Updated review (as of March 28, 2018): I have been taking dance fitness classes since undergrad (19 years, sheesh) so I jump at the chance to take any of them. Even fitness classes with a good playlist can win me over.
I started going to this gym because a co-worker talked me into taking a Gentle Yoga class one time, and a little under a year later, I'm still a regular. I've poked my head in several of the classes since July 2017, but here are my favorites.
* WERQ: Although I thought Grace was one of the most fun dance instructors I've ever had and she's since left, I really like the new instructor Heide too. Grace was hilarious because my boss and at least two other onlookers/co-workers asked me "Who is that redhead dancing so hard at the front?" My response, "That's Grace. I don't even think she realizes she's teaching a class. She zones out, and the rest of us just try to keep up." I thought she was super entertaining for that reason alone. I walked in the gym and felt like I was in a nightclub almost immediately, and I hugged her and told her I'd miss her. Fortunately for me, Heide has a similar vibe (it is more than obvious when her favorite songs come on because she will start kicking, twerking away, and "whoo"-ing with extra energy). She picks great songs and routines too, so I'm relieved that RNG found a replacement that I could really get into. As long as I can get into the songs, naturally smile while dancing, and burn calories, I'd go to that class regardless of where I worked. (And I'm extremely disappointed when a meeting is scheduled at the same time.)
* Barre So Hard: Sometimes Emily is trying to be funny, and other times she's just naturally funny so there's a pretty good chance I'm going to try to stifle a laugh in her class. But she's not playing around with her workouts. Some of the weight training "and tuck, and tuck" workouts make my legs shake. There have definitely been moments where I had to take a breath between barre segments, but her music selection always drags me right back into it.
* Chisel: I think this class is going to kill me, but I am sold on it. I'd taken Body Pump a handful of times, which was cool but I lost interest. I can't quite figure out why I like Chisel more. Neomi is not messing around anymore than Emily is (I wish their classes were on different days so I didn't have to choose). Both of them push you just hard enough to not slack off in class and feel like you accomplished something. I have only taken Chisel with Neomi so I'm unsure about the other instructors. I like her though, although I'm exhausted after I leave.
And when I am too busy to take a class, I also enjoy freestyling on the machines. They're always clean, in working order, (most are) far enough apart so I don't feel weird working out next to someone, and the shower area is notably clean. I commend the maintenance staff for that because with so many people in and out of there, that can be difficult to do.
