Been going here frequently now since ~mid December and I'm liking it a lot so far. Friendly staff, pretty clean overall, not too busy that you can't get your workouts done, but also no so quiet that it's kind of a boring gym to go to. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone, and have already.
I used to go to FitNation in Gurnee, and also when it was a Gold's Gym before that, and I feel like I'm getting more bang for the buck over at the Field House, and missing nothing as far as equipment I use goes. Even for non-residents like me, it's slightly cheaper with the Field House's monthly Gold plan (includes the pool, and some other things) than the regular monthly plan at FitNation; the Bronze plan is even cheaper if you don't use the pool.
That said, no place on earth is perfect, and if I were to be a little bit nitpicky, and I were running the place, with all the money to spend on it in the world, I'd add much better air filtration to the locker rooms (maybe just the men's locker room, I don't know) because it's *always* raunchy in there, lmao. The damp, sweaty air in there is so thick you could cut it with a knife, and I'd swear I can smell it on me when I'm back at home hours later, if I don't jump right in the shower.
Also, I'd really love to see a few extra things in there, like a masseuse (hey, why not? Our muscles get sore in there, no?), a hot tub/jaccuzi, to soothe our aching muskles, and I promise I'll even rate this SIX stars if they add in hot babes who feed us grapes while we're relax with our head in their laps. ;) Just kiddin' on that last one .... well, no I'm not. *shrugs*
P.S. would also be nice to close an hour later, at 11pm.
