Hands down my favorite yoga studio in Frederick! There's an amazing variety of classes and the free coffee & tea in the community room is pretty great
My favorite yoga studio ever. I spent a few months in Frederick during a work assignment and had the good fortune of staying right next to Luna. The owner Cindy and the rest of the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and I felt a sense of love and belonging every time I walked through the door. The space was beautiful, every instructor I had was fantastic, and there was plenty of variety in types of classes, especially for a small studio. The welcoming atmosphere of this studio led me to try different types of yoga I never thought I'd get around to such as Kundalini and Restorative, helping to further my practice as a newer yogi.
In addition to some memorable yoga experiences, Luna was consistently hosting community events, workshops, concerts, and more. Beyond just the yoga, Luna is a wonderful place for fostering love and community in the Frederick area and beyond. I can't recommend Luna Yoga enough!
Such a beautiful studio with the sweetest people! Ali is an amazing teacher. Would highly recommend!
If you're looking for a studio with a lot of options, that feels open and welcoming, and more like a community than just your everyday studio, you should try these guys out.
I love taking prenatal yoga classes here. They are easy on my body and truly help with the growing pains and aches. I highly recommend.

This yoga space is a charmer. Located conveniently downtown and always a welcoming vibe. Every yoga class I've done here has been very professional, the instructors are all top notch, and the counter staff are the greatest. 5/5 would recommend to anyone.

I can only think of positive things to say about this studio. The building is as charming as the staff and the environment is always welcoming. While I haven't taken any of the yoga classes, I have been taking both mat and equipment Pilates classes for about six months at the studio. The primary instructor I see is Amy Hatzis- VanHaren and I can't say enough positive things about her classes. Her flow and commitment to technique and alignment ensure you will have a challenging and satisfying workout that leaves you feeling taller upon completion. If you are coming to the studio for yoga I highly recommend you check out the Pilates classes as well, you won't be disappointed.
I've been going to Ananda Shala for about 2 and a half years now. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It really feels like a sanctuary. I know when I go there that no matter what teacher I have, I will leave the place feeling rejuvenated and grounded again.
COME AS YOU ARE!! Ananda Shala has the most amazing energy and the friendliest people in a non judgmental practice with teachers who really take their time time and care. I look forward to exercise, wow I never thought I'd say that!! Awesome place..check it out they have two weeks unlimited classes for $30 bucks, find your bliss today!
This is the best thing that has happened to the yoga community in Frederick--and indeed, in all of Maryland--in 2008! Ananda Shala is a physically beautiful space, with soaring ceilings, a hot retail selection, and a staff trained in Pilates, Prana Flow, and other creative styles of movement. I highly recommend stopping by for a class, especially with Maria Garre, who has incredible energy and something new to offer every time you come to your mat!
Yoga, to me, is much more than just an athletic endeavor and appreciate the dedication to whole body and spirtual wellness at Anada Shala. I agree with other reviewers that some instructors are less "instructive" than desired. My favorite instructor is Ashley. She explains each posture and offers variations to each posture quite clearly. I also appreciate the small touches Ashley adds like massage work to loosen or lengthen my muscles during certain postures. I equally enjoy the detailed instruction of Kristen.
My only constructive critisms would be the small rooms that are over booked and get cramped enough as to inhibit your ability to fully stretch out arms and legs during postures. They also have limited front desk coverage and would recommend hiring a full time coordinator to answer calls and greet clients/guests during business hours.
