from the suburbs just to come here. I will follow them anywhere. This is the best studio ever! I'll never go anywhere else!
The teachers work with the particularities of each child, and recognize their abilities. Confidence encourages them to strive and to progress, this is what happened with my son. The concentration, his fine and gross motor has improved a lot. The love, courtesy and respect is in the air of this school.
Really great staff. Great with kids. Teach life lessons along with self-confidence and self-defense. Very diverse cliental. I'm told that the brand name "Hive" was chosen because of the owner's commitment to community and lifting each other up. I'm on board with that mission.

My daughter has been a student at MN Karate for just over a year. We made the choice to enroll her in classes after preschool because of impulse control and focus issues and this place came highly recommended. It is one of the best decisions I have made for my daughter. Her impulse and body control has improved, as well as her focus --- so much so that she had absolutely no issues during her kindergarten year aside from being just quirky. Sometimes, I just have to remember that she is still only a soon-to-be first grader. I can definitely tell when she has had a vacation from attending classes as her focus and impulse control becomes very low.
I very much appreciate that the instructors at MN Karate not only teach martial arts but also the reasoning behind it and the character and values that one should have. They have also spoke about anti-bullying and self-defense due to some things that had occurred at schools in the area. The instructors are beyond competent, extremely trustworthy, and passionate about their jobs. Genuinely great people - staff, parents, and students.
I have personally also started taking classes and have been impressed. It certainly puts things in perspective and helps me understand what my daughter has difficulty doing. And it is a great workout!

The teaching is always age appropriate and above all else, fun fun fun! I'm familiar with the classes for the 3-5 year olds and the kiddos are always so energized and pumped after each class. The positive and supportive vibe of all the instructors is really evident in how much the kids love attending and how great they feel after a class. They all have endless patience and treat the children with respect and compassion while appropriately demanding respect and good listening/focus at all times. The karate skills taught are just the tip of the iceberg as so many great life long fitness and self-defense techniques have been a part of the instruction. It's a great group of teachers, students and parents -- no complaints from this parent! It's been a great experience all around!
