The coaching here is extraordinary. And if you think competitive cheer is just for girls, drop in and check the tumbling, base and flyer skills of some of these boys! I wish you could hear my son on the way home from practice each night. It has been so long since we've seen his confidence and enthusiasm for sport. And it isn't just one thing that is bringing him back to life. It's the small things: kids excited to see him enter the gym, how the coaches call him Bud when things are relaxed and by his name when it's time to go to work, that everyone is so nice, that people noticed his new shoes, that he feels heard, and I could go on forever. It is vastly different from where he came. He is smiling when he goes to practice, smiling in practice (as evidenced by the sass he was showing on insta) and smiling when he goes home. What an answer to prayer for us. Thank you, Michigan Cheer Co., for supporting our family. You have our support 10000%!
This gym is the perfect balance of work hard and play hard. The owners are nothing but professionals, who also make you feel like family the second you walk in the door. They care about safety, technique, and getting results. Yes, they expect equal effort from the athletes but there is no easy way to get better at something then practicing, and practicing it the CORRECT way. The owner, Laura Chapman, is a gifted, creative, and sought after choreographer. I appreciate the work everyone at the gym does to create an environment that is rigorous for the serious athletes, and still welcoming for the athletes of all ability levels.
Cheer Co of Michigan is the best! I had 2 five year old girls join this past fall for the half year team and they had a blast! The coaches were so sweet and taught my girls a lot about teamwork, stunting, tumbling and flexibility. The owners Josh and Laura Chapman always demonstrated kindness, professionalism and fairness to all their athletes. They go above and beyond to make everyone feel like family! I am so grateful for the whole Cheer Co staff they made my girls first cheer experience amazing!
My daughter really wanted to join an All-Star Gym, so we visited this past spring when they were holding tryouts. I was handed a several page packet labeled "registration agreement" to fill out and turn in. Because I am the wife of an attorney, I make it a habit to never sign any kind of paperwork that looks binding or like it is written in contract form without having my husband review it first. After reviewing the "paperwork" that they had pushed us to sign while at the gym, my husband was very concerned. 1. It is, in fact, written with the intention of being a binding contract. 2. The family is required to pay the tuition and all fees (which are very high) for the entire season in their entirety if they choose to leave the gym, which I understand, but there is no clause for extenuating circumstances (long term illness of child, job loss of parent, relocation of family out of area etc.) 3. In addition, there were several fees in the contract that were very general and not specified if a child does leave that the establishment would tack on. I for one would like to know exactly what they are used for and why they are necessary. 4. The thing that gave my husband the most concern, however, was the clause stating that we were to make no negative comments about the establishment on social media for one full year after leaving as a customer. Along with the above stated issues, he saw this as a HUGE red flag and something that any business that provided good customer service would never need to add to an expectation let alone a contract. Make no mistake, this is a contract as written. We chose not to join this gym because of these concerning issues with their contract and chose another gym instead. I only decided to write this review because I wanted to make sure others were aware before they signed the paperwork- please have an attorney review it before hand.

Started out great and ended poorly.
Work hard win some titles but instead of lifting up to get them to excel more then not swear and tear down. Pretty sad.
Wish I could post a zero. I am trying to post photos off all of the correspondence but having and issue. Feel free to find me on FB messenger if you have further questions. I would be happy to show you EVERYTHING! While we met some amazing parents/kids the emotional backlash when you choose to leave is awful. My daugher won a D2Summit Ring that was GIFTED by Varsity her second year and the gym refused to give it to our daughter. They will say it is because we owed but I did try to settle up and meet. Can show you emails and fb posts. When my husband emailed again asking we got an email refusing saying they hired an attorney and will not be distributing your items. We were not the only ones either!. We got a letter from the attorney March 8th saying that there are defamatory and slanderous reviews out there and they "THINK" it may be us. The attorney when I called had no idea yet of the details or even seen these posts but sent out the letters anyway to 5 parents who were the "high probabilty" ones. Why because CHECK OUT THEIR CONTRACT which states you can say nothing bad (reviews even if they are true) about them for one year. Sorry whoever posted it was their first ammendment right! So they were hoping we were one of the people since it had not been a year. Pretty sick you are trying to stop those people from sharing their honest opinion. Once in court last Friday the magistrate was APPALLED that they were holding onto our daughter's property and DEMANDED that she release our daughter's ring. The magistrate saw right through her after listening to parent's /athlete testimony of emotional abuse. So the magistrate told her to MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ROLL THAT RING IN POISON IVY, GET IT DIRTY AND I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT WHAT ANYTHING A BOY WOULD DO IT AND MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DO IT! THAT RING BETTER BE IN PRISTINE CONDITION. Reminded her how disappointed she was in them because this is a CHILD!!! THEN she tried to collect a $500 liquidation fee from us?????? We did not quit just left at the end of the season. My daughter did triple team and have one of the highest skills in the gym so i get it ....It hurt to lose her but SERIOUSLY?! All we did is choose to not come back. SO BEWARE in my opinion the Owners will try and cheat you out of what is yours in a HEARTBEAT!
Well then there is if your kid makes a mistake on the mat at a competition and she will scream and point your child out and tell the team you can blame her/him they lost first place for you. Hope you do not mind profanity because it is FREQUENTLY used when angry at the kids.
Or how about make your kid take off their knee brace before going onstage?? Telling me it is only 2 minutes. :O Or how about you try and post that your child has mono on the gym/team page or that your kid has whooping cough AND THEY TAKE IT DOWN "don't want to freak parents out" The list goes on and on.
Oh like make sure your kid is well hydrated. During the camp in August weather was scorching and they did not receive water breaks. My husband had to go in and talk to one of the coaches who insured my husband they will be getting water breaks.
I attended an open gym with my daughter who was wanting to join an all star cheer team. We were with a neighbor who was a current athlete at the gym at the time. The coach couldn't be bothered to answer my questions as her twins were occupying all of her time. She shoved some paperwork at me and disappeared. I chatted with the mother of the athlete who had invited us and asked if she could help with my questions. I wanted to know which of the Full, Limited or Recreational options the coach recommended for an athlete of my daughter age and experience. The current athletes mom had me go into the gym with her to try and get my questions answered. The twin girls were running around where athletes were trying to stumble and stunt and the coach was in the corner on her phone. I left to run an errand and returned 20 minutes later to find the gym empty and to discover my daughter and the other athletes walking barefoot through the parking lot and grass looking for a turtle that had escaped. We left pretty quickly after that. I asked my daughter if the coach had worked with her at all and she said that she had not, but she had stunted with some of the other athletes. I felt that the entire situation was unorganized and honestly completely unsafe! I attended an open gym at a neighboring facility the next day and had a completely different experience. The coach was more than happy to answer my questions and spent significant time with my daughter to evaluate her skills and made recommendations off of that. I'm so glad a parent at CCM told me about the neighboring facility as I was leaving.

This is our second season with CCM. We began, actually, when I found a Groupon for a tumbling class and after that my daughter said, "Let's stay mom, I think this can be my team." She's learned a great deal about teamwork, consistency, practice, and even picking up after herself! Her skill are improving every day that she's there. I'm thankful for this place and the learning that she does here!
Great experience at CCM. The coaches are tough. They expect good work ethic and dedication. That is why the teams are competitive. There is a healthy mix of team-bonding, fun and hard work. The owners and staff are knowledgeable, informative and good communicators. The families are friendly and welcoming.
This is my daughter's third year in this gym, we would not change a thing. She has learned hard work and discipline really does pay off. When you get to the full travel competitive teams, it is competitive. The coaches are going to push you to your limits. That's their job, to make you push yourself to be your best. Yes, you may get frustrated , hard work is frustrating . Yes, they're hard on you when you make a mistake and again that's their job, you probably won't make that mistake again.
The things your child will take from this experience is hard work, commitment, discipline he/she will take with them for the rest of their lives. Oh yeah, did I mention the great group of friends you will make. Bonding over something you love will make friendships that last a lifetime. Cheer Company of Michigan was the best decision we made.
We are so happy with my son's all-star cheer gym! He has increased his skill set 10-fold in both tumbling and stunting! He has been given training and opportunities to do what he has always wanted to do.....FLY!
He has learned how to become a better teammate, a leader, a great brother!
We are so happy to be a part of the Cheer Co family!
My daughter has been a part of Cheer Company of Michigan since May. She walked in with zero confidence as an athlete and a flyer. Within 10 minutes they had my daughter feeling safe and confident to do stunts she's never done before. In the amount of time since we've called this gym home, i have seen my daughter transform into an amazing athlete and team player. The coaches are personal, loving, and knowledgeable. They work one on one if needed, and always ALWAYS have the athletes in mind. I have never been more proud to walk into a set of doors than I am to walk into Cheer Co. My daughter loves every second spent here and i look forward to many many years with this gym.
Hardworking, dedicated athletes trained by professional, knowledgeable coaches. In the 3 yrs the gym has been open they've won numerous national titles as well as Summit & US Finals.
Very professional staff, safety and skill progression is their number one concern. Great pricing, from recreation programs, to classes or travel trams.
