Been going here frequently now since ~mid December and I'm liking it a lot so far. Friendly staff, pretty clean overall, not too busy that you can't get your workouts done, but also no so quiet that it's kind of a boring gym to go to. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone, and have already.

I used to go to FitNation in Gurnee, and also when it was a Gold's Gym before that, and I feel like I'm getting more bang for the buck over at the Field House, and missing nothing as far as equipment I use goes. Even for non-residents like me, it's slightly cheaper with the Field House's monthly Gold plan (includes the pool, and some other things) than the regular monthly plan at FitNation; the Bronze plan is even cheaper if you don't use the pool.

That said, no place on earth is perfect, and if I were to be a little bit nitpicky, and I were running the place, with all the money to spend on it in the world, I'd add much better air filtration to the locker rooms (maybe just the men's locker room, I don't know) because it's *always* raunchy in there, lmao. The damp, sweaty air in there is so thick you could cut it with a knife, and I'd swear I can smell it on me when I'm back at home hours later, if I don't jump right in the shower.

Also, I'd really love to see a few extra things in there, like a masseuse (hey, why not? Our muscles get sore in there, no?), a hot tub/jaccuzi, to soothe our aching muskles, and I promise I'll even rate this SIX stars if they add in hot babes who feed us grapes while we're relax with our head in their laps. ;) Just kiddin' on that last one .... well, no I'm not. *shrugs*

P.S. would also be nice to close an hour later, at 11pm.

I used to use the gym about 5 times a week. It was great and I recommend it. I did, however, start taking spin classes at one point and decided to stop after the instructor accused me of being a smoker over the microphone during the class. I've never smoked anything before so I corrected her. She then tried to correct me and TELL ME that I was indeed a smoker. I was one of the youngest in the class, kept up with her, and was never coughing or displaying any signs of having issues possibly due to smoking. She also barely knew my name so she was clearly working off of some type of stereotype she held about me or people who look like me which then turned into me being a liar on top of that. The Field House may need to educate some employees on how to appropriately interact with paying community members.

Very clean place. Helpful staff. ALOT of things to do there. Great big rock climbing activity right when you walk in. Concession stand for a quick snack.

Better priced than Gurnee gyms but sold piecemeal so locked doors everywhere.

Was recently there for a basketball tournament. Wanted to take my other kids swimming in between games. The first day we couldn't go because the pools we only adult swim during the time we had between games 11-3. The second day we did swim but cost a pretty penny! $15 for an adult and $6 for each child no matter the age. Towels weren't available for non-members. Floors inside pool area very slippery. The therapeutic pool was great! The temp was warm and even had up to 7' deep which my oldest loved. Took almost 15 mins to get registered for day passes. Wouldn't do it again.

The Field House itself is a nice building with great windows and a nice view. Unfortunately, as a gym, it is not that great. There are very few options in Waukegan, although a new, small gym did recently open.

There a a few issues. The equipment is bottom of the line; it's clunky & very basic. The settings are not adjustable enough for a smaller person and they are not ergonomic.

The other big issue I have is that there seems not to be any rules in place concerning gym etiquette and if there are, they are not at all enforced. They have a lot of young people working here and I don't know that they care to or have much confidence to enforce any rules, if there are any.
There are often teenagers who have snuck in from one the overcrowded sports tournaments, messing around on the equipment.
People are often talking on cell phones while using equipment which is annoying and dangerous.
The free weight area is on the first floor and the treadmills, ellipticals are on the 2nd and the area is an open space. If you are using a machine upstairs, you hear people lifting and some grunt really, really loudly. The gym does not to seem to have a rule about grunting and groaning unlike most gyms I've useed.
The lack of gym etiquette rules and lack of rules being enforced make going here extremely unpleasant. The gym is often super busy making any obnoxious behavior all the more irritating.
It could be a decent gym. It is a nice building.

Very Nice Place For Working out and shooting some hoops, but someone of the aquatic staff are very pushy and will be complaining about every little thing we do. So only because I'm not part of the swimming team I can't dive? Thats outrageous!! But other than that it's ight

They have a great value for the price of membership. The pool hours are a little funny some days but it is totally worth it. Always pleasant staff too.

6 gyms, track, fitness room, and now a pool. Great place to get some exercise in. Only gripe about this place is that the weight room is small. You will not get a good workout during the week because of +30 people using the weight room designed for maybe 15.

I just started coming here a few weeks ago, after working out on my own to lose a total of 60 pounds. I've never gone to a gym and was really nervous, but I decided to start with a personal Trainer. I've been working with John and I have to say, this place and the people are exactly what I was looking for. Working with John has given me the confidence to be in the gym everyday (even by myself) and the equipment here caters to every different level of experience. It's clean, the price isn't bad and it's never overcrowded. What more do you want from a gym in Waukegan?

It is a nice gym, but if you have children is not that good. The child center only allows 8 children in the class. If your child is the 9th on the list you will have to wait until other child leaves and the program is from 6 pm-8 pm. So if you feel like working out and you need to take your kids with you , better call before you go.

The new aquatic facilities are top notch. A kiddie pool, an Olympic size lap pool, and a large therapy pool with a hot tub and a high current steam flowing around it. Towel service for members, spin dryer, full locker room, with hot water showers. Immaculate, plenty of room, several high quality features. Overall a really nice addition.
