I haven't had a job - since June/2019. My most recent membership was earned through Family Health Center's "Living Well Program". I was able to pay for a membership - for my birth month, & worried I wouldn't be able to continue. The person who set-up my account, is familiar with my situation, & helped me gain membership I can PAY for. Best birthday, ever! Thank you.
Great YMCA. I love coming here in-between or after my classes at JCTC. The staff is super friendly and they keep the gym nice and clean. THANK YOU FOR GETTING NEW BASKETBALLS!
The whole place is kept very clean. The equipment is reasonably up to date and is well maintained. YMCA members get discounted parking, so don't forget to grab the ticket in the lobby. The staff is always welcoming.

I loved going to this gym, had it as 5 stars until now. Wasn't a fan of the paying to park there though. They recently updated the gate system and last week I was told by the gentleman working there that you now press a button for a ticket and pay when you leave. Previously prepaid one dollar after 4pm. When I left that day I gave my ticket to the usual lady working along with the dollar and went on my way. On the weekend thats not an issue. Fast forward to this Monday I pressed the button and got the ticket. When I was leaving there was a lady who I had never seen. I went to pay her and she somewhat rudely said you paid the machine now. Everyone in the past had always been nice even with the change. Okay so I put my ticket in and then it said two dollars. I asked about it and got another rude response about how apparently there is something stated twice before you leave that you have to pay insoin the Y now for the one dollar rate. I responded with clear frustration and paid the machine the extra dollar. On top of this there is some unsavory lack of gym etiquette from enough members to be quite annoying. Nonetheless I will not be returning to this site ever again.
My kids and I like this sport club. There are what are you looking for in there except sona. Although most of the afternoon are full but there is no problem to find the instument that you want work with. Staff are extremly nice and freindly. The parking is availble with a reasonable price. The fee is good too. You will like it!

Weird setup with 5 floors of small rooms of equipment but it was clean, they had ample squat racks, and the staff was very nice

This location of the YMCA is conveniently located on 2nd street. There is also a parking structure for the members and very close to the building. The staff are always bright and welcoming making the workouts more pleasant.
This YMCA is state of the art and it is clean and all 7 floors are awesome!
This is a real gem in Louisville, and a great community resource. It is kept very clean, the staff are consistently positive and welcoming.
I use to be a member 8 years ago but the cost was too high. I tried to revisit, to see if I wanted to return as a member but customer service was horrible.
Formerly a member but only because I moved. The facilities at this location are awesome. They recently renovated the locker room (2 story), steam room (my favorite) and sauna. Overall it's a cool place with multiple levels of activity. Staff is always very kind and friendly and is willing to help out with anything that you need. If I didn't move I would still be a member. Also they will reduce your rate based upon your income, which is especially great for students. Definitely recommend.

Just joined again after 10 years. The upgrades are awesome.
Great gym to visit. Staff is very friendly and always greets you when you come in. Plenty of free weights and machines for all types of workouts. The equipment provided can easily accommodate body builders, power lifters, cross-fitters (There is even a cross fit gym located within), runners, etc. Great facility and convenient parking complex next door.
Anyone who has medicare suppl. ins. has silver sneakers, a program that allows recipients to go to many fitness gyms free - but the YMCA at this location won't honor it because it only pay $35 a month, and that's not enough for them. They will refer you to the Y at 9th & Chestnut, which is run down and very unappealing. It's interesting that private fitness clubs such as Louisville Athletic Club, Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness and others do honor silver sneakers membership but the Y at 2nd & Chestnut will not, and the Y is a non-profit, even receiving grants/donations (I believe) for various reasons. No one wants to go to the Y at 9th & Chestnut to use their silver sneakers. Shame on the Y for not accepting it at 2nd and Chestnut also. Also I will say membership at Louisville's Y is way too high -- $57 a month for a single adult. This is almost double what other fitness clubs charge.

But, I nanny for girls who are currently members of the YMCA and one of the girls wanted to go workout today. For the sake of this review I will call her M. M is old enough to enter herself, but asked that I accompany her to the YMCA, noting that this particular Y always has some really colorful personalities. When I entered this YMCA, the woman at the front counter stared at me continuously. It was very strange, and I felt very uncomfortable. When asked if I could accompany M, I was not addressed at all, when clearly I am her adult companion. A manager--I think, he could have just been another person working there- entered and asked questions directed towards M that should have been asked to me. He did not address me at all, except to stare at me rudely, similar to the other girl at the counter. They then proceeded to inform M, not me, that the only way I could sit with her is to pay a $20 fee. JUST TO SIT DOWN AND WATCH HER. Between the ridiculously rude service, and the insane fee, I am extremely dissatisfied with the way I was treated, and the way M was treated. Not only did they plan to take advantage of myself and another young woman, but they clearly have absolutely no manners. DO NOT enter this YMCA. Don't waste your time with horrifyingly poor service and prices so terribly gouged. Planet Fitness is so much cheaper and a far cleaner and more updated alternative. I would give this a 0 star rating if I could.
I canceled my membership two months ago. I had to sign papers and everything, but they're still charging me and when i called to talk to a manager they were very disrespectful and hung up on me several times claiming it's not their problem. Wish i could give 0 stars.
This Y is the best! The staff is friendly, the equipment is consistently maintained, the classes are varied and offered at times to accommodate everyone. It has a perfect community feel to it as well.
Friendly staff, freebie towels (in case you forget yours). Very clean and attentive lifeguard. The only thing I do no like is the pool starting depth at this Y. It starts at 4ft. There is not a rope dividing the shallower end from the deep end. My daughter is new to swimming and fearful of deeper waters. It is hard to get a child to relax with not much space to work in where she could still stand up. Our Y home is southwest. That pool goes from a mere 3 ft up to 6ft. Perfect for beginners. Guess we will stick to that one from now on. Just wish the people that worked there were nicer. Still this is a great facility in the downtown area.
