I initially was introduced to Bar Method through Groupon and have been a member at Bar Method for the last 4 months. Bar method has changed my perception on my mind and body for the better. Every class I feel stronger, more flexible, and lean. I would highly recommend Bar Method to all of my friends and family. The instructors and staff are very welcoming and friendly, I have never felt out of place at Bar Method. The instructors help challenge me to improve my skills and endurance every class. When I am able to go to a class at Bar Method...I know it is going to be a great day!

Tried some classes through a Groupon and just bought a package. GREAT way to tone up and define muscles! The instructors are sweet and attentive in a way where you have space. The overall atmosphere feels supportive and no one cares what anyone else looks like or what there ability is. If you're looking to get healthier or squeeze in some fitness, I highly recommend it!

I have come to trust and rely on Bar Method for my mental and physical health. The instructors provide firm and attainable goals for perfecting form and movement during class. Even after 2 years, I am still challenged by the workout. I am relieved when I step into class and can intently focus on my own progress, overcoming mental and physical boundaries. I always, always leave class feeling better than when I came in.
Recently, I challenged myself to wall-climbing with my fearless niece. I was terrified. Wearing a harness and safety cable, I recognized the barrier of my fear and decided to keep climbing higher. Not only did I have the upper body strength from the 20's of push-ups in class, but I had the mental training to talk myself through feeling the fear ("I can't!") and doing it anyway ("One foot in front of the other!") This is just one example where Bar Method has positively affected my daily life.
I highly recommend the Bar Method!!

I am beyond thrilled with this studio! I came in November, out of shape and out of energy. I wanted to increase my strength as well. I have huge kinesthetic challenges- confusing left and right, and great difficulty understanding the position of my body in space. I had so many fears that I would be embarrassed and defeated. On the contrary, the support and hand on and verbal cuing of the instructors (to this day as I continue to struggle with understanding many moves!) keep me safe and increase my strength and confidence. Each teacher is different, and adds to my growth in this amazing workout. Chronic pain in my hip and shoulder have dissipated as I get stronger, even though chiropratic and physical therapy gave only temporary solutions to this pain. The desk staff is helpful and warm . As a teacher, currently on summer break I am looking forward to upping the number of workouts per week I am able to attend and getting better at this always challenging workout. I am well into my fifth decade and overweight, and feel totally comfortable in all classes. I encourage you try it!

Clean studio, friendly staff, and the instructors really know their stuff! I always get my butt kicked ;)

Update: Since my last review, I've started taking their Move and Level 2 classes. It's been so fun switching it up. Obsessed with Bar Method!

I've been an avid Bar Method fan for 5+ years. I recently moved to Chicago and am already loving the instructors and the tough classes they give at the Lakeview studio. I'm grateful to find another Bar Method home in my new city!

It's been about eight months since I started Bar Method and I thought it was time to update my review.

I initially came to bar because of a knee/IT-band injury that had me side-lined from a lot of activities. I was frustrated because I felt so limited in what I could do. Since starting BAR, I'm excited to say, that I am a lot stronger and my IT band issues are almost non-existent now.

All the instructors I've met are kind and open to answering questions as well as helping you adjust the exercises to fit your needs/abilities. This is absolutely a place to come if you want a challenging workout in a warm environment. I also love that the focus of this place isn't getting thin or losing weight but being stronger and a better version of yourself.

Great class! Very well rounded all body work out with very experienced instructors. They help you throughout the class and also tell you where most of the moves/exercises tone your body. Would highly recommend!

I recently joined The Bar Method as part of my new years resolution. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the classes. I have tried other Barre classes but they really weren't for me. I am enjoying the total body burn and have been recommending the Bar Method to friends and colleagues ever since joining. Thank you!

I have been going here for over a week and I love it. The instructors are great and the workouts are challenging. I really like it because it doesn't hurt my knees like many other workouts. I feel like I'm motivated to push myself harder and the class keeps you moving the whole time. The instructors are hands on, helping with my posture and getting the most out of my workout.

Very friendly and welcoming studio, from the front desk staff l to the teachers. The instructors learn your name instantly which is nice, and are great about correcting your form during class (which I like). Also good facilities - free lockers with keys for everyone so no need to bring your own. Nice bathrooms and spacious loungey area.

Each class is different, you will never have the same class since all instructors are different, which keeps you on your toes (literally!). It may not seem like it is a tough workout (i know i was doubtful) but i PROMISE you it is and you will feel and see results! Cant wait for my next class!

The instructors at the Wicker Park location are incredible! They take time to introduce themselves and learn your name and offer specific adjustments throughout class to give you the best workout. I felt immediately at home at my first class despite the learning curve and felt the impact of the workout right away. The 1 hour Mixed workout will target little muscles you didn't even know you had and it is also so much fun :)

I've gone to a few different barre studios, in Chicago and elsewhere in the U.S. While each studio has their own style, The Bar Method is my favorite! I love how the classes are a full hour (they also offer Express for 45 min!), and really hit on all parts of your body to leave you walking away feeling refreshed and energized from a full-body workout. The instructors will call you out to make adjustments in class or to encourage you, which I find helpful to stay motivated and to make sure that I'm in the right body positions and steer clear of injuries. I also love their app, which makes it really easy to book classes and buy services/products, as well as their incredibly responsive and friendly staff. Last, but certainly not least, they have pristine showers and complimentary lockers and toiletries, which come in handy if you have a morning workout or just need a refresh. Highly recommend!

I've been a Bar Method client for over two years and have loved every minute I've spent at the bar. The Bar Method provides a space for a challenging, focused, workout and a community of people that are all pushing towards self-improvement and strength.

I slipped a disc in my back in college and felt frustrated that my active lifestyle changed dramatically. I stopped working out during my recovery until a friend recommended the Bar Method. In the studio, instructors have been helpful to strengthen my body and give me my mobility back, all while strengthening my core and helping me gain my strength back physically and mentally. I quickly went from weak and sluggish to strong and energized - having developed strong muscles I didn't know I had.

The Chicago studios have been crucial in helping me find a home in a new city and recover from a debilitating injury. The studios are clean, welcoming, and conveniently located. I'm never far from a class and with so many time varieties, I can always fit a Bar Method class into my schedule.

The workout itself is a challenge but instructors emphasize the challenge with focus on your personal goals, pushing you in class with encouragement and attention to detail with your form and range.

I highly recommend The Bar Method - Chicago. Whether you're already feeling strong but need to change your routine up or needing to get back to a healthy lifestyle, The Bar Method can be a home for you to grow physically and mentally.

I highly recommend Bar Method- I take classes at both Loop and Gold Coast locations and have had a great experience. I had not exercised with any regularity in years and these workouts have been really intense but sort of addictive! My body feels protected by the exercises so I am not going to injure myself.
I find all the teachers to be very knowledgeable and attentive to each student's posture and knowing when to push and when to affirm.
I have seriously never been so excited about working out before!

I have been to Bar Method for 15 classes now. I find all of the instructors to be fantastically attentive to each participant. I find it amazing that all of them can remember each of our names! But I do love how personal that makes it. I love the method for producing strong lean muscles. More importantly I love how my posture is being strengthened, which is so important at my age of 50.

I've been attending classes at Bar Method the past month with the new member special and I love it. I was first drawn to Bar because I heard that it focused on body resistance to build strength, which is something I need as I recover from a knee injury. All the instructors I've met are kind and open to answering questions as well as helping you adjust the exercises to fit your needs/abilities.

This is absolutely a place to come if you want a challenging workout in a warm environment. Every class kicks my butt, but I leave with more energy and can already tell that I'm getting stronger. I'm 15 classes in and my knee has improved greatly.
