AWFUL costumer service. And I do not say this lightly. I have had several interactions, with just UNPLEASANT, miserable looking people at the front desk. Just quit if you hate your job! And the passive aggressiveness just doesn't jive with an east coaster, so that makes it even more frustrating. CHANGE the front desk staff.
I try to avoid their loser faces, some days more successful than others.

Aggressively mediocre. Staff seemed very bored but did do their job. Facility was clean but know space for heavy lifts. If you're new to fitness this place will work fine but if you're looking to try heavy weights and serious lifts you may want to check out other gyms in the area.

This gym has all your basic equipment, adequately clean locker rooms, but some hidden fees. I usually feel safe, but once a creep wandered in from mall, and tried to hit on me while I worked out. The cafe is more often closed than open, and I stopped getting smoothies after I saw the cook lick a blender lid. Gross!

Nice clean gym. Some equipment needs service just like any regular gym it would be good to get upgraded cardio equipment.

I love LA Fitness, and have been a member for 5 years. Some equipment still needs improving, and I wish the busy times were a little more consistent. Sometimes it's crowded at the most random times.

When you walk in from outside it smells as if you didnt shower or use deodorant for a year.
Then you head to the small free weight area, which is full of guys playing on their phones for the perfect Instagram pic in between half repping sets. Then mean mugging everyone.

This gym.offer a convenient location also , they offer 2 hours free parking which is a plus for the membership price.
The LA business practices are ridiculous for my taste so as long as you don't get extra services and deal with the staff you have a good deal

Claxton is a liar. He works as the sales person in this branch. He lied to me for more than half an hour about the membership details. I told him I dont want to sign contract for 12 months so he lied. I am glad I read the reviews before I went to sign up so I was cautious and observant before handing over my CC. I literally checked his screen and found out he was lying overall.
BEWARE OF Claxton and liars like him.

Awful customer service. Very demeaning and seemingly annoyed with questions I feel anyone would ask.

Love the location of the uptown gym. There's a nice view of the city from the side of the building. The downside is the gym is pretty small, so when it gets busy it feels crowded. Also, no pool or hottub here.

The general manager is a complete loser. He sometimes walks around the gym harassing people, reminding them that it is okay because he is the general manager.

The entire place smells awful, which you will notice as soon as you walk in. It is lucky that human noses "shut off" after smelling something bad for a certain period of time, because working out with that stench would be impossible otherwise.

They are salespeople first and a gym second. What I mean by this is that they care more about selling memberships than making those memberships worthwhile. They are very pushy about their $45, 30 minute training sessions (which are more expensive than a month of working out there). They probably do not care about having a high turnover rate, because they still get to absorb people's $100 initiation fees in the meantime.

*Update: Claxton, the pushy jerk that sold me my membership, left out the fact that if I had waited one more month to sign on my $100 initiation fee would have been free (summer special). He could have easily told me this ahead of time. Employees that get paid on commission are bad employees.*

Quality gym, has what you need, weights are most always available, sweet sauna, showers, lots of cute babes to check ou

It can be pretty busy right after work, but other than that did it to be pretty good. Full complement of equipment and right here in the neighborhood. Validated parking in the garage. All for a very fair price

So I am in the process of moving to the area and looking at a few different gyms, and wanted to take a look at this gym. The manager, Dan, showed me around the gym, and then after, for almost half an hour, tried to sell me on getting a membership. I told him I did not want to purchase or sign or even get a guest membership since I'm still moving and settling in, and he got meaner, more condescending, more forceful, and tried selling harder and harder despite my trying to leave. The sad thing is, I actually did like the gym as it is large and has a lot of nice equipment, but was still planning on looking at another gym or two, but being pressured and talked down to and feeling like I could not leave really turned me off and as a result would not go back, as that kind of rudeness is poor customer service.

The facility itself is fine. I mostly downgraded it because I purchased a plan that included a trainer and they are the worst there. Once guy I had complained that he had to work at that location when I first met him and he didn't exactly inspire any motivation for working out or provide any guidance and instruction for when I wasn't working out with him. Plus it is only 25 minutes. They have to leave half way through training to go to the next person. Don't do the training there. Not worth your money.

March 27, 2018 14:31

Called in because my bill was wrong, the person I spoke to was the rudest person I have ever talked to on the phone, I asked for his name and he replied "John Smith" as to not give me his real name. Did not care that I was going to give them a bad review.

The people front desk are very nice and friendly. The place is clean and parking also is good.

is there a zero stars option? this place is disgusting. even though it's cheap, it's not worth it. it's dirty and SMELLS LIKE MOLD all the time. the staff is beyond lame. nobody cares about this location and why should they? if you don't join, another money conscious person will. the locker room is always WET and smells. people leave clothes in lockers without locks (what's the point?) it feels like you will catch the latest SARS VIRUS HERE. I like This gym. The only thing is that the equipment is so outdated. This is one of the oldest la fitness's here in Minnesota. I really wish they would bring in new equipment.

It is fine, I suppose. Free parking is a mile away & the pay parking ramp is expensive. There is no pool. Classy neighborhood. Pretty neat locker rooms with saunas. Came to this gym on an evening outing a couple of times but did not return as it is in an inconvenient location for me - far from work & far from home. Evil thing to do but the gym membership has since been cancelled as a luxury health club doesn't fit in the long-term budget

Staff is horrible. They pretty much just want to make sales and don't care at all about customer service. I've worked in customer service for 6+ years, so usually I try to cut people some slack. But every employee I've had an encounter with has been rude, unfriendly, and even lied about membership perks. They told me I had 2 weeks of guest passes for signing up, I brought my brother in and they wouldn't even let him try the gym out.

October 24, 2017 16:02

Beware this organization! They will apply a ton of sales pressure to get you to sign up and pay a large up front fee. I called to cancel my membership and after assuring me it was cancelled, they continued to bill monthly. Their fine print requires mailing in a form, which means the account manager lied about cancellation. There are so many great ways to get a workout in the Twin Cities - outside around the lakes, inside at the YMCA or Orange Theory - don't go here. Shame on you and your shady business practices LAF!
