I had signed for a trial class for the mixed sibling class and I had trouble finding the place as it was my first time going to that part of town. I had used Google Maps and it led me to the carpark in American Plant instead. I tried calling My Gym for 10m in the parking lot to ask for directions and NO ONE picked up the phone. This was rush hour too. Frustrated, I had parked my car in American Plant and decided to find my way in the office building next door. I have a 3 year old with me and an 8-month old (weighing 22 lbs!) I kept walking towards the shopping center and it was a long walk with the 2 kids and when I reached the junction, I saw Westwood Shopping Center II. I'm not sure where the first Westwood is. And so when I went it to My Gym, I asked the staff why is it that no one picked up the phone for so long. And the lady (who was also the teacher) said that the office staff mending the phone wasn't here and she acted like it wasn't her responsibility at all. I wasn't happy with that. Someone should be at the phone especially before a new class to deal with situations like this i.e. ask for directions/info etc. Then comes the class. It started out great with circle time for 10m led by Mr Omar. He is a good and loving teacher. But that was all organized activity for the session. The rest was very much 35-40m of free play, which I didn't like. They had equipment and swings set up, but it was way too disorganized. And for the younger ones under 2 years, there was a time of 10m where the younger ones were separated to a corner to just play with musical instruments with an instructor playing with them - no facilitation or structure. If I have to pay for 2 kids for this session, I think it's not worth paying for a kid under 2 years for this particular class for this reason. Lastly, the music was somewhat inappropriate, there were a few dance numbers which were way too loud with the techno beat. I don't mind some pop songs, but for kids these age, a few of the songs were just too techno and loud. It's' not to my liking. I'm not coming back here again. In terms of management wise, i find that it's not a good practice to not have phones picked up during open hours. If the office staff mending the phone is not in the office, shouldn't there be someone who receives calls in their absence? I never had a problem with the other location and their other competitors when I called for info or rescheduling. And of course, I had to carry my 22 pounder on a long walk along the main road back to my car with my toddler today.
