One of my favorite places on earth.
I've been at Iron Pit for about 5 years now. It's a clean, affordable, no-funny-business sort of gym. They get the basics really right, instead of trying to go with kitschy themes or trendy nonsense. Matt and Doug have created a truly welcoming environment for the bodybuilders, the powerlifters, the sportsballers, the operational athletes, and those newly embarked on a fitness journey alike, by providing versatile tools and a friendly place, instead of trying to play to one stereotype.
I started lifting at Iron Pit when my joined my first civilian search-and-rescue, and realized I no longer had a bunch of well-muscled soldiers to back me up. My son started lifting there at age 12, as a geeky autistic kid, and Matt took a lot of time to help him feel confident in the gym, and random strangers even pitched in. Now I have a 15yo who values fitness and is really learning to take care of himself.
