I called Brooklyn Boulders wanting more information on student memberships, spoke to Scott on the phone, he asked for my email and would send more information through there. Never received that email, so I sent an email to the contact info provided on the website. Never received a response through there either. Not sure what the issue is, I was super excited to potentially join this facility since I've enjoyed past visits but based on this customer service I don't think I'll consider Brooklyn again.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon in Chicago and stopped in for a climb (between servings of deep dish- we needed exercise!) and were really blown away with the service from Eric, Hannah and the rest of the team at Brooklyn Boulders. They had recommendations for things to do in the city, were very happy to share details and hear our story and made us feel genuinely welcome in the city. Also, the building is a renovated church and has awesome features, including untextured wall for a different style of climbing- more precise. Great job guys!!

I joined BKB because of the location, and I can't wait for my membership to end. It's too loud, too hip and not focused on climbing. If you want a CrossFit box/co-working space/Instagram background, BKB is for you. If you want to climb, go anywhere else. Every time I go, I see something ridiculous, dangerous, or both.

Great setting, great staff. Newly renovated training and fitness space! Plus the smooth walls add more attention to your footwork. Have made some really great friends climbing here!

I love it here! Participated in the Beginner to Badass program and in this month the progress has been amazing. Started off as an interest to have more fun with fitness and get over this fear of heights! The staff is super cool. Music is CRAZY good that they play in there. Classes on learning the ropes and intro to climbing were super informative and they also have cardio, weights and the study area is awesome. From the art murals to the set up of the place the atmosphere is amazing. Always felt welcome and encouraged as a beginner and never intimidated.

Had so much fun. My first time climbing. The staff was awesome and friendly and my instructor was so patient and energetic it was contagious. I think his name was Tucker, he rocked. Definitely going back.

VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. That Being said...

The problems and routes are challenging, and the smooth walls provide a very different experience than you would find at some of the other climbing locations around Chicago. Because of how smooth the walls are, you are forced to only use the holds that the route-setters have set for you - It adds a unique challenge. A little like climbing on quartzite up at Devil's Lake, WI.

A justification for that high price point could be the work area that is included, which I imagine is awesome if you work in the West Loop.

Been coming here for over year. Facility itself is not bad, but I have issue with management and the teaching/hiring choices that they make.

They are selling an image and that's not for me. The staff is pretty unorganized and doesn't know how to handle a crowd.

Setting is spot on but their handling of issues and their staff are not climbing people. Of course if climbing people are now on the same level as seasonal workers then sure.

My buddy and I lost our grigris here. My buddy found his behind the desk and it was only released upon photo evidence. Mine is still MIA. This place can be loved but once you start interacting with them you notice the cracks and the disorganization.

Rating the co-working space alone. Internet sucks. It's VERY slow! Can't have virtual meetings either as the music is blasting. The space is very nice I have to say.

Update:

Staff is great and have been proactive about fixing the internet. It's not too loud in the mornings for meetings and it's turned up in the evenings. Good beats.

The bouldering routes are challenging and fun. Good atmosphere.

The route setting was pretty fun, but there's no reason why they should be charging 25 dollars for a day pass when everywhere else charges 15-16. If you just want to climb, you're better off going elsewhere. One of the employees named T-Rex was awesome, really friendly but the other employees were not friendly and obviously didn't want to be there. Two stars: one for the route setting, one for T-Rex. This place doesn't deserve any more.

The gym is well put together. I prefer walls with texture vs. the smooth ones they have. Small crowd in the morning making it a good time to go

We had a GREAT time this past Friday! I brought my 3 daughters (ages 12,10,&8) and a friend to do the youth academy. My 10 year old has been wanting to try this for a while so she was super excited, while my 8 year old was nervous and was worried she wouldn't be "good" at it. And the two instructors Gabriel and Sabine were AMAZING. They built up my 8 year old's confidence so that by the end she was fearless on the belay. They did a great job at developing the 10 year old's understanding of climbing. And with the two 12 year olds, coaching them and challenging them to try something a bit harder, climb a bit higher , do something they weren't sure they could. taking nothing from Gabriel, I think the girls really appreciated Sabine, and they really liked having a female role model. All in all they had a great time, and we look forward to returning soon.
