I started water aerobics to gain some strength. When I feel stronger, I am going to learn what machines will help me go forward. I can't wait to feel strong again.

Great place for the family to work out.

We've had wonderful experiences at this particular YMCA location. My son's swim instructor is great and makes the lessons fun and engaging, the facility is clean and the folks that work at the front desk are very nice and helpful. My son also really enjoys the Kids Night Out and Boys Night Out events.

They have a good effective swim lesson program. My little boy is finally getting some confidence.

Our family had a positive experience with the Water Discovery Swim Lessons. Unfortunately, we have had VERY negative experiences in the Childcare room, with the front desk and on the gym floor.

When we scheduled our swim lessons, we specifically requested Mondays at 6pm. Somehow, the front desk heard this as Saturdays at 9am or they were careless when scheduling us in the system. This resulted in us missing a notification that Monday's lessons were canceled because the water was unsafe for babies to be in.

In the infant room, the childcare provider named Diana was very apathetic. She did not seem to move from her seat everytime we checked on our son. We gave specific instructions for her to call us if he was upset for 5 minutes. When we came in to pick him up, our son was hysterical. He was crying so hard he couldn't catch his breath. When we asked Diana how long he had been crying, she said (without moving from her seat) that he was crying for 10 to 15 minutes. When confronted about following parents' instructions, she said my husband was a liar and never told her that she should call. She said there is nothing she can do if babies are crying (false... try playing with toys, etc) and she said she wasn't going to be working this summer anyways. ***I am concerned that the YMCA would hire such apathetic employees to provide care for children. This is not a family friendly environment***

On the gym floor, people are inconsiderate and invasive. In our most recent experience, a man was coming near while I was completing a set and saying loudly that "it's too crowded and people need to leave". He said this multiple times in an attempt to intimidate. I am not used to a gym environment where people feel comfortable enough to rudely express what's on their mind to strangers who are just trying to exercise.

I believe this gym lacks leadership. I was not able to reach a supervisor during prime time on a Monday evening until I demanded the front desk call someone. The leadership that has been hired for this gym really needs to take a more active role to ensure that the employees representing this organization are meeting customer service standards.

My husband and I joined the olathe ymca in 2014. It is a wonderful, supportive place. The staff is the best and there are lots of different activities. Something for everyone.

I've been going here since 2011. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The new stair stepper is great. I've had excellent luck with the lunch time classes, especially Yvonne's classes. My only complaints would be that the treadmills need updated (UPDATE: We have new treadmills and they are wonderful as of the end of 2016!). Another squat rack is still needed to help with the lunch time rush.

I decided to utilize the Olathe Family YMCA exercise facilities while visiting some nearby family. They have a large open area divided into zones for exercise equipment, weight machines and free weights. There are plenty of ellipticals and treadmills each having their own built-in TV with plenty of cable channels to choose from. They also have the largest ceiling fan I have ever seen :)

I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Notes and nit-picks...
* Bring your own towel. My home Y in Indiana provides towels for the pool, so this caught me off guard.
* The lockers are poorly designed and cramped. Their are 4 locker pods/areas in the men's locker room with about 50 lockers each. However, there is only room for 3 or 4 people in any given pod at a time.
* Their are private showers in the mens locker room. I much prefer this over the common shower room at my home Y...oh the stories I could tell...ugh.

As much I don't like writing bad reviews, I feel like if other parents knew the experience my 9 month old had at this facility they would turn the other direction as I would have if I knew. One star is too high of a rating for the Early Learning Center.

I moved from Out of town and decided to take my 9 month old there while I interviewed for jobs in the area and get back to work. I trusted the YMCA because of their family and christian based values. This facility is far from it.

His first week there, when I arrived to pick up my baby, he was left sitting in front of their laundry room crying by himself, he was the only child left at 5:30pm and the facility closes at 6:30pm. The teacher left my infant son crying while she decided to clean up early. I came to discover he had not napped or eaten well that day, which was out of his character. I decided to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt after all this was a christian facility. This happened two more times after, only to discover my infant son was sitting in an poppy diaper and he had not eaten all day and they didn't even call me at all! I called every single day and I was told he was doing fine. The third time this happened I could literally feel my heart breaking, once again the teacher told me he just started and crying and this time I confronted her about the issue and she told me "You can't expect us to take care of you baby the way you would, I allow him to cry for about 10 minutes before I pick him up" I was mortified to find out his basic needs of being feed, changed, and put down at his nap time. I then asked why I hadn't been notified that he didn't drink his bottle and further asked why they didn't give my son any baby food, and she argued and stated "My daughters came here and they cried for two weeks straight". I explained to her that I had a background in Early Childhood and that didn't make since to let a baby continue to cry and it was flat out wrong and mortifying.

Finally I spoke to the Director, although she was cordial, it was disappointing on how she lacked compassion and didn't remove that particular teacher from the infant room. Nothing was done and that same teacher is there to this day.

Please do yourself and your child a big favor and don't entrust these people with your children. I'm so heartbroken that I ever entrusted these people with my little baby.

I enjoy the Water Exercise class at 0600-0700 on Monday thru Thursday--but wonder why the class is never mentioned in the YMCA advertisements that I receive in the mail ?? These classes are excellent and the instructors are great--so why are they not featured?? Thank you for your consideration. Joann Burchfield
