GO TEAM SCAMMA! They made us prepay for the last month of classes when we signed up. They they promised that the time we were on vacation would be added free at the end of our contract as well. Now it appears that they closed down (the business states it is permanently closed), with literally zero communication (no emails from them, no response to emails and calls). Not sure what to say other than I think they let their customers down. Service was excellent, kids who worked as trainers were amazing. marketing was shady. Given how it ended, I am not sure I can provide a decent review though.

So difficult to schedule/reach anyone at this location. After 2 weeks (and countless calls/email/text) they finally reached out to schedule a class for my son. On the confirmed day of the class, there was a note on their door simply stating it was closed. No email or text for cancellation. We rushed all the way there for nothing. Such a disappointing and frustrating experience! We will not even try again.

Gamma Academy Martial Arts is a great place for families and aspiring martial artists to build lasting memories. The curriculum is perfect for any background or preference. You can be yourself at Gamma and it is encouraged. Building my skills at Gamma was an incredibly important experience for me and I have seen plenty of other people find incredible joy in the community that has been built around this institution of merit and respect.

Former employee, this is a great place to send your kids, they honestly do an excellent job with them. However, I wouldn't apply for a job here, the management is terrible, nonchalant and shady.(does not apply to Mr.Ron).

When I was 11 and under, I was this weak kid. Couldn't defend himself. Couldn't stand up for himself. But then, I came to Gamma Martial Arts. Lemme tell you guys something. THIS PLACE IS BEYOND AMAZING!! This place helped me get in shape, defend myself, have no mercy etc. The staff is full of incredible and down to earth people. Master Giscombe, one of the nicest people I've met in my life. Best martial arts teacher in town. Mrs. Morrow is hilarious, also one of the nicest people I've met in my life, and so forth. Point is, they are both great teachers. All the people who work there are so pleasant and upbeat. They are so splendid to work with. This place is great for all ages. Kids, Teenagers, Adults etc. I still go there. This place is waay different from any other dojo. In a good way. It's a place where people can come and feel like they belong. I've watched firsthand as the staff there helped me and others get stronger, this place helps you gain confidence, learn how to help you stand up and defend yourself. This place has made a huge impact on my life, and probably others. I highly recommend this place if you would like to do martial arts or jujitsu. Such a great place that helps you find your inner spirit within (as cliche as it sounds) but it's true, helps you defend yourself, this place makes you feel incredibly good about yourself, makes you feel like your right at home, if you or anyone you know is getting picked on, or simply just wants to come and learn the ways of combat and martial arts, head on over to Gamma. It will not dissapoint. 1000000000/10.

My 2 boys did camp here in the month of August. Pros: My boys enjoyed going to camp together and meeting new friends. They group all the kids together and they seemed to get along really well, so my 4 year old was directly spending time with my 6 year old.It was a relatively small group and all the kids seemed so mature and well mannered. My boys enjoyed the morning activities which included some free play and then a structured karate activity from 9-11. On Fridays, in the afternoon they go to the Bethesda outdoor pool, and they really enjoyed the pool time. Cons: In general, my boys love being outside, but they don't like going out when it's hot/humid >90 degrees and feeling as if it's > 100 degrees. The first day, on Monday, August 21, the only thing my boys complained to me about was that they were "outside at the very sunny playground for way too long." The weather report on that day which was the day of the eclipse was 90 degrees at noon in Bethesda which was the time they were outside. It felt even hotter due to the humidity. After talking to the instructors, I figured out that they go outside and eat near the playground from 11 am to 1 pm. Now, every time we drive by the playground, my sons scream out, "There's the sunny playground." After that day i decided to check the weather report and if it was too hot, i would pick them up early. Also, the owner said that it was Maryland law that they were not allowed to directly apply any sunscreen to my children. This was very confusing to me and I read online later that as long as a parent gives written permission, then summer camps may apply sunscreen directly to the child. This was NEVER given as an option. Instead, the owner told me he would ensure that my 4 year old son would not get burned, but could not say out loud that he could directly apply the sunscreen????? Lastly, they showed movies on the camp's TV twice in the afternoon during the week which my kids didn't complain about, but I can have them watch a movie at home. I would rather they interact, socialize, play games, sports, arts/crafts in the afternoon than watch TV. They attended all 5 days of camp, but I picked them up early on Tuesday and Thursday. I picked them up early on Tuesday because it was another hot day of 90 degrees and the owner did not decide if they were going to play outside again or go to an indoor rec center. I picked them up early on Thursday because they were watching another movie in the afternoon. I initially gave this camp 4 stars but after reading the owners comments below, I was disappointed to see what he wrote is NOT completely honest. I'm giving it 2 stars because my boys did have two great full days of camp out of the 5 days they attended.

Absolutely amazing. I've spent decades training in the martial arts, and this is the ideal experience. Loads of wonderful families, dedicated students, and a positive vibe make this the place to be. Soul-warmingly good.

My son takes summer camp here each year nad we love it. It was the best summer camp experience we have every had, right from year one, and each year has gotten better and better. My son loves that he learns martial arts in the camp. We are too busy during the year for lessons, and when he takes at least two weeks of camp, he has a chance to earn a rank in martial arts. What I love is the balance of the camp. They have choices between activities and crafts, they do martial arts every day (including special martial arts activities!), he makes the greatest friends, and they do games that support learning. We love it. Go team GAMMA!!

My 3 kids did summer camp here and loved it. They have begged to come back. The staff are fun and friendly and the activities were engaging and motivating. My kids came home nice and tired but happy.

We love Gamma Academy. We tried several other studios, and at Gamma, everything clicked. Great staff, all of whom have a great manner with the students. Classes are fun, a great workout, and excellent martial arts training. My son has come a long way in a short time, both in his skills and his attitude. He is encouraged to act as a mentor to the younger students, and there is a strong emphasis on character development. There are classes every day, so we can fit martial arts into a busy schedule.

The camps in particular are lots of fun, and bring rapid progress in skills. There are many activities in addition to martial arts - hikes, park time, swimming, zoo trips, etc.

Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

Perfect addition to our family's fitness needs!! All members of our family were able to attend classes together - instructors connected with myself and my children!! Thank you for providing a positive environment while challenging us physically.

We have the best students and families! Our energetic instructors love working with our preschoolers, kindergartners, youth, teen, and adult classes in karate, kickboxing, self defense and martial arts. Our practical self defense from Master Giscombe's military background pairs with traditional-style martial arts and instructors who love working with all ages and abilities. It's a great place to be!
