Steve's Place

Today I had an 11:04 Tee Time. I was by myself. I arrived at the clubhouse just before 11:00. There are large windows in the clubhouse overlooking the #1 Tee Box, the #9 green and the #10 Tee Box. There was one group just teeing off #1. Another group of 4 waiting to Tee Off. I was after the waiting foursome. Since I could see no one on the #10 tee box and no one on the #9 green nor the # 9 fairway, I asked if I could start on #10 vs. #1. And, I totally understand not allowing others to start on #10 as there is a "chance" of cutting in front of a group making the turn. She said "No, I have others making the turn." Again, I looked out the window and saw NO ONE MAKING A TURN! Perhaps she saw something on her computer that was not visible out the window. And, she was very mesmerized by her pc. "That's fine," I said. "I'll wait on #1 tee box" and proceeded. And, I waited, and waited and waited. And, I waited. During this time, I looked back at the #9 green and #10 Tee Box. It was as bare as the Sahara. After twenty three minutes had transpired, I was finally able to tee off. And, still, NOT ONE person had entered the number nine green. And, of course, another threesome was waiting behind me. So, instead of filling in the back nine, she chose to pack up the front nine. I (a single player) played, actually waited behind the foursome the entire front nine. After a threesome joined me at the #15 tee box (again, while waiting for the foursome to tee off) I looked at my watch, 3:08pm. OVER FOUR HOURS TO PLAY FOURTEEN HOLES!!! I pulled off the course and went home. I know, the foursome should have asked if I would like to go ahead of them as almost always happens. However, if the lady at the club house had been less focussed on her computer and just looked outside the big windows at the real world, she would have seen things differently. I frequent Lake Perry, Berkshire, Western Hills and Prairie View. As a solo player, I am very seldom refused to start the back nine. Perhaps I should just stick with these courses. AND FINALLY, This is the only public course that bans personal golf carts. Sad.
