Boston Sports Club and the associated clubs managed by TSI International have created cancellation policies to inconvenience their customer. The fact of the matter if you join this club or any affiliated clubs, they are going to use every sleazy sales trick in the book to obstruct that process. Here is a snippet of what they post regarding their cancellation policy:"Members may initiate the cancellation in person at any club location or by sending a cancellation request by Certified Mail to the club or the Member Services department."

To be clear, if you try, cancelling via email or telephone this will not be accepted. What about canceling online? That feature does not exist. TSI, I would challenge you to explain why in the modern day of communication email is not a viable form of a members intent on leaving? Moreover, why have you not enabled this feature on your website?

The only thing that makes this inconvenience worst, is the arrogant GM who manage the process. I was a former customer for 8 years and the tone deafness of this GM is inexcusable, particularly because I personal have never had an issue with paying my account.

For future gym goers I say this, what you may save in cost relative to other gyms in the area, is not worth the headache incurred for trying to leave. Truly one of the worst customer experiences I have had in my life thanks to Newbury St. GM.

The sad thing is you don't really have to look too far to validate my experience, just take a look at the other reviews on the forum.

Do not join if you wanted to be disrespected, talked down to and lied to. Every person that works here has a different story, including other branches that are actually very kind and try to reach out to corporate, who never contacts you. Joel specifically expressed to me that I need to take ownership in my choices and not be upset "it's just money." Will never join another sports club due to the disrespect and lack of empathy I received.

BEWARE of predatory practices and 0 regard for customer service. After calling and being told my account was cancelled, I was charged 3 more times in the span of two months, then told my account was not cancelled and that i would continue to get charged. I have tried to quit multiple times over the phone and email because I moved out of the state. Every time I called I was told i needed to talk to Joel, the manager, but he was currently business or at a meeting. Joel never called me back and after emailing him with details on my extremely frustrating experience , he replied with a single sentence telling me he tried to cancel my account but my payment declined, meaning that after wrongly charging me and hearing about my horrible experience, this manager wanted to charge me again just to cancel. He never acknowledged any wrongdoing on BSC's part and never apologized or anything. I cancelled my credit card to stop this company from continuing to wrongly charge me. Joel has shown that BSC does not care at all about the way it treats its customers at all. I considered joining the BSC sister gym in the new state i moved to, but this experience has made me want nothing to do with this horrible company. Do not join unless you do not care about customer service or plan to join perpetually.

After being told that they have a sream room at a preferred location by my home,and starting membership online..yeah NEVER start a membership without checking out the facility first. Well I get there and NO steam room, was told to walk or drive to the nearest location that had steam room. My daughter was with me and had a free 3 day pass she wanted to utilize before signing up herself. Well the guy at first didnt want to honor her 3 day pass, and kept trying to sell her stuff. After that 1 day and 1experience, I kept calling day 2,3,and 4 of joining online. Told sales manager that I was still within my 10 day cancellation period, and I want to cancel because if I have one bad experience I'm only gonna have another bad experience and besides I only go to use amenities. He said ok. No pressure I even quoted him where it says during my 10 days I have a right to cancel with no penalties. Well,guess what I got in the mail a month after that(A bill,from a collection agency,demanding $30+) so not only did one location lie about tge amenities,another location try to sell and even upsell,the sales manager did who knows what that I am now in collections.

A lot of broken equipment, off the top if my head:

- many of the treadmills don't work right, speed is wrong
-TVs on treadmills are often full of static
-weight machines have the labels ripped off so you can't tell what you're lifting,
-some of the locker doors fall off the hinges when you open them,
-the foot straps on the rowing machine are often broken
-there was a 2 week period over the winter where they had no hot water for the showers,
- the sauna in the men's locker room is broken and it doesn't look like there is any plan to fix it.

Last straw for me was signing up for a free personal training session and the trainer didn't show up, and then offered to reschedule for the next week and then never got back to me.

When I cancelled my membership they charged me for another month for not giving them 30 days notice. I know it's their "policy" but it's hard to not see that as a way to stick it to people who cancel their membership.

I'm here in town for the summer, this gym is THE PLACE to go! Got a lot of nice equipments, the staff here is really nice. This is a very neighborhood friendly gym to go, they also offer classes, so don't miss anything! Get toned, starting from this place of workout!

It's impossible to contact corporate. They do not reply. I tried cancelling before next billing cycle so I wouldn't get charged any further since i paid $10 extra for month to month membership. They charged me anyway for 2 more months that I wasnt going. Tried to dispute the charge, but eveidently within the contract of the "month to month" membership they have language that basically negates anything month to month about it. Unethical business practices, misleading consumer, and make it impossible to leave is their main goal.

The equipment is a little outdated and it is smaller than your average gym, but the atmosphere is always great and the staff are always welcoming and helpful!

I told them the 87(or 84 I don't remember exactly) locker in men's locker room's handle seems very dangerous because that's handle was broken and a part of it was very sharp so I almost hurt my finger one day so I told them to fix it even twice but they are not still fixing it. I understand they are busy but I think the safety is the first one that you have to care about.

Great location, but this BSC is on the smaller side and it closes at 18:00 on the weekend.
