I love this location!
I was having trouble at the Helen Nasif location due to an inadequate number of adaptive/accessible machines (NuStep, recumbent bikes, etc.) + many of them being broken, so I could never get my workout in. I was also experiencing staff harassment about my disabilities. So I came here to try it out and WOW!
Since it's in a medical plaza, they cater a little more to folks recovering from injuries (my mom did PT here for her back years ago), seniors, and people with disabilities, but anyone can get a great workout here.
They have so many accessible machines -- way more NuSteps than downtown, an adaptive treadmill with the long handles so I don't have to fear I will fall, and even arc trainers with handles that do not move (making it possible for me to train my proprioception & balance while getting great cardio).
I also like that the track is walking only, so I don't have to worry about anyone buzzing by or being in the way with my rollator. (I'm part deaf so I often do not hear if someone is behind me.)
The weight machines are also newer than the Helen Nasif location & my spouse said they are much better to use.
There is not as much bar equipment for weights, but they do have free weights, hex bars, etc. They also have plyo platforms if you're into that.
Downtown is much bigger & has a lot more to offer in some ways: aquatics, basketball, racquetball, ropes (weights), etc. But there is something to be said for accessibility & the Helen Nasif location could learn a few things! After all, disabled people make up 20-25% of the US population and we pay for our Y memberships just like anyone else.
