My favorite thing, hands down, about this gym is the parking! Not only is it hard to find a spot, when you do... better be driving a tiny/small eco car otherwise someone will hit your car and not care to leave a note or slam their car door into the side of your door when exiting/entering their vehicle. so basically walk there if you can, otherwise consider your vehicle trashed when going here.

So worth it! There are activities for the whole family and their child care is solid

Good luck trying to cancel your membership or getting a call back from someone who supposedly may be able to help.

They need to rework there membership, so that's it's more fitting for different types of individuals. Far more affordable opportunities other than this that are cheaper and have 24/7 .

My wife and I have been members for about a month. So far has been good except for just this morning on a Saturday. I volunteer at the hospital on Saturday morning so I came in for a swim and set in the hot tub. Little did I know after I got my swimsuit on took a shower walked to the pool and there was a class going on. Nothing up in the locker room saying that through was a class in the pool loud music couldn't relax told my one lifeguard that it would be okay to go in the pool but they do do laps around it for the class. Told by another lifeguard 10 minutes later that you would have to probably go swim in the lazy river which is on the other side of the pool because they have class right now. But they do go round the entire pool. They were not rude to me but I feel their Shelby should be a different way to let people know there's a class going on before they get there soon and wanted to take a nice relaxing swim. There should be another way to let guest know when classes are like put a big sign up right before you go into the locker room. I was in the pool area for maybe 10 minutes just a waste of my time. You should have classes before or after pool hours or change your flowers or do something to let people know. I have arthritis in my legs and back and it helps to relax in a fool. Lake I said both times I'm happy here but this morning was a very bad experience just think that you should be considerate to all your guest's.. please excuse my misspelling I used voice to text is faster for me.

I've been a member at the YMCA for over a year. While the facility was alright, and had a lot of options for equipment & activities, I always felt the price was a little steep (especially considering the relatively poor hours.. closes at 7 on Saturday, 6 on Sunday). It was also pretty dirty considering what the monthly rates are.. you would expect a very clean, well maintained facility for the price.

Today was the last straw as I just received a membership price increase in the mail because I turned 27. The rate went to $70/month just like that. I called to ask about cancellation, and was told if I cancelled now I would still be charged $70 for the next month as "cancellation goes into effect in 30 days".

The main problem I have here is that I responded to their letter the same day I received it. I had no notice to cancel the membership before the price hike.. and now have been basically cornered into paying the increased rate whether I like it or not.

On top of this, when I called their facility to explain the situation I was told by a front desk associate that "I can try contacting the membership director, but she doesn't respond to phone calls quickly at all"... great. I'm really at my wit's end with this place. They treat their members like second-class citizens. For your own sanity, I have no choice but to recommend not becoming a member here.

If you have kids you will love the kids zone

I have been going there for about 2 months now, I like the variety they have to offer such as childcare, equipment, classes, ect. but the place is not clean at all. The floors are so dusty by the machines, and have noticed that only a select few staff members are customer friendly and there is only ONE life guard that is also very friendly. The others are not nice at all, and have been very rude to myself as well as my children. For how much I pay, I would expect the staff to be more professional.

Would give 5 stars but locker room is dirty its like they never clean the hot tubs or showers and allow people to go in there without any shorts on nobody wanna be in a hot tube with a nude man thats nastsy so they should control that alot more and people walking around with no towel or shorts on only time a man should be naked is in the shower or outside locker to change nobody should be able to walk around like that should have to wear a towel and if towel to small bring your own or shorts also need better basketball and trash the ones they have

The facility is very nice and everything is pretty clean...Everything except the hottub, avoid that creature.

Several of the showers are absolutely nasty with thick layers of scum (see picture), lots of hair, and broken fixtures. Soap dispensers are constantly empty. No towels available inside the locker room, and the towels are frequently stained with mysterious bodily fluids. The hot tub is always filled with scum and hair. Lockers are all rusty and often don't latch shut. Members constantly drive the wrong way down parking lot aisles because the paint they use for the arrows wears off after a month. There is a sharp piece of rusty metal sticking out of the ground in the parking lot from a broken railing (see picture), which is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Floors in the workout area often have balls of dust floating around. Generally a very poorly maintained Y location. Some of this could be forgiven if this was a $20/mo club, but at $70/mo they really need to step up their game and hire staff that even remotely care about the state of the facilities. The David D. Hunting location needs to look to the newer Mary Free Bed location where staff at least actively clean during the day. I left more that one star because the desk staff are friendly and there is a decent amount of good equipment.

Very convenient to the Downtown Community! The staff is always friendly and parking is FREE and easy to find, which is a huge plus for downtown. I try to only go late morning or early afternoon to avoid the rush. Over all great gym for my needs and I like that I can go to any YMCA with my membership!

4.5. Great staff, facilities, and classes/programs. Often very crowded and tight parking spots. Special shout out to the staff who always lower the basketball hoop at my 5yr old's request. They have an app for up-to-date facility schedules and info.
