I love the South Lawrence club. The staff is wonderful. They are incredibly polite. The machines are great for workouts. I haven't used a trainer but I've heard from others that they are excellent. And don't get me started on the tennis program because it is AMAZING. If you enjoy tennis or are thinking of taking it up please go here for it. The tennis pro's are fantastic. They are unbelievable talented, knowledgeable and great at what they do. They have several different drills for different levels of play along with private lesson to help improve your game. If you are looking for a gym/tennis club to join this is the one for you.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are not intimidating gym people. There is a variety of equipment so everyone can find their niche. The amount of classes offered was my biggest selling point. Also have racquetball, basketball, and tennis courts. They have an outdoor pool when it is warmer and have open swim and classes at Washburn in the colder months.
I love the group classes offered at this club. There's something for everyone and there's various times/days you can go to. The instructors are all great too. Definitely join if you're like me and you benefit from group classes and just have a hard time working out on your own - though if you do that too, there is nice equipment that is always available.
TV on the machine are blinking in and out on a few channels. (Channel 13 and CNN) It has been doing it for at least 3 weeks. I feel it would be a good to number the machines so we could report the ones not working to the desk.
Also feel that someone should be walking around asking customers questions. The staff is somewhat friendly but unless you have a trainer you get no help.

They never quit calling me! They keep asking me to start a new membership. If I was interested in your gym, I would take it apon myself to contact you. Quit calling me!!!!

I'm really enjoying the new renovations. My favorite is the new steam room of course. My son had a few sessions with a trainer named Airrion. Airrion is very knowledgeable and personable. He really took his time explaining and showing my son the equipment and discussing nutrition. He's a great asset to Genesis.

I was mislead when I signed up for the membership. The same day I asked to cancel my membership and I was immediately told that I had to speak to the DM. Which by the way never emailed or called me back. By the time my first payment was due and automatically drafted from my account I was told that to cancel my membership would be 150.00. My contracted should have been voided and my money returned to me. Its not like I wanted to cancel a month later. This all happened the exact same day I signed up. Poor customer service!!!
Great machines helpful staff and offer lots of classes.Im new to working out and I feel great now that Ive made the Gym part of my weekly routine at Genesis Health Club.
Being a single mom can be a handful but my boys and I have found an amazing gym that we love going to as a family. They get to spend time in the nursery with their friends while I workout. They are eager and excited everyday to go and see all their friends. An amazing staff and amazing classes. Thankful for such a great gym!

Read many reviews saying they were scam artists. I should have listened. Signed up for a one year membership and am now being told I am in a three year one. Called to get my contract fixed and I was told it could be fixed just to come in to the gym. Now im being told my contract can't be fixed despite what was said before. They are definitely scam artists. If you join expect to be screwed over.
Even though the club is going through a complete renovation the trainer's are still making us feel comfortable. Every week we are in a different area to workout. The employees are happy so that makes us feel at ease. My Personal Trainer, Josh Kirkland is very knowledgeable on what I need to do for better balance and strength. He has helped me immensely.
Awesome group fitness instructors! Great new look for the facility, but still under construction. Like the refinishing of the tennis courts. Locker rooms are a big improvement. Can't wait till all the dust, dirt, and noise are gone! The renovation is long overdue, but glad it's being done! :- )
The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. They stop and ask how you are when working out. It's welcoming and makes for a good atmosphere. The classes are fun and the instructors give good tips and pointers. They make the hard work fun and enjoyable.
It has potential to be a great facility. During the remodel it is clear that there is no site supervisor looking over the project and the needs of the members. If a branch manager would actually walk the gym one would see the issues! Lack of water in the past, lack of proper ventilation and A/C, no WiFi in the new area, gaps in the exterior doors that are letting hot air in, broken equipment, trash and lunch containers left exposed from workers, high turn over of sales staff. blahblah
I feel when it is complete it will be very accommodating, I started there over 30 years ago! So I am trying to be loyal !
Hire a person to assist in keeping a system of flow. ( Project manager) That will help. The staff is blind to areas they do not cover and nothing gets attended to. PLZZZZZZZ GET WIFI IN THE NEW GYM AREA!!!
We have really enjoyed Genesis health club. Our personal trainers have been wonderful in helping us know exactly what we need to do to reach our goals and the front desk staff is very friendly and kind.
I signed my wife up for the 2 years get 6 months free offer. We never got the six free months. They told me a remodel within the next few months when they would have a pool. Never happened. They tricked her into signing some more paperwork. I went in to talk about it. They kept sending me to the location at the other side of town which is very hard for me. They gave me the run around. They said they never promised 6 free months despite the radio advertisement. I paid and they said we were even and done but that guy lied. They said because she signed the paperwork, I would have to pay for personal trainer for 6 months. I told them I wanted nothing more to do with them. They refuse to cancel my wife and I's membership. Now they say I have to fill out paperwork which they never want to give me. I still get the runaround while they continue to charge me. Do not give them a credit card. Do not sign with them. There promises are only good until they have you sign the dotted line.
I love surrounding myself with others that want to reach their goals. It gives me the motivation to keep going and getting my body back into better shape. I love all the friendly faces. My personal trainer Daniel is the funniest. He is a great help to enhance my workout.
