If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Several months ago, I did P-90X. One of the segments was called Yoga X. Until then, I assumed yoga was a bunch of hooey exclusively for the Birkenstock set. After Yoga X kicked my rear -- I began to think differently. I now knew I liked yoga and that it could help me meet many of my fitness goals while providing a way to relieve stress. It also seemed to be a practice I could sustain through injury and into my later years.

I poked around online for an Ann Arbor-area studio and found Detroit Yoga. When I started, I was seriously inflexible, overweight and out of shape. Several months hence, I am more flexible, stronger and in better shape.

Jason, the teacher at DY, starts you off at whatever level you are and slowly builds from there. In particular, he teaches Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga. I mostly do Ashtanga. It feels a little like you're a hunk of clay and the practice gradually sculpts out your new form. It takes time, but you do see results. So, if you're looking for a low-key, unpretentious place to get your yoga on in Ann Arbor, check out Detroit Yoga.
