I love Bikram yoga, but this studio leaves a lot be desired.
1. The studio is not well kept. Showers and bathrooms are generally not clean, and the vibe of the studio feels jimmy-rigged, abstractly thrown together, and not well thought-out.
2. The room is generally not hot enough when some (most) teachers are controlling the temp. Granted I'm for a hotter room as I practiced in some of the hottest rooms in the country, but feeling cold for the last half of class is no fun, it's just annoying.
3. The "90-minute" classes when taught by a couple of the teachers (including and especially the owner) are actually 70-minutes. You miss out on a complete 20-minutes of a paid class! This is unbelievable to me. As a practitioner for over 20-years my body needs the proper amount of time in the postures or the postures slowly degrade.
I did suggest to the owner that he should rename the class "70-minute" so people understand what they are getting (or NOT getting). He yelled at me and told me, "It's classic Bikram yoga to teach a 70-minute class but call it 90." ...Uh...that makes zero sense. And after practicing all over the world, including headquarters when it was around, I can say that's probably NOT true...but okay. He also told me that I should find another studio.
Anyhow, I still go because some of the teachers are really awesome, and the studio is right across the street from my home. But had I another choice I would definitely take the owners suggestion and find another studio with MORE INTEGRITY to practice.
