I'm in the process of losing weight and just being healthier in general, so my roommate suggested I join Planet Fitness.
I'm glad I did! The facility is very clean, and the machines are really easy to use. When they say it's a no judgement zone, they mean it. Both the employees and other patrons are very nice. Also, it's right next to the stop for route 52, making it more convenient for me.

Pretty much get what you pay for. The place is usually reasonably clean, the machines usually work adequately, and the staff is occasionally friendly. It can get quite busy and in the evenings the sun comes blasting through the windows, blinding everyone on the second floor using the cardio equipment. It could be better but it's also not the worst.

Planet Fitness has been such a welcome change in my life! I used to go to X-sport where the staff was super rude & aggressive, everything smelled & was somehow wet, the dudes were always grunting and slamming down weights and you always were getting gross looks and leered at.
Not anymore! I'm shocked that that the signs everywhere at at Planet Fitness that say "no judgements" and no grunting and stuff actually seem to work overall! The staff is all super kind and accommodating, you can sign in with the app on your phone, the price is 1/4 what I paid at X-sport, and there is so much natural light! I can always get a machine, never feel hit on and very rarely hear a slammed weight. I think it helps that the gender balance is better. I see a wide range of ages, races and gender expressions there. I go to the gym more than ever before because I finally like it, rather than feel like it's something I have to do. Recently they remodeled the place and it looks much better, I like that they added from small to big items around the place.
I like that they divided the stretching area upstairs, making the space bigger, they added more machines and the setup is better.
I like the LED lights in the washroom as well as the addition of the hair drier, and the soap in the showers is a plus.
The Black card area also got a makeover and it looks better than before.
I do miss the chairs in the space after taking a shower, it makes it easier to put on my shoes. I'll keep coming back.
The WiFi does not work but hopefully it will get fixed.

Signed up since the gym is not far and it's inexpensive. 10 for just one gym and 22 for access for all locations and you can invite someone with you. As for signing up, I had to come back a few times since they weren't clear on what I needed. But once signed up, I am going on the morning and it's usually not crowded. Plenty of machines and lockers. Got a free shirt unfortunately it's made of cotton so I will not be working out with it. Plenty of parking.

Planet Fitness is a great no nonsense gym. All the equipment is generally in great condition and clean. Locker rooms are spacious and well kept. Showers are arranged in a private stall type setup and most of the time they are available. This location has plenty of treadmills to generally meet peak demand. They also have all the perks for black card members (tanning beds, massage chairs). There's no towel service but at the low cost it's easy enough to bring your own if needed. The only thing really missing is a pool but that type of place generally costs more.

Awesome gym! It's huge, plenty of machines even at the busiest times there is never a wait. Always clean. Rarely do I see out of service signs on equipment. Huge parking lot for Chicago. Excellent value!

I had been member of this planet fitness for more thank 1.5 years. Really enjoyed working out here. awesome equipment & decent clean bathrooms.
Due to job purpose, i had to move out of Chicago, asked front desk staff for membership termination and staff behaved very rude and careless with processing my request and did not give proper answers when asked about termination of auto deduction of $10 from my bank account.
Very disappointed at the end.

The best Planet Fitness in Chicago. it's a huge gym with a huge parking lot that never gets full. It's a new gym converted from an old rug store. The equipment and gym are in excellent condition. Another bonus are the hours which are 24/7. The Black Card amenities are in excellent working order. Highly recommend this gym if you are visiting from out of town and staying in the area as the guest passes are only $10

I don't know what happened but it looks like they switched manager and now the gym is almost always a mess or short on cleaning supplies now. Wish they would kind of get it together.
Ive been here since this placed open, it was empty. Now its slowly turning into an Xsport.
Guys checking themselves in the mirrors while curling every 10 seconds, and people sitting on machines and weights wasting time on their phones.
Other than that great staff and clean location.
If you want to avoid that type of crowd i recommend really early morning or late at night.

I do like it here. But they only have three stair masters and one of them has been broken for the past month. Compare that to the dozens and dozens of treadmills and ellipticals they have that they always quickly repair it just seems kind of ridiculous. They should add more (working) stair masters.

Good clean gym. Always open. Staff is pretty chill. It gets pretty busy but there are so many machines you can always get on the equipment you want. May just have to modify your order a bit. Always cardio equipment available. After work can be hard to find 2 machines next to each other to work out with a partner.

Excellent staff at this location. Good equipment and lots of great natural light. Would like to see more cleaning (both inside and in the parking lot).

Seems like a good place to start a new workout regimen. Plenty of machines and weight stations. You can work privately or pay for a personal trainer. The location is convenient and staff is pleasant. Plus it's close to other shopping options in a strip mall type setting. Important for those of us that use Lyft or Uber for transportation.

Great atmosphere! Gym equipment and cleaning supplies are always available for members. I tend to visit while slow peak hours and have the advantage to all gym equipment. Member prices are reasonable at a very low monthly price. I enjoy this location due to their cleanliness and customer service.

Do not go here.
-You will end up paying twice as much as you think you will.
-Supposed to be able to cancel membership at anytime with the black card, but this is false.
-There was literally candy in the cup holders for the treadmills.
-If you jump rope they will stop you because it's "too intense".
-There is not enough equipment for the amount of people.
I could go on and on.
Do not get a membership.

Such a good deal! $10 a month and $20 if you want unlimited tanning. Also it's open 24 hours. I've never had any issues. There is always someone there to check you in and you never have to wait. It can be extremely crowded at times and dead other times. It all depends on the time you go but even in the crowded times I can find my second or third choice of equipment easily. A good variety. Also, I tan and just that alone at $20 a month beats any tanning package I've ever seen! Also the tanning beds/stand ups are always running correctly (no bulbs out) unlike many tanning salons I've seen and even when really busy I've never had to wait.

It's a nice gym, but I was promised a tour and a warm welcome, per their website and emails when I signed up and got neither. I had to ask where the locker room was. I'd even told them I'd never been to a gym before and they didn't even bother to do anything about that. They say no intimidation all over but I didn't get that vibe. Went back and was stuck with no toilet paper in the bathroom. I informed them and they feigned shock. When I was done with my workout they still hadn't stocked the toilet paper. The staff just stands there and chats at the desk.

Solid gym for the price. Love that it's open 24/7. Only 2 real complaints:
1. There NEEDS to be another dip station/pull up bar. This gym at its peak has 100+ people in it, and I always find myself having to plan my entire workout around the availability of the single dip station.
2. There's a metal corner piece that's been hanging off one of the pillars in the free weights section ever since I started here a month ago. It's dangerous and last time I literally heard a guy go "ouch!" after it scraped his hand during a set. Unacceptable. Needs to be addressed.

A little on the smallish side for a gym but laid out well. Heavy on treadmills, but that's what most people are looking for anyway I think. I doubt you would ever have to wait for one. A small section of free weights and other strength training machines as well. I like that they have a separate section of machines for a 30 minute workout.
The locker room is very small and I imagine at peak times it will be difficult to find a locker. Since the place is new, everything is clean. I especially like that there is a small parking lot available. Overall a really great deal for $10 a month.

Update 13 January 2018: downgrading to two stars due to deplorable condition of the men's bathroom area today. Not sure if the maintenance/cleaning staff didn't show up, but between the broken urinal, one soap dispenser broken, another out of soap, and the general state of cleanliness being substandard, it's a disappointment from the last time I was here.

Cannot say enough good about this place. I travel all over the country for work and visit PF locations coast to coast. By far this is one of the best locations I've EVER been too.
Plenty of dedicated parking. This is a standalone building with its own private lot.
Friendly staff.
Clean facilities. The locker room was particularly impressive. The showers were beautifully tiled and had the luxury look of a high end club.
Equipment was well maintained. First time in my life ever seeing 75 pound dumbbells at a Planet Fitness.
If it's a so called "Judgement Free" zone, us stronger guys shouldn't be judged and discriminated against.
Overall a great experience.

I'm not sure you can beat this place for $10 a month. The staff is always friendly and available. Place is always very clean. It's easy to get to being right off 90. I've been at almost all hours. I think you need to explore and find what time works for your schedule and personality. I like to go on off hours as my schedule is a bit flexible and I find it more laid back. If you are an energy person that needs to be in a hyper environment this might not be the place for you other than around dinner time because those people don't eat. Typically an older lunch time crew and slower mid morning or mid afternoon.

Super convenient location, and because of my weird schedule, there's rarely anyone there when I go. The branding there is good, everything has a look and a feel that is aligned with their "Judgment Free Zone" slogan.
