I had a membership for a few months. On my last visit, I had not noticed that I hadn't properly locked a facility locker I was using. I left the locker room, but came back less than 5 minutes later to get something. In that time, money had been stolen out of my wallet (which had been in the locker). The only other woman who had been in the locker room in that short time was a custodian. I was the only female patron there (it was first thing, right after they had opened for the day).

When I reported the theft to the manager, he was really condescending. After asking me how much money "I thought" had been taken, he acted like I was asking for a handout, took out his wallet, and offered to "pay me back". He refused to write up the incident, saying I had no proof. I was so embarrassed by his reaction that I didn't bother calling the police. I cancelled my membership and will never go back.

In town for business and used this club for a workout. Great facility, and wonderful service by Staci, the membership representative. Clean equipment and spacious layout.

I was mislead during enrollment at the Oak Park location. Their manager has yet to communicate back with me, I've sent him emails with my concerns and he has simply ignored them. I will be walking into the corporate office to speak to someone there.

Fitness Formula Clubs has been an outstanding experience for my 7 day trial period. From the high-engery front desk manager Esmeralda, the cleaniness of the entire facility, excellent machines / equipment and the wonderful trainers made this a dynamic experience. It's affordable membership includes wonderful amenities of showers and locker rooms, quite the feel of an exquisite club. Members of the gym are friendly and helpful. I will come back. This is an excellent gym.

Since 1991 I have been a member at Iron World, Golds, World, and Lifetime.
Fitness Formula is overall the very best gym I have been a member of.

Pros-
They have one of the best staff of trainers I have ever seen. All are professional and knowledgeable. No big egos...just great attitudes
You will get the best advice on a work out designed for your goals.
They will also do an in depth assessment on your current eating habits and offer some great suggestions to help you balance your ratio of carbs and proteins.
Spotless! The staff are constantly cleaning. The equipment, locker rooms, bathrooms, showers and other common areas are constantly cleaned. The club is always stocked with clean towels.

Cons-Well there had to be something...right? One piece of equipment they need is a T-Bar Roll. The type you lay against, it is on about a 45 degree angle (not the type you stand over to raise and lower). The type of T-Bar Roll you lay against, gives you the "free weight feel" without excess strain on your lower back. Every gym I have been a member of has this equipment.

Overall I highly recommend this club.

Beware of the enrollment fees and other fees. They will tell you that you will get your enrollment fee back if you work out three times a week in the first 90 days but this is untrue. If you do this then they will give you back CREDIT at the gym in the form of massages etc.

Also they will lie to you and say you have to use your bank info to enroll. This is untrue as well. What they will do is CHARGE your card $50 without permission because you used a credit/debit card. I did not use my bank account for billing because I was afraid they would charge me without my permission and it happened anyway. I was told they sometimes keep charging people after they cancel. I was hoping to bypass this issue.

I cancelled not for any reason other than the lies and then the extremely rude manager who I talked to on the phone about the issue even though I was very polite. I would recommend ignoring the sales rep's words and READ THE FINE PRINT. They will tell you that you should have done this anyway and that it is your fault. Either sign up for classes at a local small studio or be ready for these fees. Good luck.

I don't know what has happened to customer service these days. No one takes pride in their work and FFC seems to be the perfect example of this. It sounds trivial, but I accidentally left my I.D. upon visiting. (I don't know why they still keep your I.D. at the front desk. Most gyms I visit just xerox it and place it back in your position. Eh, it was my bad. I leave things. No worries. I managed to use an old expired I.D. to keep my business flight back. Nothing a phone call can't fix, right Insert stereotypical front desk personality here.

They refuse to allow my close friend to come and get the I.D. for me. They say it's against policy. Instead, they will throw it in a business envelope, throw a stamp on, and mail it. Cause that's safer. Hmm.

It's been 2 months and multiple conversations. My I.D. is a mystery. And so is any tangible information about it the club can provide. However, I am experiencing an interesting bout of identity theft.

Kathleen, the GM of the North Avenue club, is unresponsive. The managers simply have no knowledge and no power to offer a solution. And when I have to pay $30 to Uber to the DMV, $30 for a new I.D., and $30 to Uber back to my home in South Beach, I want to see someone honor that cost. I'm trying to find the right corporate contact at this point. Sure, it's a 100 bucks. But didn't I just pay them $60 bucks to sit on a bike for 1 hour for 6 days as a guest? Kids, it's what we hate about the airports. All corporate incompetence with no desire to correct issues because we are stuck with their services. Pick another guy, Chicago.
