Roots of integrity started out as a great fit, the ladies are very particular and make sure you do it right, however they over stepped their boundaries by stepping out of their disciplined area of expertise and wouldn't accommodate me after they found out I live an extended fasting lifestyle. (It was just talked about in passing) I hadn't even left the studio before Valerie was whispering to Briana behind the dividers about my fasting in front of another client, which I found unprofessional. Briana said she wanted to speak to my doctor, as if I answer to a physician. I had purchased a 10 session, and asked to finish it out, so that I could find another studio that would fit me, but Brianna took it upon herself and just refunded the remaining balance. I wish that in the future, they are more accepting and understand that people pay for pilates, not judgment. And I only wish them the best.

This is my first experience with Pilates and I absolutely love it! I am rehabbing from a fractured hip in late 2016--after almost 9 months on crutches (that caused 2 broken ribs to boot!), surgery, and tons of physical therapy, I was stuck in my recovery. A friend of mine who loves Pilates suggested I give it a shot and I am so glad that I did. I've been going twice a week since August and it has made a HUGE impact for me. I am starting feeling more balanced, developing a strong core, and having a lot less pain with daily activities. I won't lie, it's not cheap (these are private lessons) but it is 100% worth it to me to find something to help me quite literally get back on my feel and get moving again.

There are 3 instructors and I've had them all. They all know a ton about body mechanics and can tailor your workout to address whatever issues you are having. They are also just nice people who made me feel very welcome even though I have serious weight issues and got very deconditioned during my recovery from my injury. They share notes on my sessions so there is great continuity no matter who I am seeing that day.

The nitty gritty: The studio is well-equipped. There seems to be no end to the props and tools they find to help you get the most out of your workout. The studio is on the 6th floor across Michigan Avenue from the south end of Grant Park and there's a huge east-facing picture window with a spectacular view. Day or night, it's amazing. I drive to the studio and have not had any trouble finding street parking on either 11th or 9th streets (pay box is $4/hour). They use a convenient online appointment system that allows you to buy packages of classes, see your upcoming schedule, and make new appointments.

In short, this place is the best. If any of this review resonates with you then you owe it to yourself to check it out. You won't be sorry.

I have been lucky enough to work with both Briana and Elise. I can't gush enough about how great they both are. For a newcomer to the fitness world like me, they offer the perfect blend of challenge and reassurance.

Sometimes life just steers us in the right direction if we are open to it. In 2013 I had an accident whitewater rafting where my back was bashed against rocks. I thought time would heal my body and should have looked into some therapy sooner but I waited nearly a year. My body tightened more and more and even walking was painful. Also concurrent with this my handwriting became totally illegible and I could barely write at all as my letters became smaller and smaller (a classic sign of Parkinson's Disease.) During this time I kept walking past a Pilates studio and finally picked up a brochure. I called the number and spoke with a lady who seemed to not want to accommodate my time preference and lucky for me referred me to Brianna Kline. Brianna did a thorough assessment and we talked of my goals of flexibility and strength training in June of 2014. After a few months Brianna shared that she was concerned that my physical limitations may be caused by more than the rafting trip accident. We spoke of neuroplasticity and the brains ability to regenerate itself which led me to a book and a gentleman named John Pepper who has mastered the symptoms of Parkinson's with exercise. Brianna went with me to my first doctor's appointment resulting in confirmation that I had all the classic signs of the disease. This is so Brianna a really caring person who is totally dedicated to helping her clients. Brianna and I agreed that the doctor went to medication without even considering exercise as an alternative and that exercise should be a first course of action. Since then I have viewed my condition as a blessing and a curse. I try to exercise at least six days a week which really has helped me mentally and physically. Brianna facing health issues herself over the last year never faltered in concern and professional support for me. It is now 2 years of Pilates this month and I am more flexible than I have been in 20 years and my muscle tone has improved considerably. My curse is Parkinson's but my blessing is Brianna and exercise!
