Dirty, old equipment, pathetic locker rooms. Basic maintenance fails to happen. New manager has decided floor mats on the locker room have to go, but has the floor ever seen a mop.
Would say zero stars but that is not an option. I also cannot get in at 7pm since I am not a resident nor employee of one of the shops inside the building. This is not 24 hour access for 99% of Snap members. Luckily the Snap at Thrivent Financial does allow you 24 hour access in Downtown Mpls. Your Snap ID scans you into the tower lobby 24/7. GO TO THE SNAP AT THRIVENT!!!
This gym has what you need. It's not ostentatious or posh, and meatheads don't go there to flaunt their stuff, but it gets the job done. I'm reluctant to write this review, actually, because space there is somewhat limited and I don't want the whole world checking this little gem out.

Congested: First thing that comes to my mind. Old machines and very few machines

Emailed to inquire about 24 hour access off hours, no response after 4 days. Tried the access from three doors street level - all locked and card wouldn't work. One unisex bathroom for the whole (larger) gym. Men's shower changing room really non-private and door to room stays open to hallway (3 showers right by door to hallway and also the exit to skyway hallway). Not cool...

As a member of this location for 8 + years as it was convenient to work and home. It's a basic and very small gym (no-frills or classes) that fit my needs as long as the equipment was in working order (be prepared to wait awhile for repair or replacement). They advertise that they are open for 24 hours however the skyways are not accessible between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am.
The gym is rarely staffed and they've had a lot of employee turn over so plan to make an appointment if you ever need to talk to anyone. I cancelled my membership as a result of the way they treated me after mishandling a policy.
This past spring I received communication advising that members are now responsible for annual gym assessment to purchase new equipment. I contacted the franchise owners to ask about it and advised that I had not received previous communication until the week prior and this was not in my contract. The franchise owner advised that the communication was poorly handled from corporate however, I would still be responsible for paying for the equipment assessment, and this is now part of the new contracts (again not in my 8 year old contract nor did they ask me to sign a new contract).
The assessment was nominal however I decided to cancel my membership. My decision was based on principle and how I was treated. The franchise owner was extremely rude and advised that I would need to give a 30 day notice because I was already into the month and would have to pay the annual assessment. (Even when I won't be there to use the new gym equipment). After repeated communication and getting no where but more frustrated I let it go. They did extract the assessment from my credit card however I worked with my credit card company by advising I did not authorize the payment and they were able to retrieve it.
Long story short, this franchise is more concerned about short term $ than any member well-being or providing acceptable customer service. The Snap corporate office was contacted as well however...radio silence. It makes me wonder how this business model will work for them.
I think is it a good gym, the only complaint is the access on weekends we should be granted the entry in the building to the gym. Maybe the owners can do something about it. But either way if you go through the hotel Minneapolis or the Churchill building you get there on weekends but there are limitations on the skyway hours. The other option is the other location at the thrivent financial building there you can go anytime. So this is the good thing about snap fitness it is for real a 24/7 gym and many locations.
Clean and well maintained. Has free weights and cardio equipment but no bench press.
Not 24/7 cuz that part of the skyway is inaccessible a lot of the time unless you live in the building, so please stop advertising as 24/7. I hope yall go out of business.
The new owners have done a great job cleaning up the gym and fixing everything. They have been friendly, great customer service and the atmosphere is awesome. Way to go!
