This is my favorite gym to go too. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Especially at 5:30am when I get my work out in. I recently lost my wallet at this gym and I was certain someone had taken it. The next day I go in and the front desk has my wallet! Julius is awesome for watching over it! I love the classes, you come out drenched in sweat, and the steam room is amazing (my favorite part of the gym) This gym gives off positive vibes and I enjoy it very much. Thank you!
I have been coming to this XSport location for years now. Never really had too many issues. Lately MANY machines have been out of service and for like 2 weeks now. There are a lot of options but the same 3 stair masters and treadmills have not been fixed. I also feel like there are many gyms in the area that have updated equipment that I wish this XSport had as well.
The ventilation is poor, many machines remain out of service, the TV monitors are poor quality or broken, the locker room smells like a dirty mop, the free internet computers are off, and it's typically crowded where people post up at the popular weight areas for longer than 30 minutes. Only good for exercise classes and if you need a basic gym but go at odd hours.
This gym is actually good, but they can work on a few things! Just be aware and not come here in the morning or mid afternoon! This place is great after 11pm. One of my complains would be about this creepy guy that comes here on weekend nights and just stares at guys. He even winked at me and smiled in the bathroom while he had only a towel around him! I told they people at the front desk and they said "I know who you talking about. We have many complains but we can't do anything since he pays his dues." That's nonsense. Now I got to make sure im not being followed or waited on when I go to my car! I shouldn't be feeling that way after the gym. But other the that the cleaning staff are decent. They make sure the bathrooms are clean but don't take action with fixing the weights all over the gym until midnight.
Every time i shower there is always shampoo, hot tubs work great. People complain about to many little things. of course people dont put weights back happens at every gym. best X sport i have been to by far.
Nice and clean. Fresh equipment. Friendly staff.
Nice facility. Gets busier than most. Friendly staff, but they try way too hard to sell you, and then are half an hour late to your appointment.
This Xsport is decent but could use more free weights. During peak times it's nearly impossible to get a bench and the right weights. Good amount of machines and treadmills which is nice since they are rarely all taken.

I have yet to encounter a business that chooses to remove a benefit available to all members and change it to where it is only available to those who have more of an exclusive membership.
If an individual signs up for a gym membership knowing that one towel will be provided upon their time being at the particular facility, then the individual is under the impression that he/she will continue to have that towel available to them, as long as they continue on paying for their membership.
Personally speaking, this gym isn't located near my home and carrying a towel to and from work to stop by this gym isn't convenient either. I feel confident that there are other members who feel similarly to myself. Lastly, I hope XSport Fitness is going to make a lot of profit off of this budget cut because this sounds and is - bad business.
Incredibly busy unless you like going super late or super early. Not enough free weights equipment or squat racks (3?) to accommodate the 30 other people that might need it at the same time.
I think every gym membership should come with a "Gym Etiquette" book. Don't put your belongings on equipment you are not using. If it is peak gym hours, get off your phone and workout. In other words, there is no reason to take a five minute phone break in between sets and become upset when someone asks if you are done.
Be aware of surroundings. Particularly during peak hours, maybe it is not a good idea to sprint down the weight room where people are handling heavy equipment.
RE-RACK YOUR WEIGHTS!
I get it, its impressive that you can "squat" (barely bend your knees) with four plates on each side, but after you're done making a fool of yourself, maybe you should re-rack the plates.
All of this is frustrating when its the gym newbies, but it becomes infuriating when its the fitness trainers and gym employees. Seriously, lead by example.
However, the reason they only lose one star is because this seems like standard practice at most gyms.

I'm making a deposit in one of the bathroom stalls in the men's room and what do I see??!! A BED BUG!!
Crawling into the stall wall. Was a full grown BED BUG. I told an employee in the mens room. Didn't care.
It's a shame. I really liked this gym. Those lockers are a bed bugs dream vacation. Its only a matter of time. I'm out.

Solid gym, has lots of cardio and strength equipment as well as a pool, tanning salon and basketball court. However, if you can only work out during peak hours (weekdays, 5-8pm) then this may not be the place for you. I've had trouble finding parking and available machines, so much that it has impacted being able to use the gym to its fullest potential and results. It is 24 hours though, so if you can go at non peak times it's perfect. Staff are friendly and it's clean.
They have a lot of equipment, honestly I think they have too many treadmills/ellipticals. But they do have a good amount of barbells, free and bench, but not enough benches to actually sit on. On some days it gets so crowded I spend more time waiting for machines/benches than actually working out.
My husband and I go there a few times a week and use the treadmills & ellipticals as well as weights. There have always been available machines. When it's very busy the only real difference is that you might have to park on a higher floor, but parking is free and you're there to exercise so who cares? There's an elevator if needed, anyway. I recently took one of the zumba classes and it was a great workout, so I'll definitely go back. Front desk staff are fine.
Facility is definitely better than it was but still needs work. A specific Staff member likes pushing people to sign up even if I am bring them as guest even after we said no. Take no as an answer and let us proceed to our workout. Compared to the Skokie facility this gym needs work.
It is clean! Most of the people are good. Someone took my towel while I was in the pool! I don't understand people. You can get a towel at the front desk.
Gets the job done inexpensively. At peak hours parking and finding a machine or weights is next to impossible. Not always clean
I used to love this gym but the more I came, the more I found something wrong with it. For starters, the locker room feels old and cramped; the lockers themselves only have 2 hooks and the wood feels incredibly dated. Going off of that, every piece of equipment at this gym is at least 15 years old, most likely older. Not sure if this used to be a Bally's or Powerhouse but they definitely need a makeover to stay on par with the other Xsports.
Could be cleaner for the amount I pay monthly. Isn't planet fitness $12/month. That's 1/3 of what I pay here. The mop waters Smell like water damage but for the most part it's cleaner than other xsports and it is a gym after all. So maybe I'm being too hard. However, deep breaths are being taken and it be nice if I didn't have to get used to That gym smell
Place is gross. Outdated equipment. Super crowded. Towels they give you are certainly the same towels Since gym opened. Basketball court has dead spots all over. And the rims are all bent and soft. Locker room makes me legit feel dirty.
The women who care for the children in the play area while you work out are AMAZING! My one and a half year old has been upset that I would leave her to work out and both Maria and Elisa comforted her, snuggled her and played with her to get her to calm down. They are both wonderful!
I've signed up and came here for a couple of years and it was nice but this time that I went to sign up the place didn't look the same. It seemed a bit not well taken care of. Maybe because it was a Sunday afternoon. They do offer different memberships and I'll consider my options, unfortunately I read the reviews and not sure to sign up or not. Undecided to come back. I didn't have a bad experience last time.
DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. All of these poor reviews are real, and a lot of the good ones are fake. Hands down the dumbest decision I have made as an adult was signing up with them. No matter how much you think, "This won't happen to me, it can't be that bad," it is.
Pretty great place to work out over all. A bit more open space wouldnt hurt though.
Worst experience of my life with customer service. The "employees" are really just salesmen.
First. Thomas sells me a plan that's going to be $49 today plus $1 enrollment fee. Great. Turns out that was a lie as it was a down payment on training that he shoved down my throat.
Wanted to charge me $47, $50 and $90 in a 2 week period as if we didn't discuss my budget and what works for me.
Second, lets direct this of the scum bag that is Thomas. Thomas was discussing fat loss with me- fine, but proceeded to tell me that most girls still want that "good fat in all the right areas". Let's talk more about sexual harassment. Completely disgusting comment to make.
Also, talking in circles around your customer and taking an hour and LYING about the payments and changing documents after having me lay in a free hydro massage. I just don't get it Thomas. Why play that game when the firs thing you said to me is "I'm salary so I don't care if you signup or not I get paid".
Real winners. Will be in tonight to cancel.
I've been a member for a while now and this location could be a lot better. Upgrade the pool area, lighting and heated pool would be nice. Also in the locker room, the TV's are way too loud at times and the cleaning crew are always loud and in the way cleaning during the busy hours. Specially around the showers. The gym is 24/7 maybe clean late at night or after the rush? late morning? But over all the staff is very friendly and welcoming.
so far have only been able to go twice. the elevator has been broken had to climb stairs which I am not supposed to do. set myself back in physical therapy. I am handicapped and have been in a wheel chair for over a year. am just getting back to being able to walk . all I can do is the resistance pool and the hot tub. they also lied about pricing and I am on the hook for 49.00 a month for spa stuff I have never ever used. Gym is dirty, and you get no help they look at you like oh she is old it doesn't matter. she didn't fall for the personal training for 2k for 6 months to use the pool. pffft
